Charity People are delighted to be working with RSPCA Northamptonshire, and small and independent branch of the RSPCA, to recruit a Community Welfare Hub Coordinator.

RSPCA Northamptonshire carries out vital work to save animals that have been neglected, mistreated, or subjected to cruelty, working with local vets to ensure that each animal receives the treatment they need for injuries or health problems, and educating about responsible pet ownership. The charity also ensures all animals are vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, flea and worm treated before being rehomed. All funds are raised through charity shops, fundraising events, grants, and public donations.

The Community Welfare Hub Coordinator will be responsible for the daily management of the RSPCA Community Hub in Rushden, support the welfare outreach work in the local community, and care for animals before they move int foster care. Full training will be provided.

Key responsibilities

* You will lead community engagement efforts, educating and supporting the public on welfare advice and services.
* You will oversee the care of animals temporarily housed at the Hub before they go into foster care, ensuring National RSPCA Standards are met.
* You will assist with the daily management and operation of the Community Hub, working closely with Hub team members and volunteers, including recruiting, training, and supervising Hub volunteers, ensuring a well-coordinated and effective team.
* You will manage the welfare clinic diary, maintain the clinic room, and ensure it is well-stocked, as well as ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
* You will assist with operations, such as welfare events, manage the availability of fundraising materials and event equipment, and handle branch donations.

The Community Welfare Hub Coordinator will have a passion for animals and knowledge of the RSPCA's mission and values. The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage workload independently and a dedicated work ethic. You will have a sense of humour and will be a strong team player. Knowledge of the branch and its welfare work would be advantageous, but full training would be provided.

You would be joining a supportive and professional working environment. The role is based at the Community Hub in Rushden with travel to other sites in Daventry and Brixworth in Northamptonshire. Transport for work is reimbursed in line with the staff expenses policy. There will be some weekend work and you will be part of a rota which will be around 1 day a weekend per month. The role is full time, 35 hours per week, or could be split between two colleagues, each working part time, with one responsible for the animal welfare side of the role and the other the management of the community hub. This would be 15-20 per week per role and the salary would be pro rata.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for a Head of Safeguarding & Professional Standards with a background in social work to join Young Lives vs Cancer.

The Head of Safeguarding & Professional Standards works to create a positive organisational safeguarding culture where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, through shaping, implementing and monitoring safeguarding activity, policy, training and governance across the whole organisation. The role also sets professional standards for our Services Directorate, and highlights areas for continuous improvement, and by directly delivering or designing and commissioning training, they enable Young Lives vs Cancer to respond to changes in policy, legislation and best practice in social care and safeguarding.

You would be joining us at a really exciting time in our journey. Following two innovative peer reviews with partner charities, we are confident in our approach to safeguarding. But like many organisations, we need to prepare for the future. With the launch of a new strategy later this year, we are looking outward to understand how we can create a better future for young cancer patients, one in which the whole system of support around them works together, face to face and digitally, and no-one is left behind. We constantly challenge how we do things, and are experimenting with new ways to create impact, influence the whole system, and importantly – fund this vital work.

You’ll be vital to this journey, leading our approach to safeguarding and professional standards and giving us a high level of confidence as we move forward. You will work closely with a passionate and dedicated group of trustees, directors and management teams who lead activities from frontline social care services through to fundraising and support services.

WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.

The Head of Safeguarding & Professional Standards:

• Shapes, implements and monitors and reports performance against the safeguarding policy, training and governance across the whole organisation including with the trustees
• Reports to and supports the trustee Safeguarding Committee
• Oversees the governance of safeguarding referrals and activity in local social care teams
• Advises on safeguarding matters anywhere else across the organisational structure (including in income generation, for example)
• Works closely with the Services Senior Management team to set professional standards for our services and highlight areas for continuous improvement
• Planning and directly delivering, or designing and commissioning training, to enable Young Lives vs Cancer to respond to changes in policy, legislation and best practice in social care and safeguarding

WHAT DO I NEED? 

The person we are looking for will have:

• The right experience: you must be a registered social worker and have worked as a as a social worker and in a strategic role in children or young people's social care services, delivering safe services with particular reference to safeguarding and assurance, and have significant experience of developing social work practice at a strategic or system level
• The right leadership expertise: with strong leadership and collaborative planning skills you will have ability to work collaboratively to oversee how things work, and influence stakeholders across the charity
• The right people skills: Confidence to challenge ways of thinking and the communication skills to coach and empower people to build a culture of safeguarding.

This complex and debilitating neurological disorder can significantly affect many aspects of life including work, school, personal relationships, and feelings of isolation.

Every year over two million people visit The Migraine Trust website for the most up to date information, and thousands contact the helplines for information and support on all aspects of migraine. The Information Manager will coordinate and develop a range of health information needed by the migraine community and people living with migraine to raise awareness to both members of the public and health care professionals. The role is also responsible for ensuring the information on the website is up to date and coordinating and managing Patient Information Forum renewals.

Key responsibilities

* Produce and maintain quality health information: You will manage and update health information, scope, plan, and create new content in consultation with stakeholders, and identify target groups to produce materials to meet their needs. You will work within the Information and Support team constantly communicating with colleagues working on front line services to ensure the information being produced is in line with service users needs. You will also be responsible for managing the organisations PIF processes and assessments.
* Engage with the migraine community: You will hold focus groups to understand information needs, build strategic partnerships to disseminate information effectively, and support staff learning and knowledge-building about migraine.
* Support communication and dissemination: You will work with the Communications team to create accessible information formats, provide content for videos, blogs, and other communication channels and regularly monitor and report on the impact of information provision.
* Research: You will act as the key point of communication for the research committee, manage administrative duties for research funding applications and grants, and coordinate research meetings and liaise with funded researchers for project updates.
* Represent and support the charity: You will represent The Migraine Trust at external events and build relationships with healthcare professionals and stakeholders.

The Information Manager will have solid experience of communicating complex health information to audiences in written and online formats, as well as proven experience of producing information from the research stage through to writing, external review and liaising with designers. The successful candidate will have the ability to gain an in-depth understanding of medical and health related information, including research and critical analysis skills to develop an evidence base. You will have experience working within a health communication environment, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and meticulous attention to detail with demonstrable editing and proofreading skills. You will have the ability to liaise with key stakeholders, be a self-starter with an ability to work independently and as part of a team and be able to work to tight deadlines. You will have knowledge and understanding of the benefits of patient engagement to produce health information.

The role is home-based with meetings in London once every 3 months which will include overnight stays and some ad hoc national travel. All travel/overnight expenses are covered.
