Are you an experienced Public Affairs professional with a passion for dogs?
We’re looking for a Public Affairs Officer to support the important work we do to ensure policy makers consider dog welfare in their decision making.
What does this role do?
As Public Affairs Officer, you’ll:
- contribute to the delivery of our ambitious public affairs programme across Westminster and Whitehall, the devolved administrations and in the EU,
- support and occasionally lead on the organisation and coordination of political events, meetings, and project visits, as part of our programme of engagement with policy makers,
- support the management of the Pet Advertising Advisory Group (PAAG) and the EU Dog & Cat Alliance,
- establish and maintain positive relationships with key external stakeholders, including parliamentarians and civil servants.
Please note, this role is available as a fixed term contract until January 2027. Interviews for this role are provisionally scheduled for week commencing 9th February 2026, and will take place on Teams.
Could this be you?
To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience in parliamentary or public affairs, with a good understanding of the political landscape in the UK. You’ll also need excellent communication skills, with the ability to listen actively, negotiate and influence decision makers and strong written English, to draft clear and concise professional correspondence and communications. Above all, an interest in the aims and values of Dogs Trust is essential.

Centre Manager
An exciting and rare opportunity has become available for an experienced people Manager to work at a Bedfordshire Centre, based in Aspley Guise near Milton Keynes. We are looking for a new leader to help guide the future growth and potential development of the site, as the charity strives to give every animal the best chance of finding a new home.
Position: Centre Manager
Location: Bedfordshire, Glebe Farm, Salford Rd, MK17 8HZ
Salary: From £33,000 per annum depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week, including alternate weekends, Permanent
Benefits: 33 days annual leave (inclusive of the eight bank holidays), Contributory pension scheme, Group Life Assurance, Employee Assistance Programme and access to Wellbeing Resources.

About the role:
As Centre Manager you will be responsible for all operational activities related to the running of the site, ensuring the ongoing welfare and safe rehoming journey for the animals in your care. You will also be expected to provide effective leadership to the Centres’ employees and volunteers, ensuring high levels of performance and a culture of excellent customer service at all times.
About you:
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of achievement in managing people. You will be able to demonstrate your passion for developing people and will bring with you the following essential skills and experience:
- Proven examples of successfully managing and developing large teams
- Excellent communication skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
- A full UK driving License
- An understanding of the animal welfare sector is desirable.

The Fundraising and Partnerships Assistant will support the Corporate Partnerships Manager and the wider Fundraising Team to deliver and develop our engaging programme of events, and exceptional supporter care and stewardship.

Key responsibilities
• Provide excellent customer care to supporters, community groups, team, and volunteers.
• Plan logistics, and delivery of events like the Bath Half Marathon.
• Build strong relationships across the charity to deliver events and respond to queries.
• Deliver engaging communications to enhance supporter experience.
• Co-ordinate and deliver tours of the BCDH, including animal care demonstrations.
• Support our incredible Volunteer Community Fundraising groups to meet income targets.
• Manage income processing, coding and reconciliation of donations.
• Ensure supporter data is securely managed in line with GDPR.
