Our Communications Officer plays a key role in our central Communications team, working collaboratively with colleagues to create impactful messages which are consistent, clear and well-framed. Through this work, you’ll support thousands of people across three key work programmes – Behaviour Change, Culture Shift and Information and Advice. You’ll have a particular focus on supporting people to share their experiences by working empathetically to gather and develop a diverse range of compelling personal stories on alcohol and alcohol harm, and working with colleagues to bring them to life across our channels. Role purpose
Our new Household Crisis Caseworker position will work alongside our Crisis Alternative Service, Ealing Safe Space and information and advice service, Pathways. This new service provides support for Ealing residents 18+ who are experiencing household crises such as: housing, debt, welfare benefits, employment. This service aims to support those facing cost of living / household crises, by providing 6-12 casework sessions. This service will primarily support those from low-income households in need, pensioners, unpaid carers, care leavers, single-person households, disabled people and those struggling with one-off financial concerns or unforeseen circumstances. These sessions will cover a range of elements and will aid in navigating and liaising with services. Ultimately, preventing further crises relating to cost of living and empowering individuals by providing self-advocacy tools and support plans.

The role of the caseworker will be to provide advice, guidance and navigation to Ealing residents experiencing cost of living and household crises exacerbating mental health struggles. Support offered to each individual will be person-centred and tailored, but may include: liaising with statutory services (housing officers, social workers, mental health teams etc), supporting with form filling, sourcing warm goods, supporting with grants and income maximisation, emergency applications, empowering individuals with self-advocacy skills, signposting etc.

The successful candidate will triage, onboard and manage a caseload 15-20 individuals, whilst also supporting those who drop-in to the service who require crisis intervention on the day. In addition to crisis work, the caseworker will be expected to adopt a preventative approach and encourage referrals before a crisis occurs, via partnership working both internally and externally. There will be an element of outreach working for this post. The successful candidate will work alongside our Ealing Safe Space team and be supported by the Safe Space Team Manager.

The caseworker will be required to work within the Advice Quality Standard framework (AQS), adhere to Mind’s policies and procedures.

Due to the nature of the work, if successful, you will need to have an up-to-date DBS check completed prior to undertaking unsupervised client work.  

Key Responsibilities

• Triage, onboard and support a caseload of 15-20 individuals
• Triage and support individuals dropping into the service for household / cost of living crisis support
• Liaise with core agencies (social services, housing, mental health teams, GPs, VCSE organisations)  
• Provide advice and information relating to all welfare benefits, including assisting clients with form filling and contacting agencies such as the Department for Work & Pensions on the individuals’ behalf
• Complete emergency applications and grant applications
• Devise and facilitate guided mental health sessions, exploring a range of topics such as anxiety and panic, sleep hygiene, financial management
• Provide housing, general money and debt management advice
• Provide information on employment opportunities and training support for clients
• Where appropriate, source warm goods for those in need
• Engage in outreach within the borough to encourage referrals and promote the service
• Signpost to other relevant services in the borough, or further afield
• Attend training, forums and meetings to ensure knowledge remains relevant and up to date
• Keep up to date about current best practice and legislation within mental health, as well as within the field of information & advice more generally
• Provide updates and feedback to the broader teams

The Restart Project helps people transform their relationship with electronics by supporting groups to teach repair at community events, developing fixing spaces and campaigning for a Right to Repair and better waste policy. We are looking for a strong project manager to be our new Fixing Factory Co-Lead.

What is a Fixing Factory? Fixing Factories do what they say on the tin! We help people fix their broken electricals and learn new fixing skills, shifting us from our current take-make-waste linear system towards a repair economy fit for the future. They generate public interest in repair. Through a series of stepping stone activities, we take people from never having looked inside an electrical item towards, if they wish, fixing for others. 

The Fixing Factories is a partnership between The Restart Project and Possible, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. It launched in April 2022 with two initial sites in Brent (now closed) and Camden. After the initial development grant we secured funding to continue the Camden site, and open and mature three additional sites in London, including one which has already opened in Hackney, with a proportion of our focus being on long-term financial self-sustainability and scaling the model across the UK. The Restart Project is leading on the delivery of two sites, one in Hackney and another future London location (4th site), whilst Possible lead on the established Fixing Factory in Camden and an upcoming Haringey site.

Each new Fixing Factory site will grow and nurture a community of repairers, be strongly linked with local residents and stakeholders, and be driven by engaged teams of volunteers. There will be a range of offers; from free community repair events to paid workshops and retail - as we develop a replicable model which will support our long term goal of ‘a Fixing Factory in every high street’. 

About the role

The focus of this role will be overseeing the Hackney Fixing Factory, launching a 4th site (subject to funding), and working with existing repair group communities, the council, and other partners in those areas. You will be bringing to life an already developed business model, ensuring that the Fixing Factories are run in a safe, effective and financially sustainable way, as well as responding to the needs of the community and continuing to strategically develop the Fixing Factories programme.

You will be working with the Fixing Factory workshop managers, who are responsible for day to day operations at the sites, ensuring income generation targets are being met, driving the development of our accredited skills and training programme with support from consultants and ensuring the Fixing Factories are scalable and replicable.

This role involves a combination of strategic development of the overarching Fixing Factories project, on which you’ll work closely with a counterpart at Possible, oversight of the two sites that Restart is responsible for and the workshop managers that manage their day to day operations.

In this key position, you will manage a diverse portfolio of high-value donors and collective fund accounts, overseeing financial administration, client communications, and compliance. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring funds are distributed efficiently and effectively to charities and social enterprises worldwide.

As a Relationship Manager you will:

• Manage and nurture relationships with High-Net-Worth donors and collective fund clients.
• Administer client finances including bookkeeping, reconciliation, cash flow, payments, and donation reporting.
• Ensure compliance with UK charity law and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with clients, intermediaries, grantees, and third-party service providers.
• Support external communications, events, and networking to grow the organisation’s profile.
• Maintain office systems and provide administrative support as needed.

To be successful, you must have experience:

• Experienced in delivering exceptional service to HNW/UHNW individuals, with a genuine passion for philanthropy.
• Knowledgeable about the charity sector and grant making processes.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and compliance skills.
• An excellent communicator, confident in both verbal and written forms.
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office and comfortable working with sensitive data.
• A collaborative team player with a positive attitude and eagerness to learn.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, experienced people professional with a strong generalist background ideally in the sports, events or the arts sector. You’re strategic yet hands-on, approachable, and inclusive, with great communication and problem-solving skills. Ideally CIPD-qualified (or working towards it), you’re passionate about people, purpose-led work, and the power of sport to bring communities together. You’ll also need a solid understanding of employment law and HR best practice.

• Develop and implement a robust search engine optimisation (SEO) and link-building strategy to improve website health, attract relevant traffic, and support user acquisition targets.
• Deliver key digital projects focused on enhancing campaign effectiveness and maximising income and impact, including:
