Location
Hybrid – with regular travel to shops and centres within Nottinghamshire region. Post holders expected to be working flexibly across their community 4 days out of 5, within minimum 1 day per week from our Nottinghamshire Centre – and attend regular team meetings in an agreed location.
Due to the scope and nature of the role, you will need to live within, or in close proximity to, Nottinghamshire. You will be required to have a valid driving license and access to a car to enable you to travel freely across the area without reliance on public transport.
Salary: £27,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week (with occasional weekend and evening work as and when the role requires)
Role Purpose:
You will be responsible for Community, Events and local Corporate fundraising across the Nottinghamshire Region. You will deliver excellent stewardship to supporters and volunteers and develop relationships with key local contacts who can help to further Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s mission.
You will collaborate with colleagues across the wider charity to ensure you are offering the best possible supporter experience. You will attend local events with, and through, volunteers, work with colleague in our retail sites, and spot other opportunities to promote Jerry Green Dog rescue in your community and drive support for our work.

Key Outputs & Tasks:
Community Fundraising
- Identify, engage and steward individual and group supporters, developing strategies to promote fundraising activities and grow income from your local area.
- Proactively pursue local business partnership opportunities, developing a pipeline of potential corporate support and making applications to secure support.
- Provide high quality stewardship of individual supporters, groups and businesses within the community, responding to enquiries in a timely way and ensuring relationships are developed and maintained at a high standard.
- Represent Jerry Green Dog Rescue as the first point of contact within the community for Nottinghamshire, promoting our mission, vision, and values alongside fundraising and volunteering opportunities.
- Ensure that the fundraising CRM is up-to-date and develop regular reporting mechanisms to inform the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager of outputs and results, and support understanding of local audiences.
- Act as a champion for fundraising compliance across the organisation, ensuring adherence to relevant legislative requirements.
Volunteering
- Work with the Volunteering and Community Fundraising Manager and Volunteering Assistant to recruit, induct and train volunteers to support fundraising and other relevant initiatives in the local community.
- Work collaboratively with the wider organisation to recognise and celebrate volunteers that support the charity.
Other duties
- Contribute content for marketing communications including; social media, newsletters, local media to support marketing objectives and increase our engagement with potential supporters.
- Keep up to date with sector trends and developments in community fundraising and volunteering.
- Work collaboratively and purposefully with your team and the wider department and organisations to build strong working relationships and to be an internal ambassador for Fundraising and Marketing.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Primary Purpose:
The Service Manager works as part of the Charity Operations team and has operational responsibility for the sustainability and development of a range of existing services, developing new service opportunities and taking an active part in influencing change and improvement on behalf of older people..
Main Duties:
- Participate in joint decision making as a member of the services management team in both strategic and operational planning.
- In-line with the organisation’s strategy, prepare an annual plan of activity for all areas of responsibility identifying resource implications.

- Review and revise service operational delivery plans regularly to ensure they are still meeting need. Ensure that the operational plans are cascaded down to the teams.

- Working with the Head of Services and Head of Finance to agree the annual budgets for all areas of responsibility.
- Manage staff performance in all areas of responsibility to achieve expected service outcomes and obligations.
- Ensure that staff and volunteers are fully trained and equipped to meet operational requirements and deliver excellent services.
- Ensure that planned staff absence is organised to ensure that appropriately trained staff are available to provide cover, or acceptable alternative arrangements are in place
- Have a clear view of the achievable outcomes of the work (both quantitative and qualitative). Ensure these expectations are reflected in materials provided to people we work with and in the contractual arrangements agreed with funders.
- Ensure that individual services are meeting their contractual requirements, working closely with the Head of Services and the team to mitigate any risks to this.
- Support the Head of Services in negotiations with existing and potential funders for areas of responsibility.
- Support with the process of writing and submitting tenders and grant applications.
- Working with the Head of Services and Head of Income Generation, develop and deliver income generating activities.
- Identify, develop and manage effective partnerships to continuously improve service delivery
- Represent the organisation as required in a variety of local, regional and national forums and to all types of audience, within the area of expertise.
- Represent older people and advocate on their behalf with health and social care providers, public and private sector care providers, housing, leisure and learning providers, and all kinds of statutory bodies.
- Promote the organisation and its services to the general public.
- Take an active role in policy and procedures meetings.
- Ensure that the organisation policies and procedures are understood and complied with by all staff and volunteers.
- Ensure that the organisation achieves and fully complies with the terms of quality assurance systems and quality marks adopted/achieved by the organisation.
- Establish an understanding in the staff team of the importance of research and evaluation as an integral part of their role and promote a learning culture in all areas.
- Undertake any necessary training to carry out the job.
- Participate in Age UK Cheshire’s fundraising, promotional and social events, working with other members of staff and volunteers.

The Food Manager plays a critical operational leadership role at FareShare South West (FSSW), ensuring that the charity maintains a consistent, safe and high-quality flow of food to community organisations across the region. Supporting the Head of Food & Membership, the post holder is responsible for managing day-to-day food supply, strengthening local sourcing, and building long-term relationships with suppliers and partners.
The role ensures that incoming food—whether from national or local sources—is compliant, well-managed and aligned with operational capacity. It plays a key part in the effective monitoring of stock, the food pipeline and logistics scheduling. The Food Manager leads local sourcing activity, expands food innovations such as frozen and re-labelling, and oversees key food-related projects including the regional Gleaning Programme.
Managing the Food & Community Officer and working closely with Operations, Membership, Fundraising and other internal teams, the Food Manager helps deliver FSSW’s food strategy, reduce waste, and maximise the impact of surplus food redistributed to frontline organisations.
1) Strategy, Performance & Team Management
- Support the Head of Food and Community in the development and delivery of the food strategy, budget and annual targets.
- Monitor weekly performance against agreed plans; provide operational reporting for internal teams and funders.
- Line-manage the Food & Community Officer and HGV Drivers, including recruitment, appraisals, supervision, wellbeing and development.
- Champion values-led leadership and promote effective cross-team communication.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, food safety, health & safety and safeguarding requirements.

2) Food Supply Management
- Support the Head of Food & Community in managing the national supply relationship with FareShare UK/The Felix Project, including communication, throughput data and supply alignment.
- Manage, analyse and report on over/under-deliveries, food quality, cancellations and trends, working closely with Operations and Membership teams.
- Monitor and report the changing food pipeline, helping devise strategies to redistribute gluts and reduce waste.
- Support Operations and the Head of Membership & Food Partnerships with stock-level monitoring across FSSW sites, including stock movement, product types and capacity.
- Working with Operations, Transport and the national partner, lead on logistics schedules for incoming food to maximise volume while ensuring cost-effective solutions.
3) Local Food sourcing:
- Lead delivery of the Local Food Sourcing Strategy, ensuring local sourcing achieves or exceeds 25–30% of total incoming food.
- Act as the first point of contact for local and regional suppliers, maintaining strong, long-term, trust-based relationships.
- Promote FSSW’s surplus food redistribution capabilities through events, presentations, online presence and food sector networks.
- Grow and manage a sustainable pipeline of local surplus and donated food, complementing national supply.
- Work collaboratively with other FareShare Network Partners to share local food opportunities.
- Maintain accurate and accessible sourcing records and outcomes.
- Support food safety and compliance, including product recalls, legislative changes and liaison with national partners and the H&S Consultant (via the Head of Membership & Food Partnerships).
- Ensure all incoming food is compliant, within operational capacity and aligned with local logistics.
4) Food Development & Innovation
- Lead expansion of the Gleaning Programme across the region, working with Operations, Volunteering and Fundraising teams.
- Support development of new food innovations including:
- Frozen food expansion
- Breaking down ambient bulk
- Re-labelling and product preparation
- Manage key food projects, including reporting to relevant funders, ensuring accurate procurement and financial data in partnership with the Finance Manager.
- Represent FSSW in local collaborations/partnerships addressing local food waste or surplus food
5) Health, Safety & Compliance
- Champion a positive safety culture, modelling safe working practices and encouraging team members to work safely and report hazards or incidents promptly.
- Ensure the incoming food supply complies with FareShare HACCP Food Safety Manual and all relevant legislation and audit standards.
- Provide support for product recalls, safety notices and compliance-related communication.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Experience in a food, logistics, FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods), warehousing or similar operational environment, with an understanding of supply, stock flow and operational constraints.
- Proven ability to build and manage supplier or partner relationships, ideally involving food or operational partnerships.
- Experience supervising or managing staff, with the ability to motivate, support and develop team members.
- Confidence using data and reporting, with strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on approach.
Desirable
- Knowledge of food safety, health & safety and compliance requirements, including HACCP or similar frameworks.
