About the role
This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work in one or two schools in London; exact school location(s) to be confirmed at interview. Our schools are shown on a mapThe Access Project schools on our website.
The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of the programme is optimised.
Role responsibilities
- Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme
- Match students with volunteer tutors
- Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance
- Assess student progress towards being able to make successful university applications
- Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided)
- Monitor the impact of tutorials, and intervene as appropriate
- Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme
- Manage tutor relationships and attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring of systems, emailing and making phone calls
- Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme
- Chair and present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.
- University Access Officers support the volunteering team by helping to deliver tutor training sessions, which take place on occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings (paid time off is provided).

About the role
This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work in London across up to 3 schools along with remote working. Our schools are shown on a map of The Access Project schools on our website.
The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteers tutors, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of the programme is optimised.
Role responsibilities
Our schools undertake either our Gateway model, which includes mentoring and tutoring or our Accelerate model, which includes mentoring and coaching. Some Accelerate schools also have tutoring included on our Accelerate Plus model.
Depending on the model in the schools you are based in, role responsibilities will include:
- Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme
- Assess student progress towards being able to make successful university applications
- Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided)
- Build and manage relationships with volunteers to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme
- Manage students’ relationships with volunteers through monitoring of systems, emailing and making phone calls.

The role will focus on the support care of questions that arise from their Facebook page, so the ideal candidate would have a supporter care/ fundraising assistant background.
Last year we saw a 133% growth in the numbers of young people facing homelessness coming through our doors. Now, nearly half of them are - or recently have been - sleeping rough and with the numbers of young rough sleepers in the capital growing at an alarming rate, New Horizon Youth Centre has had to take decisive action to unlock support and housing for this group. The Head of Services - Rough Sleeping is a brand-new role for the organisation and will lead on developing a new internal strategy for young people facing rough sleeping, as well as holding operational oversight of our established youth-specific street outreach function and emergency accommodation hub, both of which are unique in London. You will need to be strategic in approach and an excellent relationship builder. You will act as our lead colleague on relationships with the Greater London Authority and London Councils’ rough sleeping teams, working with them to ensure our learning and insights inform policy and ultimately open up access to emergency support for those under 25. Alongside this, you will need a keen eye for operational detail, have experience of delivering homelessness services, and be passionate about piloting new solutions to prevent homelessness among young people. More than anything you will need to champion what young people can achieve, be committed to collaborating with others and determined to find a way.

Aside from the 50+ young people we see every day at our day centre, New Horizon’s Outreach service also works with young people on the streets and in the community. The team works pan London to deliver a unique, youth-specific outreach service to young people currently or at risk of rough sleeping. We use our extensive housing expertise to place those young people into accommodation that is appropriate and safe whilst encouraging them to access the day centre to benefit from the wide range of services we offer. The Outreach Worker will work as part of Rough Sleeping Team to deliver at least two street outreach shifts per week and transitional casework to young people facing rough sleeping. You will need to be willing to work early mornings and late evenings, to travel across London to identify young people who need our support, and to work flexibly to respond to evolving needs. They are seeking an experienced, strategic accounting professional to work with the Treasurer, Chief Executive and Managing Director, to devise and implement the Trust’s finance strategy, to ensure they have the resources they need to deliver their charitable objectives. The Finance Director will be responsible for ensuring an effective finance function; leading on the financial management of the Trust; overseeing financial compliance and governance; and the development and oversight of our Financial Strategy.

The key duties of the Director of Finance are as follows:
- Support the CEO and Senior Leadership Team in developing HET's organisational strategy and plans, ensuring they are financially sustainable.
- Play a key role in the senior management team and attend and present at various Committee and Board meetings.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial data and supporting narrative including strategic plans, budgets, management accounts, and live forecasts, updated monthly or as required.
