JOB TITLE: Group Supervision Facilitator (Culturally Appropriate Advocacy)
HOURS: P/T 1.5 hours per calendar month
LOCATION: Greenfish Resource Centre, Manchester, M4 1LE
CONTRACT TYPE: Self Employed
SALARY: £40-£60 per hour
BRIEF SUMMARY OF ROLE
The Culturally Appropriate Advocacy Service provides Advocacy for racially minoritised people (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people) in Greater Manchester who are being treated in a psychiatric inpatient site or who are at risk of detention under the Mental Health Act.
We aim to address racial disparities experienced in mental health care through Advocacy. We know that people from racially minoritised backgrounds are more likely to be detained under the Mental Health Act and experience worse outcomes when accessing care. Our Advocates work in partnership with the people they support and take their side. We promote social inclusion and social justice through Advocacy.
We want to proactively support our Advocate team and are introducing independent group supervisions based on the feedback from our Advocates. The Group Supervision Facilitator will facilitate monthly 1.5-hour group supervision sessions for a team of Culturally Appropriate Independent Advocates.
For any queries regarding the role, please do not hesitate to get in contact for an informal discussion.

About Healthwatch
The Health and Social Care Act 2012 required each local authority area to set up a Healthwatch organisation. Healthwatch gives people a powerful voice both locally and nationally. At a local level, Healthwatch Barnet works to help people get the best from their health and social care services, whether it's improving them today, or helping to shape them for tomorrow. Healthwatch Barnet is about local voices being able to influence the delivery and design of their services, not just for the people who use them, but anyone who might need to use them in future.
Healthwatch Barnet transferred to Inclusion Barnet on 1st April 2020. It is commissioned by the London Borough of Barnet to provide the following 6 key functions:
· Gather views and understand the experiences of patients and the public
· Make people’s views known
· Promote and support the involvement of people in the commissioning and provision of local care services and how they are scrutinised
· Recommend investigation or special review of services via Healthwatch England or directly to the Care Quality Commission (CQC)
· Provide advice and information (signposting) about access to services and support for making informed choices
· Making the views and experiences of local people known to Healthwatch England (and to other local Healthwatch organisations) and providing a steer to help it carry out its role as national champion
About Inclusion Barnet
Inclusion Barnet is a thriving peer-led charity based in North-West London. We believe in the power of experience, and this is demonstrated by all our services being led, developed, and delivered by people with lived experience of disability, including mental health issues and long-term conditions. We believe that learning to use our lived experience for social change is a skill. We have become experts in harnessing the lived experience of our staff, members, volunteers, and people who use our services to design and deliver higher quality, more person-centred services. We believe that this benefits both disabled people and society more widely. We also work to support other organisations to do the same. Our work is very much influenced by the Social Model of Disability.
Please submit a brief covering letter with your CV outlining how your skills match the job description and person specification. In your covering letter, please advise where in the country you are based, and ensure that you explain how you would draw on insights from your own lived experience of disability to deliver the role. A DBS check will be required.

Our basis and values
Hybrid working – split between our central Liverpool office, home and client venues
This job is all about working with the local third and public sector to engage with local people to create change. To make this happen the role has three key bits to it:
- listening to what local people want (gathering the insights)
- building a vision for a ‘better way of doing things’ (planning to make change), and
- getting stuck in to support our clients and wider team to make things happen (doing the stuff we’ve planned).
Each day you’ll be shaping and delivering Capacity’s current and future projects, managing expectations, excitement, and priorities - keeping a smile on your face and a spring in your step. Even on the busiest of days our Designers and Doers remind themselves why they’re in it, finding the get-up and go to make public services, people services.
The to-do lists you write and the skillsets you engage will vary hugely, one day you might be working on recruitment strategies for social workers, the next on service design for family early help, another strategy planning for a primary care team. When job descriptions say ‘no day is the same’ that can often feel twee, at Capacity - it’s a promise.
You’ll spend your time being proactive - delivering on our promises to clients and local people, whilst staying ready to catch any ‘off-project’ work that might need sorting along the way. You’ll support us to get new clients on board but also play a key role further engaging our existing ones, making sure they continue to feel connected to Capacity and proud to be involved in the work we’re doing.
The projects we deliver are often complex and things won’t always work out. For that reason, you’ll be open and honest about what’s working, what isn’t and where you might need extra support. If you’re considering this role it’s really important you aren’t afraid of making mistakes or asking for help.
A great writer and listener, you’re keen to learn about other people’s lives and what they need for a better future. You can manage a diverse and ever-changing workload, set your own priorities and use your initiative, staying strong when things don’t always go to plan. You can use service design and/or organisational development approaches to support client needs and have a proven track record of working with a range of different people, developing strong and positive relationships.
Closing date: 5pm on 16th June 2024.

It is an exciting time to join University of Manchester Students’ Union as we supercharge our international student engagement work. We believe that all students should have the opportunity to thrive during their time at the University. International students, often because of their intersecting identities, are more likely to face barriers that prevent them from making the most of university. We are committed to systematically identifying and dismantling these barriers to involvement with all the university has to offer.
We’re looking for someone who has excellent project management, partnership building and senior stakeholder engagement skills to lead on a new area of work. The postholder will be responsible for developing an insight led, student needs centred and operationally achievable international student engagement strategy. You need to ensure that an effective understanding and appreciation of inclusion practice is weaved throughout this work. It is essential that you take a proactive approach to develop your own knowledge of inclusive practice and use this to develop the knowledge and skills of colleagues across the Union in engaging International Students. There is a rough timeline outlined the responsibilities section for this role, and once appointed, we expect you to adjust and tweak as necessary.
This role is for you if you are passionate about international students in higher education. If you’re someone who likes taking a methodical approach but is also willing to experiment while the strategy is signed off, essentially taking an action learning approach to this, you will enjoy the level of flexibility and freedom in this role. If you’re someone who needs more structure than what is provided in this job description about what is required, unfortunately, you aren’t the right person. We’re looking for someone who is able to deliver this work independently and act autonomously, demonstrating their own work. We also want the postholder to be collaborative and work in partnership across the organisation, the university and wider partners. You will need to demonstrate how you’ll strike a balance between those expectations. If this sounds appealing, we want to hear from you.
The Students’ Union and the International Society merged in autumn 2023. The International Society is a student facing brand that encompasses the community building aspect of what we’d like to do as part of a broader engagement strategy. We have good levels of engagement from international students in societies and volunteering and those that run for election to be our full-time student officers. We’re not too sure about whether international students are getting what they need in terms of information and guidance on student life, whether there are any differences in educational outcomes and we think student jobs and employment will be important. We’ve got really good teams who do some of this work already, so you’ll be adding to services rather than creating new ones. This means you’ll really be working at the cutting edge of international student engagement work. How exciting!
This is a hybrid role (40% to 80% on site) depending on what’s needed to deliver outcomes in the role. There is good support around our senior leaders from the team, external coaching is available to anyone who requests it, and there are well developed insight, communications, events, student activities and representation functions. This is why it’s the right time for this role to join our organisation and do this work.
The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

We are looking for a Development Manager in our Place Development Team who will focus on Public Leisure.A key element within our 10-year Strategy - Uniting the Movement is our commitment to work through Place, Creating Active Environments and supporting Public Leisure facilities to be more community focused and evolve to an active wellbeing service:
- Creating Active Environment’s provides places and spaces for people to be more active and build healthier active communities.
- Developing stronger, happier healthy communities and better places to live, by ensuring our built and natural environments and the connections in between are design or adapted around people, creating the opportunities to increase physical activity levels
- Places and spaces around us deliver a positive impact on whether, how, when, and where we move. Every space and place that we move through in our daily lives should encourage us to move more. Dedicated sport and leisure spaces should be co-created, well designed and inclusive.
- Public leisure facilities and services have a vital and unique role to play in our sport and activity ecosystem because of their value to the people who use them most. The public leisure sector also has a central role to play in the delivery of our Uniting the Movement strategy, as it is a core element of each of the five Big Issues we have identified as having the greatest potential for preventing and tackling inequalities in sport and physical activity.
- Our Future of Public Leisure report identified two medium term goals for the sector (1) to transition from a traditional leisure service to one which is far more focussed on active wellbeing (2) to move to a model that focusses on added value and supporting the delivery of local priorities, and with that enable the delivery of wider government priorities around Levelling Up, net zero and health inequalities
- To fully understand the role of public leisure centres, Moving Communities Facilities provides a real-time view of local authority facility performance, with benchmarking and filtering functionality, that explores financial performance alongside understanding how effective the service is and for whom, and its impact on local communities.
- The platform has developed into Moving Communities Place which is a comprehensive data platform that provides a detailed, place-based view of participation in physical activity by measuring direct delivery to demonstrate the scale, impact and value to local communities.
