For over 40 years, Being There, a medium sized charity, has provided practical, emotional and social support to those affected by life limiting illnesses across much of Greater Manchester. Our national work: Through an ‘open source’ online community platform, we provide all the resources necessary to set up a perinatal peer support initiative. Freely sharing all the tools that our local programme (Parents 1st Essex) uses in daily practice, from budget setting to volunteer training guides and impact tracking. Working with commissioners and providers, Parents 1st UK also provides consultancy and workshops to help build new perinatal peer support initiatives in communities.
Our local work: Parents 1st Essex currently operates in South and North Essex, delivering perinatal peer support to parents, through 1-1 or group support. Peer supporters engage and develop trusting relationships with parents during pregnancy, continue support through birth and the first few months afterwards.
Alongside this, Parents 1st UK also leads the Essex Peer to Parent Network, a peer support collaborative that aims to develop a hub of good practice across Essex. The Peer to Parent Network employs 4 Peer Support Link Workers who work alongside the local maternity units in Essex, helping parents to access peer support during pregnancy or anytime during the first year after birth.

We are a Charity based in Gloucester with around 170 member settings and manage five of our own Early Years settings (PATA Managed Groups (PMGs)). Our mission is to support the development of high quality and accessible early education, play and provision for children, young people and their families.
At its heart, PATA is a people-based organisation and you will be joining a strong and committed team, both in the Head Office and the PMGs. You will lead the organisation, working with the Board of Trustees in setting the strategic vision, mission and priorities. They will have a broad understanding of the food (or associated) sector (and preferably experience working in the sector). Ideally, the individual will already have experience managing or running a charity, and so will have a practical understanding of charity governance best practice.
With multiple activities from publishing through to professional recognition and from scientific and technical events and communication through to supporting the next generation of talent, the Institute is looking for a leader who can work creatively and yet in a focussed way to ensure all these activities are progressed.
Ideally, they will have previously worked for a professional membership body and are likely to have experience in the food sector.

Main Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership and Development:
- Providing strong and visible strategic leadership for the Trust as a whole, both internally and externally
- Directing, inspiring and motivating staff and volunteers
- Supporting and working with the Senior Management Team on the development and implementation of the Trust’s long-term strategy, through development and delivery of annual business plans and associated budgets and KPIs
- Providing strong financial and budgetary management oversight and focus the development of diverse and sustainable income sources

External Relations and People Contacts:

- Develop and enhance relationships with key stakeholders and strategic partners
- Support the Senior Management Team to develop contacts with key stakeholders and develop strategic partnerships

Organisational and Operational Management to include:
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with the Chairman, Honorary Officers and Trustees to ensure lawful and effective governance
- Lead the Trust’s Senior Management Team including holding monthly one to one meeting and annual appraisals
- Oversee financial management systems, ensuring the timely preparation and effective achievement of annual budgets
- Co-develop and deliver an annual Business Plan which aligns with the 2030 Strategy
- Oversee compliance with all statutory requirements (including Health & Safety, Equal Opportunities, Employment Law, GDPR, etc.)
- Ensure effective communication with staff, trustees and volunteers
