This vacancy has arisen as the result of the retirement of our current Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in Autumn 2024. About You
To fulfil this role, we are looking for an exceptional leader with a CIH Level 5 Diploma in Housing / an appropriate professional qualification.
You will have a diligent, proactive approach, forward-thinking and keen to develop opportunities for our services to make a positive impact to the communities we serve. You’ll demonstrate commercial acumen and business planning skills with the ability to think strategically and make critical decisions.
With a desire for building and maintaining strong relationships, you’ll naturally have a growth mindset and resilience, with a pragmatic and collaborative approach to challenges. You’ll achieve best practice with an informed commitment to equal opportunities and encouraging diversity. This includes a proven track record of managing and developing a cohesive staff team and the provision of high quality customer focused services. What We Offer
Actual salary is £38,400 – 44,800 p.a. (pro rata) based on a 4-day week (28 hrs p.w.)

This role is based at our head office in Solihull, plus Agile / Homeworking. The role requires operational travel within the Solihull borough; therefore, the successful candidate will need a full driving licence.

Context
Through our flagship report and Gender and Health Index, GH5050 provides the only birds-eye view of gender, inclusion and equality in the global health system today. The report assesses 200 organisations annually across a core set of variables on policies and practices to tackle power and privilege imbalances within the workplace, the gender and geography of organisational leadership, and whether gender is considered in any organisations' external-facing programmatic or policy work.
In addition to the annual report, GH5050 also produces a range of other evidence-informed outputs, including thematic reports relating to equality and diversity in the workplace (e.g. on gender pay gap), and policy briefs about strategies for organisational change.
GH5050 is expanding into new sectors beyond health and will increasingly support analysis at the country level. The successful candidate for this post is expected to play an integral role in contributing to the growth of GH5050, as well as taking a leading role in developing these new areas of work and leading and managing research staff across three sectoral workstreams.
Role Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to play a leadership role in a world-leading gender accountability and advocacy initiative. You will join a small and growing team of staff working at GH5050, taking responsibility for a large body of research and its associated impact. This role will be instrumental in exercising leadership for research and impact as GH5050 expands into two new sectors and more work at the country level.
We are looking for a motivated, dynamic, proactive, organised and experienced team player to assume this key leadership role. Role Responsibilities
Ensure delivery of rigorous and impactful research outputs across several thematic sectors at global and country levels: Overall responsibility for production (research design, coordination, time management, analysis, writing, production) and dissemination of rigorous research outputs including reports, indices and data visualisations. This will include identifying, liaising with and guiding external writers that may be required to support the delivery of outputs.
Manage, develop and motivate a diverse team of dispersed multisectoral and multidisciplinary researchers: Responsible for line management of sector specialists (health, law/justice and economics/finance) and their teams which include consultant researchers dispersed across the globe. This will entail recruitment, performance management, talent development and team building of GH5050 researchers as well as capacity building of researchers in partner organisations.
Manage a range of partnerships: Responsible for developing, maintaining and growing research and advocacy partnerships with external teams across the globe, through the application of principles and practice of equitable research partnerships.
Report to external stakeholders: Ensuring timely and accurate reporting of activities and impact to GH5050 donors using specified templates for reporting.
Ensure internal communications: Provision of regular updates on research progress, including identifying and flagging risks to achieving research objectives. Identification of risk mitigation or management strategies as appropriate.
Ensure external communications-including stakeholder engagement: In collaboration with GH5050 communications and engagement specialists, ensuring that research outputs are disseminated for maximum impact. Developing and maintaining regular engagement and communications with organisations included in the sectoral reports (at global and national levels). Willingness to travel to present at external conferences, stakeholder meetings, and other events as appropriate.
Track impact: Develop and maintain a rigorous system to track the impact of GH5050 research and engagement. Work with communications and advocacy staff to capture and communicate impact and stories of change.
Ensure sound financial management: Budget responsibility for research projects and activities. Regular liaison with head of operations and head of budget in GH5050 to ensure that spend and projections are on track to be balanced. Ensure that research teams report expenditures according to agreed budget parameters and regulations (set by UK Charity Commission, donors, auditors).
Support resource mobilisation: In collaboration with the rest of the senior team, cultivate relationships with existing and potential supporters of the work of GH5050 and identify opportunities for new research work and collaborations. Take ownership of grant and to a limited degree peer-review academic grant proposal development.
While peer-reviewed publications are not a primary aim of GH5050, we encourage our researchers to publish in the academic literature and when they do so to practice equitable partnership practices in relation to authorship.

Person specification
· PhD level qualification preferred. If Masters level qualification then equivalent and demonstrable relevant professional level experience
· Recognised thought leader in research, preferable in relation to gender equality
· Experience conducting mixed methods research, including innovative methods of data collection, indicator development, database management, and qualitative and quantitative analysis and interpretation
· Experience in research project management, ideally within an academic and/or policy environment
· Experience in policy analysis and developing recommendations based on this analysis
· Knowledge of gender and its relationship to: (i) research/evidence methods (e.g. policy analysis); iii) opportunities/discrimination in the workplace; (iii) and/or approaches to organisational change, would be an advantage
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and experience producing clear, concise, engaging and evidence-led written outputs such as reports, policy briefs, academic papers and op-eds
· Experience of effectively managing a team, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative professional relationships with a wide range of partners across diverse contexts, including whilst working remotely
· Experience working independently and effective decision making to manage competing priorities and ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard
· High level of proficiency in MS Excel and experience in using a wide range of software, including data visualisation packages

Scope of role
The Head of Programme & Organisational Development is also one of two Co-Leads of On Purpose London. As such, they are jointly responsible for the London Associate Programme in partnership with the Co-Lead of On Purpose London who focuses on Business Development & Community. We find this co-leadership model offers a useful balance of mutual support and challenge, role-modelling how we believe leadership should operate.
You would be part of our cross-organisational leadership team of six city leads and the CEO. Since its inception, the National Saturday Club has evolved into a nationwide movement offering free extracurricular education. Our programme places young people at the heart of a vibrant network of world-class professionals from education, the cultural sector and industry, all of whom are dedicated to helping young people achieve their full potential. In recent years we have expanded our network from 74 Saturday Clubs in 2021 to over 100 in 2024, with a target of 140 by 2025-26 and an ambition to reach 180 clubs by 2026-27. The Head of Counselling has overall responsibility for the smooth running of the clinical services, the recruitment of suitable counsellors, supervisors, and Strides HCC team to ensure the maintenance of high standards of service delivery.
The role is an integral part of Strides, working with the CEO and other Heads of services to support the continuous development and delivery of services in line with Strides’ strategy.
The main purpose of the role is to provide effective management and leadership of Strides HCC. The role focuses on the strategic development of the project, the financial management and financial sustainability of its operations, and the overseeing of all aspects of the clinical service delivery and clinical governance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• To be accountable for all aspects of clinical governance in the service, reporting back to the CEO as required.
• Organise and chair the steering group meetings, review minutes and report back on actions and progress.
• Responsible for ensuring service(s) meet contractual, funding and legal obligations as applicable.
• Conduct regular management / quality audits and provide management reports on performance.
• Contribute to organisational policy and procedure development.
• Produce and revise service-specific policies, and oversee their implementation across the HCC service.
• Accountable for ensuring robust information management is in place; supporting the continuous Strides' information management systems and utilising management information reporting to assist management oversight of performance and to inform service developments.
• Alongside facilities management and service manager to proactively ensure that all key elements of effective health
STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT
• Develop and embed deliverable annual plans for each service. Work with and support the other Heads of services and safety management are in place for all services, including delegating specific duties as appropriate in each service and the SLT in promoting the work of Strides.
• To sustain existing and develop new business for HCC by raising the profile of HCC and by identifying, engaging, and building relationships with new clients and other mental health services.
• Develop professional networks and partnerships with a range of key stakeholders to aid service development.
• Anticipate and develop strategies to resolve service challenges or risks involving appropriate colleagues.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
• To set an annual operational budget for each service in conjunction with service managers, finance team and senior management.
• Act as budget holder for designated area, responsible for monitoring and controlling assigned budget, taking corrective action where appropriate, and reporting as required.
• Work with service managers to ensure all financial and administrative processes are delivered to a high standard within policies and procedures.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
As a key member of the leadership team, the Head of Operations (HOO) plays a vital role in the development and delivery of Cockpit’s strategic plan, working closely with the Chief Executive. The HOO will ensure operational excellence, site optimisation in Bloomsbury and Deptford and lead on property strategy. The role encompasses oversight of the maker community, management of IT systems, leading on HR and responsibility for health and safety compliance.
This role would suit an entrepreneurial self-starter with demonstrable experience in property and building management, project management, budget and fiscal control, HR and team management. Knowledge of planning, business and charity financing, leasehold and landlord-tenant legislation is desirable. The role requires strong negotiation skills and the ability to exert influence and maintain critical relationships. It requires a keen focus on delivery and detail as well as the ability to retain big picture perspectives. Exemplary communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.
MAIN DUTIES:
1 PROPERTY AND BUILDING MANAGEMENT
Cockpit has two sites in Deptford and Bloomsbury. At each site, a Studio Manager has responsibility for the day-to-day running of the sites and liaison with makers. The Studio Managers will report to the HOO who will coordinate, plan and/or oversee all the practical management of the buildings including repairs and maintenance; alterations and refurbishments; space allocations and use of space; health and safety; tenant/maker welfare/support etc.
The HOO will manage the Studio complexes to ensure they meet the requirements of the charity and resident makers while ensuring commercial optimisation.
The HOO will ensure efficient use of space and consider charitable and commercial objectives when setting prices and rates to ensure a balanced outcome. The HOO is responsible for ensuring compliance on all aspects of Health and Safety, insurance and risk assessment.
The HOO is responsible for project managing all future real estate projects from inception to completion. They will ensure that sufficient resources, budgets and expertise are in place for such projects. The HOO will sit on Cockpit’s Property Committee.
2 LEASES, INSURANCE, LEGAL, RATES AND LA
With oversight from the CEO and Board, and relevant legal advice, the HOO will manage leasehold negotiations with Cockpit’s landlord, Camden Council. The HOO will report on such matters to the Property committee of the Board.
Working with the CEO, the HOO will manage licences issued to studio holders developing pricing structures and documentation that reflect Cockpits charitable aims and commercial objectives.
Working with the CEO, the HOO will set hire rates, rentals and other pricing related to Cockpits spaces and services in line with Cockpit’s charitable aims and commercial objectives. They will be responsible for issuing associated contracts and licences.
The HOO will oversee all insurance requirements and ensure that terms required are met. The HOO will oversee legal compliance issues in collaboration with the CEO and as directed.
The HOO will maintain good relationships with Local Authorities and be responsible for monitoring and overseeing all rates or other levies in relation to the buildings or the charity itself.
3 COMMERCIAL EVOLUTION AND PROJECTS
The HOO will take an active leadership role in developing and delivering commercial opportunities for the charity in line with its charitable objectives and the strategic plan. The HOO will lead on the strategy for development of space and venue hire, tours, better utilisation of space, and AV studio hire. The HOO will evaluate commercial opportunities/risks and will manage the delivery and ultimate running of such spaces.
The HOO will also oversee the successful delivery and oversight of the cafe operator in Deptford.
4 LIVE EVENTS
The HOO will actively contribute to the creative development of Cockpit events, including but not limited to Open Studios. They will be responsible for the operational planning and timely delivery of the events including budget management. The Event Manager and Events Coordinator will report into the HOO on all relevant events.
The HOO will be responsible for ensuring there is clear post event reporting from all departments, and that this is tracked year on year to ensure it informs future strategy, budgets and investment.
5 YOUTH AND COMMUNITY
Working with the CEO, HOO is responsible for overseeing Cockpit’s Youth and Community activities. They will be responsible for the recruitment and management of the producer, as well as overseeing budgets. The HOO will oversee the programming of any Youth & Community activities across the year and ensure these are aligned to the charities objectives and are properly funded. They will work closely with the Head of Development and Youth and Community Producer to ensure Cockpit targets the correct funding bids and works with the correct partners to deliver impactful programmes in a cost-effective manner.
6 IT and DATA MANAGEMENT
The HOO is responsible for managing Cockpit’s external IT consultant to ensure that all hardware and software bought and used by the charity is up-to-date, efficient, cost effective, secure and suitable for the charity’s activities.
The HOO is responsible for overseeing all software and digital upgrades including but not limited to the charity’s CRM, cloud-based services and future automation.
7 DATA AND GDPR
The HOO will play a central role in the planning and correct implementation of any data programme for Cockpit. This will be in close collaboration with the Head of Marketing and Digital and the CEO.
The HOO is responsible for GDPR for Cockpit and will take on responsibility for compliance and other copyright or legal practices in relation to safe data management, firewall implementation, working closely with the Head of Marketing and Digital on these matters.
8 COMPLIANCE, RISK REGISTER, HANDBOOKS, HR
The HOO has line management responsibility for the Deptford and Bloomsbury Studio Managers, Events and Venue Coordinator, Event Manager, Youth and Community Producer and overall responsibility for Cockpit’s HR function.
The HOO will take responsibility for ensuring compliant staff practices in relation to up-to-date staff contracts, health and safety, maternity and all other relevant HR matters. In association with the CEO and Financial Controller, the HOO will manage and record annual leave.
The HOO will work with the Studio Managers to ensure good Maker welfare and be responsible for policies that result in positive outcomes in relation to the Cockpit community.
The HOO will liaise with the CEO and advise on risks in the HR area and will sit on the People Committee of Cockpit.
The HOO will evaluate when HR risk requires external advice and will agree any necessary actions with CEO.
The HOO will be responsible for the Staff Handbook, The Trustee Handbook, Maker Welcome Pack/Handbooks and all relevant compliance materials for updating and circulation, including all company policies.
Working with the CEO, the HOO will manage the Risk Register and update the Board in a timely manner on any pertinent and impending changes to that with the potential to impact the charity. The HOO will be a member of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee (FARCo) of Cockpit.
The HOO will take on responsibility for recruitment practices and onboarding activities for new employees, contractors and trustees.
The HOO will oversee the performance review process, coordinate staff training and be responsible for the training budget.

You will also work alongside others to oversee the management of the programme of improvement works to DBF property and land holdings, in relation to the Diocese’s Net Zero Carbon Action Plan, including engagement with national and regional bodies.
Managing the Property Services Team, which oversees the management of all clergy and other housing within the Diocese, you will ensure maintenance and improvements are performed within agreed timeframes and budgets and provide an excellent and friendly service to clergy and their household. In addition, you will ensure maximised rental income from vacant housing and glebe land which is a key income stream for the Diocese.
As Head of Property, you will offer support to parishes and protect their interests by advising on decision making regarding their buildings, with a particular focus on enhancing utilisation and value, especially for church halls. You will also represent, protect and advance the interests of PCCs, Incumbents and Churchwardens, by partnering with them to provide high-level advice to parishes on the effective management of property matters, particularly in cases where the Diocese acts as custodian trustee on their behalf.
As a key member of the Diocesan Office and Senior Management Team (SMT), Diocesan Finance & Assets Committee, and Property Advisory Group, you will manage the property budget, taking part in budget reviews and budget setting in partnership with the Director of Finance and Finance & Assets Committee.
MRICS qualified and with experience of working in the property sector, ideally as a surveyor or with experience in asset management, residential property management and landlord and tenant relations, you should have demonstrable experience of procuring and supervising contractors in the delivery of property related projects and services.
With proven leadership experience, including strategic property development and resource planning, you should have a knowledge of driving maximum return from property and/or land assets, including experience of property disposals and purchases.
An understanding of Property Law is essential, and you should also be experienced in planning, managing and reviewing substantial budgets and exercising strict financial controls in a property environment.
Sympathetic to the overall Christian mission of the Church of England, including the Diocese’s schools, church communities and buildings, you should be prepared and able to travel regularly throughout the Diocese.
Previous experience within Charities or Not-for-Profit organisations is desirable but not essential.
The Housing and Land assets of the Diocese of Canterbury comprises operational and investment properties, almost all of which consist of ministry housing stock and a small amount of Glebe Land. Assets include circa 170 parsonage houses, the majority of which are occupied by clergy, establishing a unique relationship between the Diocese and church leaders. A minority of the stock (around 50 properties) which are intended for ministry but not currently used, generate substantial rental income. Notably, recent years have seen the move to ensure that we have the right properties in the right places for ministry as well as exploring development opportunities on existing properties that are due to be reviewed, sold or replaced.

With over £30 million in grants awarded to date, JABBS is well-funded and supported by a dedicated administration team. Their key focus is on supporting women involved with or at risk of contact with the criminal justice system, addressing their multiple and complex unmet needs. They passionately believe in evidence-based grant-making and are committed to driving positive change.
Salary: £90,000 per annum
Location: Hybrid, ideally 3 days per week at JABBS HQ in Birmingham
Contract: Permanent, full time or reduced hours contract considered

Your talent for building strong relationships and partnerships, along with your ability to nurture and empower senior talent, will be invaluable assets.
Additionally, you'll bring a high level of emotional intelligence, backed by a thorough and nuanced understanding of the complexities of women's justice rights within the criminal justice system.
