As the Data Engineer, you will be responsible for constructing and maintaining the Enterprise Data Platform, including data ingestion pipelines and data models. Working closely with colleagues in the Information Team and across the organisation, you will create and implement data solutions to ensure accessibility, accuracy, and automation of processes, thereby realising the value of data.

Other responsibilities (but not limited to)

• Construct the Enterprise Data Platform to swiftly provide clean, secure, and reliable data, including ingestion pipelines and relevant models meeting business needs. Ensure thorough documentation of processes.
• Successfully manage and maintain data throughout its lifecycle, from extraction to presentation to end users.
• Ensure the data environment is optimised for its intended purpose, including the Enterprise Data Platform running efficiently and reliably. Recommend and implement improvements that are thoroughly tested, adhering to applicable architecture principles.

About you

• Experience of developing data integration solutions, managing complex data migrations, and of code development to ensure that data is integrated appropriately across and within systems.
• Knowledge and experience of enterprise data warehousing and data integration
• Understanding of relational database structures, principles and practices.
• Experience of working with datasets in a complex operational environment
• Database Administration background and experienced SQL developer

Partnership and Community Response:

Safeguarding and Compliance:

• Ensure client welfare according to safeguarding policies and procedures.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Digital and Social Media Marketing Manager will craft exciting, engaging digital and social media campaigns that deliver results for a range of audiences. The postholder will create and edit web pages using WordPress (no coding required) and deliver targeted paid-for advertising campaigns in Google Ads and LinkedIn Ads. The new Digital and Social Media Marketing Manager will also act as marketing lead for Hand in Hand’s cause related marketing partners, including creating social content, drafting blogs and press releases, working closely with the fundraising team.

To be successful, you will have marketing experience either in an in-house, or agency role, with excellent writing, editing and storytelling skills. You will be a competent digital marketer, with experience using digital marketing tools (e.g. MailChimp or HubSpot), and design tools such as Canva. You will be an effective and thoughtful communicator, able to build effective relationships with colleagues and corporate donors. It is desirable, but not a necessity to have experience, or understanding of the charity sector, women’s rights, and/or International Development.

As an active participant in Elrha’s Leadership Group, the post holder also leads Elrha’s organisational objective to build a stronger relationship between research, innovation and humanitarian practice.

The successful candidate will be an experienced humanitarian professional with a high level of academic training (PhD or Masters) and extensive experience in humanitarian research, ideally in public health. You will have significant experience in programme management, research and innovation, knowledge management and MEAL. You will excel in scoping, developing and maintaining relationships with partner organisations and external agencies to meet mutual goals and for programme expansion. You will have experience in programme design and grant management at a senior level within the humanitarian sector.

Cancer52 is a national organisation, created in 2007 by Professor Sir Mike Richards, CBE, then National Clinical Director for Cancer, and registered as a charity in England and Wales in September 2017.

We are an exceptional organisation, providing one voice for all those affected by rare and less common cancers.  Historically, these cancers have been underrepresented and under-funded.  Today, they represent 47% of people diagnosed with cancer, but 55% of all cancer deaths – a hidden majority.  Cancer52’s aim is to change this by taking the collective voice of our members to those who influence cancer policy, research, services and treatment.

Cancer52 is recognised for its strong convening role, bringing together our 115 member charities with organisations in industry, government, the NHS and other stakeholders to address the inequalities faced by patients with rare and less common cancers.  Our reputation is strong and we are in a unique position to provide a common voice for these underrepresented cancers.  The figures for people with these cancers are challenging and there is much work to do.

After a hugely successful tenure during which Cancer52’s size and influence has grown dramatically, our current CEO is retiring from full time work in July. The Board of Trustees is now seeking to appoint a successor to build on the successes and achievements of recent years.

To be our next Chief Executive, you will be a talented leader, able to motivate and empower others  and develop strong internal and external stakeholder relationships. You will also be an inspiring and authentic individual who is passionate, confident and engaging as the key spokesperson of the organisation and a representative of the diverse Cancer52 membership.

You will be capable of influencing decisions at senior levels of government, in the NHS and in partner organisations operating in the fields of cancer research, prevention, diagnosis and treatment. As our Chief Executive, your role is to be a key proponent of the campaigning and influencing drive of the charity, setting the overall strategy and vision for the organisation.

In addition to the core management competencies required, the role requires demonstrable leadership which will inspire others, along with a comprehensive understanding of Cancer52’s purpose and the problems faced by those charities and organisations representing the rare and less common cancer communities.

Effective networking will be a key skill set, and will enable you to actively seek out, engage and establish productive relationships with political decision makers, NHS leadership and charity CEOs to further our goals.  Your approach will be collaborative, motivating stakeholders to engage with our work.

As the Individual Giving Manager, you will be responsible for delivering the organisations cash programme and implementing the mid-value strategy. To be successful as the Individual Giving Manager, you will have proven experience of direct marketing and ideally within a fundraising environment. This person will need to understand how to use data segmentation and analysis to make informed decisions on individual giving strategy. Leading projects, this person will need to be able to work autonomously and collaboratively to bring teams together.
