Lead Youth Advocate

Location: Cheshire West and Chester, hybrid with regular travel
Contract: Temporary, 3 months
Hours: Part-time, 28 hours per week
Pay: £16.77 per hour (+ £2.02 holiday pay)

Prospectus is delighted to be supporting our client, a national children's charity, in the search for a temporary Lead Youth Advocate.

This role provides a fantastic opportunity for an experienced youth work professional to make an immediate and meaningful difference in an impactful organisation, supporting children and young people to ensure their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.

Please note that will the role is based around Chester and West Cheshire, the successful candidate must attend induction in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester. This role also requires a valid driving licence and access to your own vehicle (with travel expensed). Please also be aware that this role will be subject to an enhanced DBS check due to the requirement to interact with vulnerable children unsupervised.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of advocacy cases, providing high-quality, child-centred support to children and young people.
• Deliver advocacy support to ensure children and young people's voices, wishes and feelings are heard and represented in decisions affecting their lives.
• Support children and young people to understand their rights, options and entitlements, enabling them to participate in decision-making processes.
• Provide day-to-day guidance, mentoring and practice support to team members, volunteers and student placements.
• Assess, triage and allocate referrals, ensuring an appropriate and timely response based on need, risk and complexity.
• Monitor caseloads, service demand and emerging risks, escalating concerns where appropriate.
• Promote safe practice by identifying, assessing and responding to safeguarding concerns in line with relevant procedures and legislation.
• Support quality assurance activities, including case audits, record reviews and performance monitoring, to maintain high standards of service delivery.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with local authorities, partner organisations and other stakeholders to improve outcomes for children and young people.
• Contribute to service development, continuous improvement initiatives and the promotion of advocacy services and children's rights.
• Maintain accurate records, reports and case documentation in line with organisational, safeguarding and data protection requirements.

Key Requirements:

• Recent, relevant experience in a similar role, with excellent knowledge of advocacy, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.
• High level of organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to build strong stakeholder relationships.
• Collaborative and proactive approach, with the capability to work both independently and in a team.
