We are a not-for-profit animal welfare organisation which campaigns for the humane treatment of decapod crustaceans such as lobsters, crabs, prawns, and langoustines, based on the scientific evidence of their sentience. Our campaign work was responsible for the ground-breaking inclusion of decapod crustaceans in the recent Animal Sentience Act of 2022, a move which has opened more opportunities to influence change.

Purpose
Reporting to the CEO, the Fundraising Support Manager will support the Fundraising Manager in the fundraising efforts of Crustacean Compassion. This will be role building on two specific areas of work already undertaken, specifically reviewing, and supporting major donors’ proposals, and developing the supporter journey and engagement process.
The applicant will need to have an active knowledge and warm contacts with potential funders, be able to prepare and create proposals immediately as well as use CRM or external screening sources to identify and communicate with potential major donors. They will have expertise across a variety of revenue streams and will have the support of our Campaigns team to develop engaging funding bids designed to create a supporter journey and long-term engagement.
This role will require a substantial amount of proactive independent working, along with close teamwork.
Responsibilities

General Duties
- Implement the execution of the fundraising strategy to lead income streams, delivering growth in restricted and unrestricted income whilst engaging supporter journeys to active givers.

Essential
- At least five years of experience working in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing five to six figure gifts ideally in the Animal Welfare field.

About the team
Kinship is in the third year of delivering the first national peer support service for kinship carers in England. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.
With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:
- creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
- sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups; and
- providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England.
This role will mobilise, develop and innovate our existing offer into a new Peer Support Hub with the focus on supporting sustainability and building resilience of peer support groups and their leaders. You will support and build our Kinship peer support community.

- Undertake all admin duties as defined by the Trustees.
- Responsible for the recruitment of animal fosterers and volunteers, alongside the Animal Care Coordinator.
- Create and implement an animal welfare awareness programme for children under 10.
- Attend Branch Trustee meetings and present relevant information (1 evening a month).
- Maintain all electronic platforms and social media.
- Ensure staff and volunteers are aware of and adhere to the Branch and National Society policies, procedures and rules.
- To facilitate the employment, deployment, appraisal, training and discipline of staff.
- Ensure that training needs are identified and brought to the Branch Trustees’ attention.
- Ensure that Branch staff have current job descriptions and are aware of their responsibilities.
- To establish local volunteer groups to support with their own fundraising and events, offering them advice and support.
- To have overall responsibility of the Branch charity shop.
- As required, organise and run key fundraising and/or Public Relations events in the Branch Calendar.
- Attend key sub-committee meetings as appropriate or nominate a representative.
- Discover and maintain various grants and responsible for creating and running fundraising events.
Communication
- Responsible for effective and appropriate communication with all Branch employees and volunteers on matters concerning the Branch and Society.
- To ensure effective and appropriate communication between Branch, the Region and National Headquarters.
- Responsible for ‘Public Relations’ of the Branch, using a range of media to promote a positive image of the Branch.
- Responsible for the coordination of guest speakers and visits to schools and local community groups on behalf of the Branch Trustees.
- Responsible for coordinating visits to the Branch and Animal Centre.
Health and Safety
- Responsible for all safety-related issues, including the ‘Health and Safety at Work’ Act, COSHH regulations, fire prevention, first aid at work and Trading Standards legislation and that the Branch is fully compliant.
- Ensure that all staff are aware of and comply with Health and Safety requirements.

ROLE SPECIFICS
Location: Home working or office-based in London, Edinburgh, or Cardiff
Working patterns: Full time / 35 hours, 1.00FTW, with typical working hours between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. The role includes weekly travel with early starts and late returns, including possible international travel, and approx. 10 overnight stays a year. Flexible work patterns, condensed hours, and job share opportunities open to negotiation, however it is expected that the majority of working hours are carried out during core office hours of 9am – 5pm.

ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in delivering our Inclusion and Climate Justice (I&CJ) initiatives. You will work closely with the Director(s) of Inclusion and Climate Justice to manage key projects and campaigns, develop consultancy work, and support the successful delivery of our EDI strategy. This role is an exciting opportunity to drive inclusive and equitable change in the sustainability and education sectors. You will be part of the team behind the unique RACE Report in the UK and its upcoming Europe-wide version. As a Senior Project Manager you will be organised, self-starting and have experience of managing a small team. Above all, you will be passionate about causing real change in society and environment for the benefit of all.
Inclusion and Climate Justice Responsibilities
- Ensure the availability of relevant resources and guidance for the I&CJ team.
- Work with the finance team to manage budgets and expenses.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on programme impacts.
- Develop strategic and operational direction with the Director(s) of Inclusion and Climate Justice.
- Provide training and development opportunities related to I&CJ programme delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Programme Management and Delivery: Lead and manage core I&CJ programmes, including The RACE Report, consultancy, training, and the mentoring scheme. Ensure high-quality data collection, analysis, and reporting for these programmes.
- Team Leadership and Development: Line manage Project Managers/Coordinators, providing support, performance assurance, and facilitating their development. Work closely with the Research and Impact team. Ensure consistency and quality of programme delivery across the team.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Representation: Act as an ambassador for SOS-UK at sector events, conferences, and meetings. Develop and maintain positive relationships with key individuals, stakeholders, and partners.
- Consultancy and Funding: Develop and provide consultancy and training to enhance inclusivity in sustainability departments. Secure grant funding and oversee the successful delivery of funded projects.
- Cross-Directorate Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with colleagues across SOS-UK to deliver on cross-cutting priorities. Develop promotional materials, digital content, and contribute to press releases and media responses.
