Our Muscle Group meetings provide a warm, friendly space for people affected by muscle-wasting and weakening conditions to meet with others in their local area. The groups meet either in person or on Zoom; three meetings per year are held in each of the 14 regions. Muscle Group meetings are a relaxed, confidential forum for people to ask questions, share experiences and learn from guest speakers. They should be fully accessible to all, including family, friends, and carers of those living with conditions.
You will lead on the organisation of these meetings and management of the volunteers who chair them, ensuring throughout that meetings meet the needs of our community.
You will also support the Volunteer Engagement Manager to ensure that volunteers across the organisation are recruited, trained and managed effectively. Here at MDUK, it’s important that all our volunteers are supported in their roles – this includes an induction process that sets clear expectations and provides the training and resources they need, regular open communication with employees, and opportunities for peer-to-peer volunteer support. Team members will work with volunteers to ensure we’re making the best use of their skills and experience and that they get the most they can from their role.

The Role:
As the Partnerships Officer, you will support the Partnerships Team on business development, managing a portfolio of small trusts, foundations, and donors, as well as researching new opportunities.
Our places and volunteers are crucial to us. They know their communities best. This role will support our local Delivery teams to build new partnerships and grow our places. The role will also platform the voices of our volunteers to lead the development of our services. This post will play a key role in the Partnerships Team.
Your core responsibilities will consist of supporting the Partnerships team & wider organisation in growing Volunteering Matters and its family of brands. Managing a portfolio of small trusts, foundations, and donors; supporting the Partnerships team & wider organisation with relationship management of major donors as well as developing and researching opportunities for business development with regional partners and stakeholders.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the Partnerships team and wider organisation to grow Volunteering Matters locally.
- Manage a portfolio of small trusts, foundations, and donors, including leading on small trust applications & reports.
- Support the Partnerships Team with the management of major trusts, foundations, and donors.
- Play a key role in the upkeep of our library of information.
- Stay updated on local opportunities and feed into place-based plan.
- Develop and research opportunities for business development with partners and stakeholders including scoping opportunities and attending market engagement events.
- Play a key role in the Partnerships Team, helping to collaborate with the wider directorate and organisation to create locally informed and systematic approaches to income generation.

Role purpose
This role would suit someone with at least 2 years’ experience in a charity finance role, who has experience or knowledge of all the core accounts department processes and some understanding of different charity income streams. You might be studying for an accounting qualification (e.g. AAT or ACCA) or be qualified by experience.
A training package may be available for an applicable accounting qualification.
Responsibilities
- Day to day management and systems administration of Xero accounting software, expenses software (ExpenseIn), and other linked financial applications.
- Carry out monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, debtors and creditors, and set up payment runs.
- Prepare monthly management accounts journals (prepayments, accruals, depreciation, deferred and accrued income) and control account reconciliations.
- Being the systems administrator for the Fundraising CRM system (Donorfy) and linked platforms and applications (e.g. JustGiving, Stripe, EventBright).
- Database management of Donorfy and linked platforms and applications.
- Reconcile data between Donorfy and Xero, and where necessary, with other linked platforms and applications.
- Ensure Gift Aid returns are correctly submitted to HMRC (via Donorfy)
- Support with the development and implementation of new systems and procedures.
- Provide training and induction to new joiners in using Donorfy and ExpenseIn as well as for any other relevant platforms and applications.
- Business partnering - provide day to day support to the wider organisation with finance and fundraising system queries, payment information, and supplier queries.
- Working with budget holders to provide transaction reports, income and expenditure reports, and updates on payments from finance and fundraising systems to assist them to manage their project budgets.
- Assist Finance Director and Fundraising team where necessary with financial reporting to funders.
Skills/ experience
Essential
- Proven experience in all areas of accounts - purchase and sales ledger, banking and cash management, basic management accounts.
- Experience of Xero or similar cloud-based finance system.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly excel and an ability to quickly learn new systems.

The Role
As a Marketing Officer (copywriting and content) you will build brand awareness and help to ensure the Yorkshire Cancer Research brand is accurately and consistently presented at all times.
Supporting the the Marketing Manager you will ensure consistency in brand messaging, tone of voice and visual brand representation. You will extend the charity’s reach across Yorkshire by supporting the delivery of integrated marketing and fundraising campaigns. Develop high-quality, supporter-focused written marketing communications for a broad range of channels and supporter touchpoints. Job Purpose:
- Contribute to hyh’s overall Fundraising strategy as a member of the Fundraising Team
- Have day to day responsibility for the Individual Giving income stream
- Manage a portfolio of existing Individual Giving supporters, providing exceptional supporter care and building relationships, stewarding and nurturing existing donors.
- Improve supporter retention and maximise donors’ lifetime value to hyh
- Manage, develop and lead on the use of hyh’s CRM effectively to segment data and make insight-led decisions. This includes developing new reports, liaising with the external CRM consultant to make improvements, writing up procedures and training members of the team in best practice.
- Acquire and develop new donors through solicitation and stewardship plans using a supporter journey programme to build engagement and loyalty.
- Develop marketing and comms materials through digital and other channels to deliver the programme.
- Maximise all opportunities to develop regular giving, appeals, one-off occasion donations, in-mem and legacy

About the role
You will co-ordinate all aspects of the ‘Together Versus Arthritis’ project within the area, which involves recruiting volunteers, service promotion and building relationships in the community. You will be responsible for supporting volunteers to deliver services, as well as monitoring and evaluation, so that we can effectively demonstrate the impact the service is making.
The service offers peer-led self-management and physical activity courses both within communities and online. Courses are designed to support people to develop the confidence, knowledge, and skills to live well with their condition.
You will help us to develop and pilot services for young people transitioning from our Young People and families service to adult services.
You will help us to ensure our services reach diverse communities in the Northwest, by co-producing resources, building partnerships and testing ways of working.
