Job Purpose:

The Institutional Funding Manager will play an important role in SHA’s institutional income generation activities. Working closely with assigned country teams, the post-holder will support pipeline development, lead the development and writing of high-quality bids, donor engagement, and positioning for contract and grant opportunities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical for this role.

French and/or Portuguese language skills are desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Proposal development

• Identify, research and advise on new funding opportunities.
• Coordinate proposal development for assigned countries/donors and cross-organisational teams to respond to funding opportunities.
• Contribute to meeting departmental financial and non-financial (volume and quality of proposals) targets.
• Develop and oversee proposal development timetable; coordinate inputs; write and edit content; provide quality assurance on fit with donor priorities; ensure compliance with internal review and approval procedures; ensure timely submission; and follow up with donors for feedback.
• Facilitate proposal consultation meetings, prepare summary presentations and develop meeting notes.
• Work closely with colleagues in the Programmes Department, who lead project design, to contribute to the assessment, research and design of projects for specific donor funding opportunities.
• Lead tracking of funding opportunities including monitoring funding databases, liaising with donor staff and colleagues on progress of applications or potential funding opportunities.
• Work closely with Programmes Department colleagues to support and/or lead contract negotiation with institutional donors.

Donor Strategy Alignment, Engagement and Relationship Management

• Support donor strategy to maximise relationships and funding from donors through: meeting donors and cultivating contacts; creating and maintaining strategic account plans; liaising with colleagues across the organisation to coordinate donor meetings and briefings; and writing capacity statements/quality statements for specific donors. 
• Maintain up-to-date information on donor priorities, strategies, regulations and activities pertaining to SHA’s strategic plan.
• Ensure relevant staff including senior management and Country Directors are briefed on donor activities, through the preparation of briefing notes and maintaining up-to-date information on our management information system.
• Provide advice to Programme Department colleagues on donor policies and priorities, in order to support overall donor strategies.
• Maintain and report on donor relationship and income pipelines on a periodic basis. 
• Manage relationships with assigned funders to build effective long-term partnerships.

Programme Funding Team and Miscellaneous

• Work with colleagues within the Programme Funding Team, and across the organisation, to improve the standard of proposal and report writing and donor relationships, and ensure funding opportunities and contracts are managed according to donor requirements.
• Coordinate the timely review of grant agreements to signature
• Add and maintain opportunities, donor records, files and time records in the organisation’s management information system.
• Provide capacity development and training in programme funding and bid writing to colleagues.
• Contribute to Programme Funding Team reporting.
• Represent the organisation in donor funding-related groups and networks.
• Keep up-to-date on relevant areas of the development sector.

Knowledge, Experience & other Requirements

About the team

We have been successfully running the first ever national Peer Support Service for kinship carers in England for over two years since January 2022. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups, and;
• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England. 

About the role

The type of person we’re looking for:

This is a new a role and a new structure for the team. You will need to be a strong, boundaried manager and leader. You will understand the power of building relationship-focussed peer support groups and the importance of in person local community engagement and outreach.

The team you lead will focus on community outreach and relationship building to develop new groups and new support group leaders through to independence. By independence, we mean that the groups will function successfully without a staff member present.

We want groups to feel a sense of community and belonging through all support and services we offer at Kinship, so your team will be the local contact.  They are expected to be out and about in communities.

Your team will need to build resilience through in person outreach, support, training and connection to ensure groups are able to function independently before moving to new ‘hub’ team who will provide centralised support and community building.

Your team will also reach out to existing groups (providing a face of the service and a relationship with it), ensuring they have the resources they need and support to sustain their group and then transition to the ‘hub’ team. This will include in person visits.

Purpose of the role:

The role of Programme Lead is to oversee and take accountability for the development and creation of new sustainable kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model. In this context, your team is the ‘spoke’ of the service, delivering local outreach, online groups (where appropriate) and relationship building with kinship carers.

Managing a national team of seven staff (two direct line reports), you will provide firm leadership, ensuring targets and funder SLAs are met consistently and the service is delivered to a high quality.  You will provide monthly reports, ensuring delivery is on track and most importantly that kinship carers have an excellent and positive experience.

THE ROLE
The Project Development Manager role is part of The Building Capacity Project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF), which seeks to develop the skills and capacity of communities on the west coast of Scotland to deliver the aims of the Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest i.e. protect and restore Scotland’s globally important temperate rainforest. The Woodland Trust has secured funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) for this project's initial two-year ‘development’ phase.

The Project Development Manager will lead the development work, coordinating project partners to ensure the timely development of plans for the delivery and for the stage 2 funding bid to NLHF. They will oversee delivery of specific activities ensuring targets and timelines are adhered to and the prudent financial management of the development phase budget. They’ll produce reports and feedback to funders and the project board and steering group regarding progress as well as identifying opportunities to share best practice to maximise opportunities.

This is an 18 month fixed term position. Should our funding bid for the subsequent five-year ‘delivery’ phase be successful, we hope the PDM will remain in post to support the delivery of these plans.

THE CANDIDATE
You’ll have experience in project development, leadership and delivery in the environment, conservation or heritage sector including experience in managing contractors and consultants. You’ll have the ability to monitor, evaluate and learn from the project progress, using your excellent communication skills to report back to the funders and project board. 

You will have experience building meaningful working relationships with a range of key stakeholders, engaging effectively with them to be involved and inspired by our work and ensuring maximised potential impact of the project.  You will have a collaborative approach with experience of working with partners and multiple teams and organisations for a shared purpose.

Hours: 37 hours per week (1 fte)
Location:  Home based, with occasional travel to our Manor Yard office in Dorset, and other locations for meetings as required

As Analyst, you will be responsible for data and insights collected from across Projects, Programme and Marketing activity to inform the company’s strategies. You will be detail oriented with a quantitative and qualitative mindset. 

This role will help to inform strategies for the Create Equity Collectives  (Includes Create Equity Ltd, Create Equity 2031 and MeWe360). 

1. Responsibility for analytical module

The Network Systems Manager maintains an overview of all DCS (Data Collection System) related activity and is responsible for ensuring that the development, maintenance and technical changes are conducted succinctly and delivered successfully in line with strategic goals across the entire organisation. 

Role responsibilities 

• To design and deliver a roadmap for the development of the Data Collection System, in line with the Trussell Trust’s strategic goals, and in collaboration with key stakeholders. 

• To manage the acquisition of DCS projects/changes, assessing value to different user groups using qualitative and quantitative analytical data to plan future support and development requirements of the system 

• Project management of large scale changes to the DCS and related systems, including the creation of project documentation, providing a consistent and accessible monitoring process for internal stakeholders. 

• To maintain and provide expert knowledge of the DCS across the organisation monitoring and reporting on key changes and development, user performance, stakeholder feedback and data requests.

• To work closely with the Network Services Manager in; providing a point of escalation for user and team technical support; offering support to project leads in the communicating of changes, development, testing and implementation of DCS-related activity. 

• Manage the day to day relationship with the system developers (Bit Zesty) to ensure support hours are appropriately used to maintain, update and fix bugs, and that all work (including projects) is delivered within budget and in a timely manner. 

• Provide leadership, direction, support and line management. This will include regular 1:1s and annual reviews to ensure objectives and key results are met.

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Press and Campaigns Officer to raise the profile of Carers First, building our brand awareness and engagement levels to reach new carers. The successful candidate will also help to raise awareness of the issues affecting carers and be responsible for our press and media activity, helping us to secure national and local coverage. 
You will work to increase the charity’s local presence improving visibility and helping to increase engagement with Carers First across all the areas in which we work, supporting with the development and delivery of our campaigns and projects.
To be successful you will require 1-2 years of experience in a public relations or communications position, ideally within the charity or public sectors, excellent IT skills including ability to use Microsoft Office suite, along with superb organisational skills with a proven ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines and show attention to detail.

Through management of the policy and public affairs function in Northern Ireland, the Policy & Public Affairs Manager will ensure the Trussell Trust strengthens its influence in Northern Ireland and helps bring about the policy changes required to end the need for food banks. 

Using specialist policy knowledge about the structural causes of poverty and hunger in Northern Ireland and the UK, and sound political and procedural knowledge, the Policy & Public Affairs Manager will ensure our policy influencing has a robust evidence base and manage advocacy strategies to achieve policy change at different levels of government, with a particular focus on national government in NI (Stormont) and ensuring close alignment with the Trussell Trust’s work to influence the UK Government (Westminster). 

Role responsibilities 

• Strategy: Support the Northern Ireland Network Lead in the development and delivery of the Changing Policy strand of the Trussell Trust’s organisational strategy, with a specific focus on the role of key stakeholders in NI in ending the need for food banks, and supporting the alignment of policy advocacy across the UK nations and regions. 

• Policy advocacy plans: Establish and maintain momentum in policy advocacy plans for the Trussell Trust in NI, and inform wider influencing across audiences, through strong internal networks. 

• Policy and public affairs:  Support the Northern Ireland Network Lead with developing and implementing the Trussell Trust’s policy positions on priority issues and public affairs activity in support of our changing policy goals, including impact measurement. 

• Research and analysis: Undertake research and analysis and disseminate research findings to a range of audiences through written and verbal briefings, working collaboratively with the Research and Operations teams to build a robust evidence base for the organisation’s policy and public affairs activity in NI. 

• Partnerships and networks: Build collaborative external partnerships and develop networks to strengthen policy and public affairs activity in NI and represent the Trussell Trust and promote the organisation’s policy positions to external stakeholders and audiences, including NI Government and the media. 

• Campaigns: Work with OLM colleagues and the Northern Ireland Network Lead to ensure campaigning activity supports and strengthens policy and public affairs work, and the organisation amplifies the voice of the food bank network and people with lived experience of poverty.
