In your role as HR Officer who will look after the day to day HR operations from recruitment to onboarding and L&D. This is a diverse role and your duties will include but will not be limited to;
- Assisting with recruitment and selection - including, advertising, and arranging interviews
- Onboarding of new starters including raising contracts
- Updating monthly personnel changes and files
- Assisting with L&D administrator such as finding course providers, and arranging training sessions
- Looking after the HR inbox
In this varied and busy role you are required to effectively manage a variety of different duties and the skills you will bring to the role will include;
- Knowledge of HR confidentiality
- Prior experience in managing high volume recruitment
- Knowledge of HR policies and procedures
- Ability to work as part of a team in varied and busy role

About the Role
The purpose of this role is to lead and shape our People and Culture practices, playing a pivotal contribution in driving the organisation towards its vision and future goals. You’ll collaborate with colleagues at all levels to understand their needs and objectives, ensuring the People and Culture plan facilitates positive organisational change and a great colleague experience for Mind THNR 70 or so staff.
As a key member of the Leadership Team, this role is responsible for ensuring that all human resources functions, including strategy development, governance, staff leadership, and wellbeing, align with and support the overall mission and values of the organisation.
Additionally, the role will be critical in championing diversity and inclusion, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and driving continuous improvement through innovation and strategic leadership.

- CIPD:
Must hold a relevant CIPD qualification, demonstrating a solid HR management and strategic leadership foundation.

We are a thriving student-led organisation, representing 11,500 students at Royal Holloway across our Egham and central London campuses. About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive and managing a small team of Finance and HR personnel, the Head of Finance & Resources position is broad in scope. The post holder will be responsible for the development and implementation of RHSU strategy relating to finance, people and culture, governance and digital infrastructure. The post holder will ensure the delivery and resourcing of operating plans, policy and operating procedures to ensure that the Union delivers its strategic objectives across its support services. The position sits on the Senior Leadership team and will be expected to play a key role in the delivery of our 3 new strategic enabling themes: People & Culture, Well Governed & Sustainable and Physical & Digital Infrastructure.
Key responsibilities are centred around, but not limited to:
Strategic Management and Leadership – including supporting the delivery of the Union’s strategic plan, leading on financial planning, overseeing compliance and forming part of a strong Leadership Team with other senior colleagues and Sabbatical Officers.
People Management – including leading on the People & Culture plan, leading on recruitment and embedding a learning & development culture at RHSU.
Financial Management – including creating a culture of strong financial literacy, leading on all budgeting & forecasting, financial controls, the annual external audit and having overall responsibility for the accuracy of financial records, including but not limited to the organisation’s VAT returns, payroll & pensions, fixed asset portfolio and funds.
Service Development & Delivery – including ownership of contract management, cooperation with the University over block grant funding & IT service provision, leading on change projects around digital infrastructure and both internal & external compliance & reporting.
The successful candidate will play an important role in shaping a key department at RHSU, at an exciting time of change.

Who we’re looking for
We’re looking for an experienced finance professional who is ideally at least part-qualified ACCA, CIMA or ACA. An excellent understanding of charity finance, regulation and governance is required, along with experience of senior level management and leadership in a similar sized organisation.
Skills and experience with developing strategic plans, project/change management and leading on digital infrastructure projects would also be very useful experience to succeed in the role. Strong commercial acumen would be beneficial too -against a backdrop of constantly changing commercial considerations and wider Higher Education sector pressures.
Whilst core finance skills are essential, both at a strategic and operational level – experience in a broader resources role covering HR, IT, governance or compliance would suit this post well. A demonstrable interest and commitment to a values-driven and student-led organisation is also required.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategy and leadership
- Integrate and lead a newly formed Operations team that brings together the contact centre, customer due diligence, charity verification and payments teams, forming an integral part of Giving and Impact Services
- Lead the team in its work to deliver excellent operational support to frontline teams constantly improving service standards and operational efficiency
- Take the lead role in the operations stream of CAF’s strategy with responsibility for day-to-day management of the strategy
- Work closely with colleagues in product to leverage customer insight, make continual improvements to CAF’s products and ensure full integration with the strategy
- Ensure that the size, skills and structure of the new Operations team is commensurate with providing excellent client service and creating a financially sustainable organisation
- Actively foster a customer-centric culture dedicated to finding new and innovative ways to serve all stakeholder groups, maximising impact and effectiveness
- Work closely with HR to ensure effective training and development needs are identified and appropriate programmes are delivered across the division to support succession planning and provide development opportunities

Governance
- Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that CAF maximises the value of its data and implements effective data governance
- Take overall responsibility for the delivery of quality management information ensuring this is shared in a manner that drives continual improvement
- Set and help deliver targets/KPIs across operations to keep the team focussed on the most important activities
- Working with the Managing Director, Giving and Impact and other colleagues to ensure that robust governance is in place especially risk management, financial crime, compliance with charity regulation and governance of BAU activity
- Ensure compliance with all risk management practices and policies across the team
- Ensure timely reporting to regulators including the annual Give As You Earn submission to HMRC
Policy and Process
- Own all Policies and Standards related to: Non-cash donations, Verification and Donor-Led Loans, including their regular review and improvement for better customer outcomes
- Challenge existing processes where they cause inefficiency or result in a poor customer experience, leading on the implementation of alternatives
- Work with the Transformation team to design and develop new systems and processes that improve the customer experience and are easy to manage
Payment processing
- Lead the creation of a new, centralised distribution (payments) unit to create savings in processing time, workflow, cost and resource and deliver better customer outcomes
Due Diligence responsibilities
- Work with the General Counsel and Executive Director for Governance to strengthen the ‘First Line of Defence’ capability within Charities Aid Foundation (UK)
- Accountable for the design and implementation of appropriate controls and processes to ensure they are compliant with internal policies and external regulation, in particular FCA for AML\KYC, HMRC and Charity Commission for gift aid and charity verification
- Accountable for the development and implementation of the Charity Verification policy, ensuring it meets internal policy requirements and those of external regulators such as HMRC and FCA

Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end-of-life charity, is seeking an Associate Director of Local Fundraising to lead their local fundraising operation and ensuring they maximise the value from local relationships.
Marie Curie is the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all four nations delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Their leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and their campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they’re likely to die from.
The Associate Director of Local Fundraising is a senior role within the Income, Innovation and Engagement directorate; a highly ambitious and professional team which is working to grow income and strengthen the organisation’s voice across the UK as the leading end of life care charity in the UK. Marie Curie has ambitious financial growth targets and needs to drive net contribution, engagement and awareness if they are to achieve their fundraising ambitions and subsequently their service growth goals.
The primary focus of the role is to maximise the net contribution from local fundraising but also to drive community awareness and engagement with Marie Curie. This is a key role for Marie Curie, responsible for managing a team of over 100 people and having responsibility for over £20 million Income, the recruitment of legacy prospects, the delivery of fundraising events and the strategic approach of supporter facing volunteers.
The Fundraising teams based in communities across the UK are responsible for raising money, driving legacy sign ups, building event participation and profit and growing awareness and engagement of the need for and impact of the charity’s work amongst supporters and people who have the potential to support Marie Curie. With all local relationships managed by this role’s teams, the post will ensure that supporters have a connected, seamless experience.
The ideal candidate will have senior leadership experience in a fundraising environment with a successful track record in increasing voluntary income or revenue. They will also have experience in developing both annual operational and three-year strategic plans, developing creative and innovative solutions and digital marketing and in working with working with volunteers and engaging local communities. This will be combined with a proven track record in managing large high-performing, geographically dispersed teams.
