Bank Support Workers have the ability to accept any shifts available on an ad-hoc basis across from all of Look Ahead's specialisms including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Homelessness and Young People. Bank Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Within Learning Disability services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. Within Mental Health and Homelessness services they will enable vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package. While carrying out activities, Bank Support Workers should deal with all customers, visitors and staff in a professional and appropriate manner and report to Look Ahead staff and management any observations relating to customers' welfare.

Shift work via Rota.

What you'll do:

Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers
Conducting key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'
Proactively manage risk and safety both in and outside of their physical living environment
Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards
Report any observations relating to customers welfare
Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local area to provide a range of engagement opportunities for customers in the community

Groundswell is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that focuses on peace-building, countering social harms and creating more resilient communities. Groundswell Project is seeking to recruit community connectors to work on a Big Lottery funded project called ‘Together we are’. This project seeks to implement Groundswell’s ‘Find, Connect, Amplify’ approach in four cities in the UK, namely London, Manchester, Glasgow and Luton. These roles are tasked with mapping community based groups in their respective cities, offering them support, connecting them with local statutory partners and putting on events that allow said groups to expand their outreach in the local area. Ultimately, the aim of the role is to ensure local community groups are better connected, much more visible and, thus, more effective. We are currently recruiting for a Luton based connector.

As Complex Needs Practitioner you will engage young people in a variety of interventions, using a person-centred approach, empowering them to reduce risk, increase resilience and achieve positive outcomes.

Birmingham Young People’s Service provides holistic support services for young people 10 to 25 with needs related to alcohol and substance misuse, including those that are affected by a family members alcohol and substance misuse.

All Complex Needs Practitioners are expected to work days, evenings, and weekends across the community and within our multi-agency partnership settings, when required. Which will need a flexible working pattern from the successful candidate. The caseload will include a mixture of community and multi-agency referral pathways including health, social care, education, youth provision, and criminal justice.

As an energetic and confident self-starter, you will have a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or above, Dip SW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies).  Alternatively, we will consider candidates with experience of working in the health & social care field, education settings, alcohol, and substance misuse fields with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care.

We’re looking for two self-starting team members who will help coordinate our JUMP befriending project for unaccompanied asylum seekers and refugees.

You’ll be responsible for half of the befriending pairs (currently 28, increasing to 50 in the coming months) and undertake tasks such as working with our partner organisations, managing referrals for young people, recruiting volunteer befrienders, and setting-up and sustaining pairs. This includes leading an initial training day.

You’ll also provide JUMP young people with casework support, help organise our group events and facilitate support from our Hardship Fund.

Main functions

Supporting young people and the JUMP Community

1. Managing a caseload of young people; including offering casework support; arranging and attending appointments with the young person where necessary and signposting to available support.
2. Helping plan and organise quarterly group events.
3. Conducting initial assessments with young people to understand their needs, and once paired with a volunteer, hosting befriending initial meetings.

 Supervising and supporting volunteers

1. Recruiting, interviewing and onboarding new befrienders, including organising and delivering training.
2. Supporting befriending volunteers through regular supervisions, meetings, emails and phone calls, and responding promptly to any safeguarding concerns raised.
3. Ensuring that volunteers uphold JUMP’s policies and boundaries for befriending.

Publicising JUMP, and engaging with key stakeholders

1. Publicising the project to existing and potential referral agencies, and establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with them.
2. Representing HIAS+JCORE and JUMP in the refugee sector as required, for example at the Refugee and Migrant Children’s Consortium (RMCC) meetings.

Project monitoring, evaluation and record keeping

1. Working with experts and the JUMP Project Manager on supporting the project and its evaluation, and keeping accurate records in JUMP’s database.

Other Duties

1. Ensuring that JUMP informs our campaigns, communications and education work. As the project develops, there will be opportunities for the post-holder to contribute to and support these areas of our work.

• Ability to support, develop rapport and trust with, and motivate both young people and volunteers from a range of backgrounds and ages in challenging circumstances, including the ability to facilitate and engage in cross cultural communication.
• Knowledge of issues facing separated asylum seeking and refugee children and young people, and the rights and entitlements of ‘Looked After’ children and young people.
• Understanding of the current context surrounding immigration, asylum and welfare issues facing children and young people in the UK today.
• Understanding of Child Protection and Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding, and ability to communicate this to volunteers.
• Understanding of youth work principles and methods, including the benefits and challenges of befriending and other participatory methods.
• Ability to network in the refugee sector and develop strong working relationships.
• Ability to work independently and to self-motivate.
• Commitment to HIAS+JCORE values, social justice and antiracism.
• The ability to communicate in languages other than English, in particular Arabic, Spanish and French (desirable)

Essential

• A track record of working directly with asylum seeking and refugee children and young people.

Oaklands & St Kilda is a pair of 6 unit supported accommodation mental health rehab services working with young people between the ages of 18-25 who may have experienced a mental health-related hospital admission to gain and develop skills for future independent living. The service will support individuals transitioning from Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to Adult services.

The service forms part of a pair of services supporting up to 12 individuals at any one time across the sites, providing a welcoming and supportive environment for young people across London on a spot purchase basis.

The service aims to support young people to achieve greater independence, manage symptoms of mental health and engage in their local communities.

This role requires a valid Right to Work for the UK as Look Ahead are not a sponsoring organisation.

What you'll do:

As the Service Manager you will be responsible for the effective management of all aspects of service delivery, including line managing the relevant front line staff as well as effectively managing all stakeholder relationships in partnership with the Head of Service.

Drive business planning activities within your contract, ensuring relevant and challenging objective setting and ongoing performance tracking, developing turn around action plans as may be necessary
Using sound financial and accounting principles, manage contract budgets to deliver on corporate and local contract financial targets
Successfully lead and motivate your team to ensure the championing of and maintenance of a positive local culture within your service
Work to continuously improve staff competence, ensure ownership of all staff issues and speedy and effective conflict resolution
Responsible for reporting all staff changes to HR and Payroll departments, as appropriate e.g. starters, leavers, additional hours etc.
Responsible for maintaining quarterly staff succession plans
Deliver effective, professional and commercially focused briefings and supervision meetings with staff and ensure that information, reporting & communications flow up/down is effective
Responsible for managing and allocating ??customers to support staff (casework management)
Develop key business relationships with all relevant customers/external parties to ensure service delivery excellence and maximise new business opportunities in own patch

Essential:

?Educated to degree level or equivalent
Experience of managing contracts and resources, delivering to budget and performance targets
Experience of delivering to housing management performance targets
Experience of effectively managing and developing staff to ensure delivery of services performance targets within contract
Experience of successfully managing external partnerships to ensure successful delivery of services
Holds relevant CMI/NVQ Level 4 or other Business/Management Qualification
Capable of learning and demonstrating proficiency with a variety of digital systems.

They are looking for a new Assistant Coach, to work alongside the Centre Manager, as part of the team at Citizen Church to deliver the Spear Programme, equipping and empowering unemployed 16–24 year olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.

The important stuff 

Salary: £21,500 p.a. pro rata for part-time role (£10,750) 

Hours: Part time, 2.5 days per week, between 9.30am – 5.30pm, Tuesday – Thursday (with some flexibility and occasional evening or weekend work for events such as Spear Celebrations)

Key Responsibilities

Spear Programme

• Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work
• Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear Trainees. This includes running application workshops with past Trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.

Relationship management

• Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations
• You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre

Church Community

• The Spear Coach is directly employed by Citizen Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community
• Help to raise the profile of the Spear programme within Citizen Church and build a network of supporters and volunteers from the congregation
• Other ad hoc church responsibilities from time to time.

Right now, we are looking for someone like you to join our enhanced substance misuse family safeguarding team in Birmingham which specialises in reducing the harms caused to young people and families as a result of parental substance misuse whilst improving parenting ability and family functioning to reduce family breakdown.

Aquarius work with families and young people across a range of home and community settings supporting parents to build insight into the impact of substance misuse whilst developing safety and risk management strategies to minimise risk to the wider family.

Your challenge? To support and deliver a new family model within Birmingham working closely with substance misuse treatment providers, and Childrens Health and Social Care. You will deliver specialist interventions as part of our intensive family support programme exploring risk factors such as substance use, supporting affected adults such as Kinship carers, supporting mental health and reducing parental/family conflict. This will be delivered through 1:1 support, 5 step focused sessions, education groups, family support groups; and accredited parenting programmes including M-PACT. Applicants must be committed to attending training for parent training programmes, as well as contributing to the delivery of hidden harm and FASD training to professionals across Birmingham.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person to help develop this service and expand the family support options to support complex families in Birmingham with the aim of improving outcomes for all family members affected by parental substance misuse.

An energetic and confident self-starter, you will need a passion for working with families supported by a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we will consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field. As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you will have experience of liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals. You will also have experience of engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings.  You will have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality and excellent record keeping and Microsoft Office.

This is a permanent full-time role requiring the post-holder to work 37 hours per week.
