The Role:

The Partner Engagement Lead is responsible for key account management, and specifically developing and supporting relationships with programme sponsors and partners within the WorldGBC network.

The Partner Engagement Lead will work closely alongside the programme/projects team subject leads, taking responsibility for day to day management of activities that relate to sponsors or stakeholders, including partner relationships, external collaborations and fundraising.

Working cross-functionally within a matrix-style organisation, the Lead will work collaboratively on the engagement pillar of WorldGBC's fundraising team alongside the Partnerships Manager and the Strategic Partnerships Lead. This team coordinates closely with all WorldGBC departments, in particular where sponsors are involved with initial focus on the programme/project partners.

Well-organised and a great communicator, this individual will ensure that key relationships are managed effectively across the organisation, and be detail oriented in their reporting and accounting of opportunities. The Lead should also be willing to represent the organisation in relevant external opportunities relating to the programmes as need arises - including fundraising meetings, external working groups, events or conferences.

The Partner Engagement Lead will report to the Director of Programmes Strategy.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Account Management: Be primary point of contact for new and existing programmatic sponsors and partners, overseeing engagement with the network and accounting with detailed reporting to ensure up-to-date partnership records. Work alongside the programmatic team leads to deliver all agreed benefits to partners, ensuring a uniform balance of benefits and opportunities across sponsors engaging in all areas of the organisation.

2. Fundraising and Budget Management: Work alongside the programme leads to secure funding and manage relevant programme/project budgets (with guidance from the Director of Programmes Strategy), including supporting grant application and reporting responsibilities where necessary.

3. Stakeholder Engagement (members and partners): Engage with stakeholders to ensure that our programmes/projects align with their goals and needs, working with the Director of Programmes Strategy and wider programme team to explore best practice engagement tactics throughout 2024.

4. Subject Matter Expertise: Stay current with the latest trends in sustainable buildings and WorldGBC programme outputs, ensuring the Lead can communicate knowledgeably about WorldGBC strategy and work areas as required.

5. Communications: Support communication for WorldGBC on topics related to sustainable buildings in relevant programmatic areas, representing the team at internal or external events or industry working groups and collaborating with Marketing & Communications on accurate messaging for publications and campaigns.

6. Supporting Programmes team: Be a committed member of the WorldGBC team and offer support, training and expertise to wider members of the team. Participate and engage in wider WorldGBC campaigns, events and deliverables, such as COP, World Green Building Week and Leadership Summit.

Nature Based Solutions Manager - London and Slough
Location: London and Slough/Hybrid Working

Function: Project Management

As our Nature Based Solutions Manager, you will be at the forefront of the co-creation of NBS that change peoples' lives and the places they live in two projects - Project Sponge in Slough and Community Bluescapes in Richmond, London. Alongside the other team members, you will demonstrate the power of urban wetlands and other blue infrastructure to help communities to adapt to climate change and build better, safer, more natural places to live.

Your key role will be to co-design and deliver with the local community NBS interventions that build resilience to flooding, provide space for wetland wildlife and improve health and well-being of citizens. You'll manage the tendering process and contractors; ensure high quality and innovative interventions are created and effectively communicate messages about climate change and nature-based solutions to citizens, partners and stakeholders.

This is an exciting, innovative approach to climate change adaptation at street and neighbourhood level. It places local residents at the heart of decision-making, design and delivery of interventions that help keep them safe from floods, droughts, heat stress and create more natural places too.

This role is suitable for hybrid working with the expectation that the successful candidate will spend up to half the working week on site with options for working from home or in office accommodation as appropriate.

 About You

You'll need  a professional qualification in NBS/SuDS/NFM design and installation or similar or significant equivalent experience from previous roles.

• Develop the project plan and ensure that the right governance structure for project management is in place and RSPB internal project management practices are followed, so that the project stays on track, comes in on budget and risks are identified, escalated, and managed within tolerances.
• Work with local environmental networks to build a picture of nature-based activities available and identify opportunities for partnership working.
• Lead on developing ways to evaluate and measure the impact of the project, including engaging with those prescribing and local communities to gather stories and case studies that demonstrate the benefits to wellbeing and connectedness to nature.
• Build internal relationships with RSPB employees and volunteers working with nature prescribing and nature and wellbeing across the UK.
• Develop a strategy and plan for Nature and Wellbeing work legacy aiming to learn from the work done in Scotland and England and from the communities and health care professionals in Cardiff and surrounds to support development of future work in Cardiff and beyond.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of working within or alongside the health and wellbeing sector.

You will champion and train colleagues in how to get the most from data, creating a framework for data classification, discovery and the provision of self-service datasets and increasing data literacy across the organisation.

The Candidate
We are looking for someone with experience in developing and implementing data governance policies, standards and procedures, with an understanding of advocating for better use and management of data along with delivering better data literacy within an organisation. We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Ecologist to join our Environment and Climate action team within the S&I Directorate and is responsible for delivering the Trust’s strategy and policy on all environment and climate related sustainability issues, including environmental compliance as a minimum, improvement of our protected sites and achieving a net gain in biodiversity across our canal network.

The Ecologist will be responsible for providing professional technical input into the Trust’s strategic activities around nature recovery. This includes collecting and analysing information and data to support a long-term action plan to move more of our protected sites towards favourable condition and support projects that increase biodiversity and the abundance of protected species across the network.

The Canal & River Trust is in an ideal position, as a large landowner with blue and green corridors connecting habitats across the landscape, to carry out environmental enhancements using our local volunteer workforce to ensure that we improve habitats and support biodiversity. Planting the right trees in the right places, reconnecting old hedgerows and restoring or creating wildflower meadows and linear species-rich grasslands to provide a safe haven for wildlife and a destination for people to retreat to from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Reconnecting people with the nature on their doorstep and offering them opportunities to get involved in looking after ‘their patch’ through guided walks and talks.

Our aim is to support the work of the Trust as a whole, while conserving and enhancing the environment of the inland waterway network. Finding simple and innovative solutions/methods of work to ensure that the modern-day use of the waterways, their historical importance, the Trust’s legal obligations and strategic priorities are met through sustainable development, conservation and enhancement of the natural environment.

Location

The role will be based working from home, with the expectation to attend main regional hubs either at Milton Keynes, Birmingham, or Little Venice (Paddington), for collaborative working. This is a national role, requiring collaboration with teams in all six of the Trust’s regions. There will be an expectation that the successful candidate will be able travel to attend meetings or fieldwork throughout the regional waterway network.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

Key accountabilities:

• Provide ecological technical advice as requested. This includes input into Trust EMS standards and tools and nature recovery projects.
• Contribute to the Trust’s Nature Recovery Strategy and associated sustainability initiatives, with a view to increasing biodiversity across the Trust’s network
• Contribute to national programmes of engagement with customers, volunteers, stakeholders and the general public to promote the value of waterways and the work of the Trust to increase the Trust’s reputation and influence and secure additional resources for our work, focusing on our key sustainability priorities.
• Work with regional ecology teams to implement relevant inspection/monitoring and maintenance programmes for environmental/soft estate assets within their geographical remit, (re-)prioritising work to suit available resources and within delegated authority levels.
• Contribute to the implementation of an environmental management system (EMS; including associated processes & standards) especially with responsibility for monitoring national uptake
• Collaboration with regional teams to maintain ecology and nature recovery performance data (e.g. GIS layers, ecological baseline and species location data)
• Assist in the development of environmental training & competency
• Contribute to corporate targets on raising public awareness of and support for the Trust especially through interest in our environmental assets.
• Contribute to external engagement and fundraising nationally to secure additional resources for the Trust, especially through interest in our environmental assets

The Environment and Climate action team is responsible for delivering the Trust’s strategy and policy on all environment and climate related sustainability issues, including environmental compliance as a minimum, improvement of our protected sites and achieving a net gain in biodiversity across our canal network.

Reporting to the Head of Environment and Climate action, the Nature Recovery Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the Trusts position and progress on nature recovery. The role includes delivering a long-term action plan to move more of our protected sites to favourable condition and collaborating with other teams across the Trust to develop, fund and deliver projects that increase biodiversity and the abundance of protected species across the network.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

Key Accountabilities:

• Develop, implement and maintain the Trust’s nature recovery strategy
• Develop and own a national action plan to improve the condition of the Trust’s protected sites to meet the requirements set out in the Environmental Improvement Plan 2023.
• Develop, deliver, and report on a programme of projects and activities enabling the Trust to demonstrate its biodiversity commitments as a 28G authority and that it is delivering an overall net gain in biodiversity across the network. This includes working closely with teams delivering mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain.
• Collaborate with the Fundraising, Marketing, Campaigns and Enterprise functions to deliver high quality, fundable nature recovery projects.
• Ownership of Trust standards relating to protected sites and biodiversity; working with internal technical experts and the Trust’s legal team to ensure that all Trust standards relating to protected sites and biodiversity meet regulatory requirements.
• Working with the Trust’s operational and delivery teams to ensure that standards are delivered and align with business processes through a process of assurance checking.
• Manage external technical input where requires (e.g. from consultants)
• Assist in the investigation of environmental incidents, near misses and ensure the production and dissemination of key learnings
• Producing progress reports (quarterly/ annually/ as necessary) for Defra and the wider public as well as input into our annual accounts and ESG reports
• Producing case studies and other examples of best practice for internal and external audiences
• Developing and delivering biodiversity and nature recovery training
• Displaying the Trust values and behaviours at all times.
• Ensuring that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of Trust life and promoting inclusion by challenging behaviour, practices, actions, or decisions that are counter to the objectives of the Trust’s policies and values.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills:

• Full Member CIEEM (MCIEEM) qualification or equivalent
• Broad understanding of key policy drivers for improving biodiversity in UK organisations, e.g Environmental Improvement Plan 2023, TNFD etc.
• Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing opportunities to improve nature within an organisation with multiple objectives and environmental aspects.
• Practical understanding of the UK regulatory frameworks for biodiversity, habitats, and protected species
• Working knowledge of the key metrics tools for Biodiversity Net Gain (Defra Metric 4.0, UK Habitats and MoRPH) and how these can be used to demonstrate improvements in biodiversity.
• Experience with working with protected sites and the new Natural England framework for categorising and managing pressures, mechanism and actions
• Experience with working with climate change datasets (e.g. UKCP18) to develop adaptation plans for biodiversity under future climate scenarios/
• Authoring company standards and guidance within an Environmental Management System
• Project/ programme management skills
• Developing business cases

About the role 

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Sustrans Behaviour Change and Engagement Team as it looks to encourage those in Harlow and the surrounding area to walk, wheel, and cycle. 

As an Active Travel Project Officer in Harlow and Gilston Town (HGGT), you will assist in the delivery of the behaviour change programme to schools, workplaces and community groups. The project will encourage and enable the community to travel sustainably and actively, through various initiatives, events and competitions. 

Your role will include duties such as the creation of materials and communications to increase the visibility of your work, delivering activities and events with a variety of people, reporting and presenting to stakeholders, and analysing surveys and other monitoring data. 

You will build and manage internal and external relationships with key people such as local community leaders, schools, businesses, local authority officers, along with all Sustrans colleagues within the region. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

Main Objectives

With responsibility for the Fundraising at UKHarvest, the post holder will:

Required experience

The successful applicant will have at least 5 years fundraising experience as a Head of Fundraising, managing and leading a fundraising team. This newly created role will be part of our Corporate Performance team and will lead on the next phase of a groundbreaking project.This role sits under the Forest IQ team, along with two researchers and the Forest IQ Lead. This role will support the operational smooth running of the team, with a particular focus contracting and onboarding Forest IQ’s users. 

Forest IQ provides major data-service providers and financial institutions with market-leading data about corporate performance on deforestation, conversion of natural ecosystems and associated human rights abuses. This will enable financial institutions to identify risks and opportunities to help them to deliver deforestation free portfolios by 2025.

Keep Britain Tidy has a new opportunity for a Project Manager to manage the Chewing Gum Task Force programme. The Chewing Gum Task Force is a partnership between Defra, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs in Northern Ireland, Scottish Government and Welsh Government and chewing gum producers including Mars Wrigley and Perfetti Van Melle which aims to clean up historic gum staining from UK high streets and change behaviour so that more people bin their gum.

The Project Manager will lead on overall administration of the scheme and manage the cleansing grant programme for councils, working alongside partner organisation Behaviour Change. In Years 1 and 2 of the scheme, participating councils have seen reductions in gum littering of up to 80% in the first two months. Now in Year 3, we will shortly distribute more than £1.2m funding to councils across the UK.

This is an exciting role within a fast-paced charity. You will have a proven track record in project management, ideally in environmental projects and/or grant schemes. Excellent organisational and record keeping skills are a must, along with the ability to form good working relationships with Chewing Gum Task Force stakeholders.
