Copy and Content Officer
City Of London, England (Hybrid)
£38570 - £40600 per annum
Full-time
Contract (Fixed term up to 12 months (maternity cover) )
Job description
Fixed term up to 12 months (maternity cover)
Plan International UK is a global charity advancing equality for girls and a just world for all.
Because here’s the truth: around the world, girls still face more risks and fewer choices – and their hard-won freedoms are increasingly under threat.
But girls aren’t backing down and neither are we. Together the plan is still on, until every girl is safe, in school, and can choose her own future. Until we are all equal.
We’re looking for a talented Copy and Content Officer (maternity cover) to help bring our story to life – boldly, clearly and consistently. If you’re a brilliant writer who loves working collaboratively to create powerful content, this is an exciting opportunity to make your words count.
In this role you’ll be our in-house copy expert, working with others to help embed our refreshed challenger brand identity and drive engagement across a variety of formats and channels. You’ll craft and edit impactful copy in line with our recently refreshed tone of voice, house style, brand guidelines and communications principles. You’ll play an active role as part of the Brand and Content team in planning and shaping the content that powers our marketing, fundraising and influencing goals. And you’ll model how to execute ethical creative ideas through the power of words – and help others feel confident doing it too.
This role sits within the Strategic Communications and Content Unit in the Influencing and External Affairs Directorate, working closely with teams across the organisation including the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement Directorate.
To be our successful candidate you’ll:
• have a track record of creating and editing powerful, audience-focused copy across multiple formats and channels.
• be passionate about words and understand their power, selecting them thoughtfully to ensure storytelling is clear, authentic, inclusive and anti-racist.
• be able to demonstrate you’re a true team player and willing to contribute to the operation of a small and creative content team.
• bring strong interpersonal skills that help you ace creative briefs, elevate ideas and strengthen how we communicate right across the organisation.
• have experience helping colleagues improve their writing through clear, constructive guidance that lifts the overall quality of our content.
Please note, this role is not eligible for sponsorship and therefore we are unable to provide sponsorship for this role.
For further detail of this role, please see the job profile.
The deadline for applications is 23:59 on Wednesday 15 April 2026
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 28 April 2026 and Wednesday 29 April 2026
We are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children, young people and adults in our work. We, therefore, apply rigorous recruitment and selection processes to ensure that only those who are suitable are recruited to work for us. Accordingly, appointment to all our roles is subject to a range of vetting checks and for this role this will include a Basic Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check. A criminal record will not necessarily bar you from working for us; this will depend on the circumstances of any offences.
Plan International UK is committed to being an inclusive employer and we welcome applications from candidates from all backgrounds.
