About the role:

When a family member sustains a spinal cord injury it is a life changing experience for the whole family. They can feel very isolated and that no one understands what they’re going through.

Back Up’s Family Support Service is there to help. We enable a wide range of family members of all ages whose loved one is affected by spinal cord injury (SCI) to improve their wellbeing, build a support network and transform their lives through Back Up’s services. 

The Family Support Coordinator will assist in supporting family members on an individual basis as well as in group settings as appropriate, together with providing support in the process of identifying, recruiting and training new family support volunteers.

A Family Support Coordinator will be comfortable and efficient with data management and GDPR compliance.

Lived experience of having a relative with SCI is essential, together with sharing our commitment to transform the lives of everyone affected by spinal cord injury.

Westway Trust are seeking experienced and committed Adult Learning Tutors - Digital Skills to join their expanding tutor team. • Practical work experience as an ICT Tutor, demonstrating hands-on knowledge and skills applicable to real-world scenarios

• Experience of managing mixed groups of learners
• Knowledge and experience of working with a variety of exam boards

This role will oversee two of our flagship programmes: the WellChild Nurses and Better at Home programme.

Purpose of the role:

Working alongside the Director of Programmes and wider programmes team, the successful candidate will ensure that the collective knowledge and skills of both our national nurse network and our flagship Better at Home suites are embedded into the Charity’s strategy and activities. The post holder will also be instrumental in growing these networks as well as supporting the growth of the projects.

WellChild currently have over 50 nurse posts across the UK and 13 Better at Home training facilities. The successful delivery of these programmes is integral to the charity and ensures that children with complex health needs and their families can access specialist support in their area when they need it. This is a key role within the WellChild team which is responsible for the day-to-day delivery and management of agreed projects within WellChild’s charitable programmes. With the support of the team, you will be able to operate under a high level of autonomy to deliver on these organisational charitable objectives and be responsible for managing relationships with key stakeholders, including health professionals to maximise the outcomes for children with complex health needs and their families.

About us

Universal Credit (UC) is the fastest growing advice issue for the Citizens Advice service and improving the support available to people making a claim is vital. Our Help to Claim service guides people through the claims process - this will include identifying suitability, helping clients to start their claim and providing support to their first payment.

Citizens Advice Liverpool is looking to recruit Help to Claim advisers with knowledge and experience of welfare benefits to join their team.

The successful candidates will provide end to end telephone and web chat support for new Universal Credit claimants. Your understanding of legacy benefits will enable you to check whether a client would be better off on Universal Credit. You will also be able to identify clients who due to transition to Universal Credit via Managed Migration and support them through the process and application. Research and campaigns

• Support our research and campaigns work through various channels including case studies, data collection and client consent

Professional development

• Keep up to date with legislation, policies and procedures and undertake appropriate training
• Read relevant publications
• Attend relevant internal and external meetings as agreed with the line manager
• Prepare for and attend supervision sessions/team meetings/staff meetings as appropriate

Administration

• Use of telephony and IT equipment for multichannel delivery of advice services
• Use of IT software for statistical recording of information relating to research and campaigns and funding requirements, record keeping and document production. Ensure GDPR compliant training is completed on an annual basis
• Ensure that all work conforms to your organisation’s systems and procedures

Other duties and responsibilities

• Carry out any other tasks that may be within the scope of the post to ensure the effective delivery and development of the service
• Demonstrate commitment to the aims and policies of Citizens Advice
• Abide by health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for own safety and that of colleagues
• Work from a variety of Citizens Advice Liverpool outlets and outreach locations across the city as required over the course of the week between the hours of 8am-6pm.

Requirements

1. Recent knowledge and experience of the benefits systems, including experience of carrying out accurate benefit check calculations in a professional setting
2. Basic knowledge of multiple enquiry areas to aid with identifying emergencies and making referrals where appropriate
3. Experience of providing advice through telephone and web chat
4. Ability to use sensitive listening and questioning skills to get to the root of the issues and empower clients, whilst maintaining structure and control of meetings with them
5. Ability to interpret complex information and convey it in a way that is understandable to clients.
6. Good ICT knowledge with an ability to support clients with their online claim application
7. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a range of partnership organisations to reach Universal Credit claimants.
8. Assist with research and campaigns works by providing information about clients’ circumstances
9. Understanding of and commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice service and its equal opportunities policies.
10. Ability to meet targets and excel against objectives.
11. Ability and willingness to work both on own initiative and as part of a team.

Read for Good’s Grants and Trusts Manager leads on securing high-value income for the national charity from trusts and foundations, typically securing one-off and multi-year grants in the five- to six-figure range. You will research and cultivate prospective funders, produce compelling, tailored proposals, programme reports and manage a strong pipeline of funding opportunities. You will also develop and steward long-term funding relationships that align with our mission and strategy, building on our well established and robust pipeline. In addition to your own portfolio, you will support the wider grants and fundraising team, helping to deliver on team targets, strengthen internal processes, and ensure high-quality reporting and compliance.

This is a key role in the charity’s income generation strategy and will work closely with senior colleagues to shape fundable programmes and plan for long-term sustainability. 

Terms of Employment

Reporting to: Head of Fundraising

Location: Read for Good office based in Nailsworth (due to location, own transport is desirable); we take a flexible approach to working from home

Salary: Circa £35k to £41k (depending on experience)

Hours: 35 hours a week (part-time role will be considered for the right candidate)

Key responsibilities

Income Generation and Fundraising

• Research and develop a strong pipeline of new and existing high-value trusts and grant-making prospects (typically five- and six-figure applications).
• Write compelling, tailored funding proposals that align with funder interests and organisational priorities.
• Manage and track income performance, reporting on progress against individual and team targets.
• Build strong, long-term relationships with funders and secure repeat and multi-year funding in the region of £400K p.a.

Team Management and Development

• Provide support and guidance to the wider Grants team, including freelance support as well as support cross organisational cooperation and team work
• Help co-ordinate workloads and funding pipeline, and ensure high standards across all funding applications and reports.
• Help foster a collaborative team culture and support colleagues’ professional development

We are looking for someone to join our Mental Health Floating Support Team as a Floating Support Worker. Working across North and East Bristol you will be joining a team busy developing a ‘Help When You Need It’ approach, providing time limited key working support to clients from 3 months up to a year at a time.

In the role of Floating Support Worker, you will work 9-5 hours Monday Friday; working with clients in the community and in their own homes:

• Manage a case load of around 16 clients, ensuring that each client is provided with person centred support and is empowered to be active in their community, with strong support networks to support ongoing recovery.
• Working with clients to create person centred support plans.
• Providing advice and support to clients so ensure they can access health care to improve mental and physical health; manage their benefits, sustain housing, build a home; and have access work, training and other opportunities.
• Build effective relationships with a variety of internal and external people to ensure clients have access to the support they need.

• You will have good client engagement skills, and the ability to support  vulnerable people through a process of change.
• You will demonstrate a good understanding of the issues faced by people with mental ill health and the difficulties they experience in accessing services that fully meet their needs.
