About the role:

Prize led fundraised income is a significant source of funds for Children’s Hospice South West ensuring our vital care for children and young people with life limiting conditions continues.
You will be responsible for leading and developing all aspects of the weekly CHSW Raise a Smile lottery and annual raffles ensuring compliance with Gambling Commission legislation and regulations. The role involves overseeing our ELM to ensure our lottery draws and administration run smoothly and are compliant as well as developing both our internal face to face team and our managing our external agency relationship to bring in high quality sign ups.
You will work alongside our creative team to develop branding, messaging and promotional materials and campaigns in addition to delivering excellent stewardship to retain and develop the lifetime value of every supporter.

You will be working closely with external agencies, the finance, marketing and income processing teams. You will therefore be able to work on your own initiative as well as being a good team player This is a busy role within a supportive and hard working team.

About you:

• We are looking for someone who has experience in lottery management and administration in a charity environment. It is essential to have a working knowledge of the Gambling Commission, LCCP and it would be advantageous if you had experience of working with external lottery providers.
• Demonstrable knowledge of lottery legislation and regulations
• Experience of developing business plans, financial projections and working to budgets and operating targets
• Training and knowledge of key aspects of people management

Job Summary

The Philanthropy officer will contribute toward income generation through a portfolio of current trust and foundations, as well as by researching and engaging new opportunities across the philanthropy team.

Job Purpose

After a recent strategy review, the Philanthropy team is looking for a new Philanthropy Officer. The philanthropy team consists of a Senior Trusts and Statutory Fundraising Manager and Director of Income, and sits within a wider team responsible for Income generation. Among other tasks, the successful candidate will take the lead on a personal portfolio of Trusts and Foundations, which give at a level of  up to £50,000.

The post-holder will have responsibility for small trusts mailings (postal and email) and online applications through funder websites under the guidance of the Senior Trusts and Statutory Fundraising Manager. The postholder will also be responsible for researching new and existing prospects and opportunities across the philanthropy team, using tools such as GrantFinder, writing reports for small trusts and foundations, and supporting events and donor meetings. 

Whilst we begin to enjoy increasing support from Trusts and Foundations, we currently have a limited number of individual major donors, and are actively working to increase donors in both areas. While experience in fundraising is not necessary, we are looking for someone who is excited about the opportunity to build on their writing and engagement skills and to  support the team in building an individual donor pipeline and develop relationships with new trust, as well as maintaining existing relationships through communications and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for a personal portfolio of donors, primarily Trusts and Foundations, giving at a level of up to £50,000;
• Responsibility, alongside the rest of the philanthropy team, for an annual income of £3m;
• Proactivity in identifying and researching new prospects and opportunities for the philanthropy team;
• Support with planning events, as well as briefing senior staff on key details and attendees;
• Keeping donors and prospects up to date with scheduled reporting, newsletters and key information about Mental Health Innovations and key projects they support;
• Ad hoc administrative support for the Income Team where required, including responsibility for monitoring and thanking lower level donations.

Essential Criteria

• Strong organisational skills to be able to manage a varied portfolio of up to 150 small trusts and foundations;
• Excellent written skills to be able to write compelling, concise and articulate fundraising applications and reports;
• Competent administrative abilities to be able to keep systems e.g. Salesforce and spreadsheets up to date, alongside using prospecting tools like GrantFinder;
• Exceptional time-management skills to be able to keep on top of all responsibilities outlined above;
• Excellent relationship management skills via phone, in person, and in writing;
• Strong communications skills and the ability to write and speak persuasively about Mental Health Innovation’s important work;
•  Ability to distil complex data and statistics into comprehensive, clear reports for donors and prospects.

Desirable Criteria

• An understanding of philanthropy CRM systems and search portals including Salesforce and Grantfinder;
• Experience of working as a team;
• Understanding of the charity sector and funding processes.

This role supports the delivery of our Individual Giving programme, specifically in support of our Puppy Sponsorship Scheme. The delivery of exceptional supporter care across multiple channels lies at the heart of the Supporter Services team and forms an integral part of the Individual Giving retention strategy. • Process telephone, post and email enquiries/donations regarding and related to the Puppy Sponsorship Scheme, and ensure that all queries are responded to and resolved within recommended stewardship guidelines and timeframes for the team.
• Assist with maintenance of Puppy Sponsorship data on the Charity’s CRM to ensure supporter records are up-to-date and accurate, flagging any issues to the Supporter Services Manager.
• Prepare data for Puppy Sponsorship updates and build email communications.

To be responsible for providing a high standard of supporter care to Demelza’s supporters by responding to written, email, web and telephone enquiries as well as the first point of contact for onsite visitors to ensure excellent supporter engagement.   

You will: 

Input new supporter data and update existing records as needed 
Handle cash and cheque donations adding these directly onto the database to create income batches and ensure reconciliation with the Finance system 
Be the first point of contact for supporters via telephone and visiting in person 
Provide administrative support to all members of the Fundraising Team

Within our Business Development Team there are two vacancies for Projects & Partnerships Officers.  These roles will each look after specific projects under our management.  Some projects managed by the Community Foundation include the Best Kept Village & Community Competition, Trust Transfer projects, and frontline projects supporting rough sleeping, digital exclusion and care leavers, amongst others.  As well as general administrative tasks, you will help to arrange events which support and promote our projects, create resources and manage relationships with our supporters and donors. You will be responsible for the direct delivery of some of our projects, and help to steer future projects and partnership work.  We are especially keen to hear from people with a proven track record in project management, project delivery or from under-represented communities.
