Shine’s Health Team 

Shine’s Health Team provides condition-specific health advice and support to people of all ages with spina bifida, hydrocephalus, NPH or IIH, promoting good self-management and enabling our members to live in optimum health.  The Team also aims to reduce the numbers of pregnancies affected by spina bifida and anencephaly through education around supplementation and fortification with folic acid, and other measures. 

Purpose of Job 

The Shine Nurse Specialist will deliver services and create resources to improve the health of Shine’s members, by informing members, their carers and professionals 

Principal Duties 

• To provide ad hoc advice to Shine’s members, their carers  and professionals on complex health issues, and signpost to NHS services 

• To attend and represent Shine at the Chelsea & Westminster Spina Bifida Clinic

• To collect information, statistics and research from a variety of sources to inform Shine’s health projects 

• To create resources to inform and support members’ health 

• To develop training/information resources for professionals 

• To plan and deliver projects, events, presentations and information sessions for members and professionals 

• To provide an information resource for Shine staff

Role summary

The Hardman Trust supports people on long prison sentences to take their next steps in life. As the Programmes and office administrator your role is to help make this a reality through the day-to-day support of our work. You’ll help to ensure our programmes run smoothly, and that our employees have the administrative support they need to provide a quality service to people accessing our products and programmes.

Your role will primarily involve office tasks (post, inboxes, phone calls), as well as providing administration support with our core programmes grants, penfriends and London Support programme. This role is our only office-based role and you will share an office and oversee our office volunteers who are there 3-4 days a week. You will work closely with the broader remote team via online communications. This role may evolve over time, to reflect the changing needs of the charity,

With an enthusiasm for our mission, you will be well-organised, motivated and eager to support those we are here to serve. As the first point of contact for anyone calling or emailing the charity, you will be a responsive problem-solver with great communication skills.

Tasks & responsibilities

1. Office administration

• Oversee the post coming into the office and ensure it is responded to in a reasonable timescale, or forwarded to the relevant staff member. This will be post for our penfriends programme and post for the charity generally.  This may involve printing and scanning documents and registering and banking cheques at a nearby bank.

• Oversee the generic inbox for the charity, responding to queries about our work across all workstreams and forwarding these to the relevant staff member as required.

• Take responsibility for incoming telephone calls to the organisation, responding and taking messages as appropriate.

• Ensure the website is kept up to date with current charity information.

• Complete Safeguarding and Data Protection training to ensure prisoner phone calls, emails, letters and grant applications are dealt with sensitively, safely and appropriately.

• Be the employee office based presence, overseeing and supporting our volunteers with their tasks as required. 

• Support the finance director with any required adhoc tasks eg - phone contracts

2. Grant administration

• Work with the Programme and Volunteer Coordinator to ensure that clear and accurate records are kept on our Salesforce database, concerning our grant programmes:

  • Upload grant applications to the salesforce database

  • Update service user records when a grant decision is made

  • Ensure accurate record keeping regarding types of grants made, and amounts issued, to enable the Programme Coordinator to run reports.

  • Chase people who have been awarded grants but have not claimed them yet

• Send letters to people who have been issued grants and those who have been turned down.

3. Programme administration

• Provide administrative support across all programmes to ensure the staff team have the support required to offer a quality service to people accessing our service. Our current programmes include the London Support Programme and our Penfriends programme. This could include:

• Sending welcome and information letters/ emails to prisoners that may be eligible for our programmes

• Supporting with data entry by transferring handwritten sign-up forms and casenotes into Salesforce.

• Purchasing items required for programme delivery, or for grant applicants. 

• Ensuring letters are sent between penfriends and volunteers. Reviewing these in line with our safety standards and flagging any queries with the programme coordinator.

• Supporting with the recruitment, onboarding and training of programme volunteers (e.g. booking training, tracking volunteer applications, updating the database).

4. Other

• Support with managing the office move

• Support with data collection, record keeping and reporting, as required by the Head of Service Delivery.

• Support with the planning, coordination and administrative tasks for organisational events, such as fundraising events, celebration events and volunteer training sessions.

• To support the wider team, providing holiday cover as required.

• Put the service user at the heart of what you do, act with the interests of our beneficiaries in mind.

Our Community Crisis Cafes offer a safe, welcoming and non-judgmental environment outside of normal working hours for those who feel in mental distress or crisis.

About the Role

This will involve working with service users in a preventative way, assessing needs, deescalating crisis, offering coping strategies, signposting to other services and ensuring they feel supported, through the process of improving their mental health and wellbeing.

Staff will work with a team of Crisis Recovery Workers & volunteers and will, at times, involve working out of the MK Hospital, at Eaglestone Centre, alongside the CNWL NHS team manning 111 option 2 calls and managing referrals.

Service Delivery

• Deliver crisis focussed 1:1s and ensure outcomes which supports individuals experiencing a mental health crisis in Houghton Regis & Central Bedfordshire, in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed crisis service and requirements as well as contract requirements.
• Assessing need and suitability for the service in line with the access to services process, and undertaking 1:1s.
• Contribute to maintaining an effective volunteer workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (workload planning and support).

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

In this role you will lead on maintaining, developing, and delivering all aspects of our charity’s communications strategy and its associated activities, working closely with the Communications Assistant as well as the CEO, Fundraising Lead, Library Manager and Publishing Manager. Primarily an outward facing role, the postholder will ensure that the charity has the broadest possible positive exposure to stakeholders – both current and future – and continue to build Living Paintings into a credible, recognisable and positive brand.

Hours: 28-35 hours per week

Salary: £45,000 - £48,500 FTE

Place of work: Hybrid between home and office in Kingsclere, Newbury (at least 2 days per week in the office preferred).

Working week: Office hours are 9-5 Monday to Friday with one hour for lunch. Flexible working available and we are positively reactive to employees life needs. Some weekend and evening work may be required from time to time for which time off in lieu will be given.

Travel: On rare occasions the successful candidate must be prepared to travel throughout the UK if required. All mileage and travel expenses for business purposes will be reimbursed.

Qualifications:  Educated to degree level of equivalent professional experience.  We would prefer that the successful candidate also have a Fundraising or Marketing qualification.

Duties and Key Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the organisations overarching Communications and Marketing Strategy to enable Living Paintings to reach its ambitions and targets.
• Lead on the development and management of all planned proactive and reactive PR and media activities.
• Lead on all aspects of brand development, management and communications to create a consistent, coherent, credible and recognisable brand.
• Develop, implement and manage processes to ensure campaigns from all departments are integrated, run effectively, efficiently and are impactful.
• Lead on the development of all the charity’s on and offline content.
• Lead on the charity’s social media presence and brand, growing following, engagement and conversions.
• Manage, develop and optimise the charity’s website, email communications and digital offering – championing innovation, implementing effective, conversion-focussed user-journeys.
• Lead on all on and offline marketing activities – including but not limited to SEO, digital/social advertising, print.
• Manage budgets for communications and campaigning activities.
• Maintain positive contact with stakeholders – beneficiaries, families, friends, Trustees.
• Continually develop and monitor KPIs, taking an agile approach to activities to ensure these can be met effectively.
• Regular reporting and presenting on all aspects of communications and marketing.
• Lead on fostering positive relationships with our VIP and Celebrity supporters.
• Work closely with the Library Team to proactively source quality stories from beneficiary groups to feed in to our marketing, communications, PR and fundraising activities.
• Act as a representative and ambassador for Living Paintings at media appearances and events.
• Manage the procurement of and the relationships with freelancers and suppliers employed to support Living Paintings in their campaigns, communications and marketing activities.
• Continually seek out new opportunities to promote the work of Living Paintings.
• Support other members of the Living Paintings team in their personal development and understanding of communications processes.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Partnerships Manager to join our small and dynamic team. This new role will support the Head of Partnerships and wider WFN team in delivering our fundraising strategy, stewarding high-value donor relationships, and unlocking new opportunities for income growth. 

The Partnerships Manager will work directly with some of WFN’s existing portfolio of 30 Major Donors made up primarily of Trusts, Family Foundations and High-Net-Worth Individual (HNWI) supporters, with some Corporates. The Partnerships Manager will maintain close professional relationships with supporters that are bespoke and require excellent interpersonal skills, with most meetings taking place in-person, in central London.

About Young Persons Sanctuary

Our Young Person’s Sanctuarys offer a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental environment outside of normal school hours for those aged 14 – 18 who feel in mental distress or crisis.

About the Role

Our Young Person’s Sanctuarys' Youth Mental Health Worker role will involve assessing needs and offering one to one support to service users to enable them to begin the process of improving their mental health and wellbeing and to providing clarity on services and pathways available in the area. The role will be part of a larger Young Persons Sanctuary team made up of YPS Youth Mental Health Workers, YPS Manager and volunteers.

Service Delivery

• Deliver crisis focussed 1:1s and ensure outcomes which supports young people experiencing a mental health crisis in Milton Keynes, in line with Mind BLMK’s agreed crisis service and requirements as well as contract requirements.
• Assessing need and suitability for the service in line with the access to services process and undertaking 1:1s.
• Contribute to maintaining an effective volunteer workforce for the service in line with Mind BLMK’s HR policies, procedures and guidance (workload planning and support).
• Carry out Cash Handling, Health and Safety and Data Collection responsibilities as directed by the Team Leader in line with Mind BLMK’s policies, procedures, requirements and guidance.
• Attendance to mandatory reflective practice is required for this role. It occurs once every six weeks for one and a half hours.
