Job description

Support Officer

We take great pride in the personalised, tailored support we offer, no matter what difficulties someone is facing, and the feedback we get from the people we help, who consistently tell us we’ve made a life changing - even life-saving - difference.

Our support services team is at the very heart of that and we have an unusual opportunity for someone amazing to come and be part of it.

The Role

There’s no such thing as a typical day in the LionHeart support services team as the cases we support are as individual as everyone who calls us. We support people from the very beginning of their careers as graduate surveyors or apprentices, through to retirement and beyond. You could be supporting someone through illness or work-related stress, arranging legal support or counselling, or helping someone who’s been out of work become more confident in their interview skills.

You'll operate the helpline on a rotational basis, providing information, advice and support for the professionals who get in touch, no matter what challenge they are facing. You will manage your own caseload, providing a tailored package of support to meet need and encourage steps towards independence - ranging from people who need short-term help and advice or access to a single service, to more complex situations where you may work with someone over several months providing multiple services.

We’re looking for someone who is well-organised and can work independently, yet is a good team player who can work with colleagues and external partners to provide the best support possible for RICS professionals and their families.

We want someone who has at least three years’ experience of working/ volunteering in a supportive role with members of the public, with excellent communication skills and great attention to detail. Most important of all is the ability to deal compassionately with individuals, while maintaining confidentiality at all times especially when handling sensitive information.

As an employer, we pride ourselves on a real commitment to work-life balance and a fun, flexible and exciting working environment that is fully inclusive and welcoming.

We also offer training opportunities and staff development days.

We would like to encourage diverse applicants for this position as we are actively seeking to diversify the team throughout the organisation.

The shortlisting process will be anonymous in order to mitigate unconscious bias and ensure a level playing field for all applicants. This means that the shortlisting panel will not have your name, address or any other demographic or other characteristic information at the point of shortlisting.

We are proud to be a Disability Confident Committed Employer. If you have a disability and you meet all minimum requirements of the job as set out in the JD and Employee Specification you will be put forward for interview.
