We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Area Branch Development Manager to join our field operations team. You will join us working 35 hours per week (including some evening and weekends) on a 12 month fixed-term contract basis and in return you will receive a competitive salary of up to £41,363 per annum, plus car allowance and excellent benefits.
The role will be home-based and the successful candidate must be based in (or willing to relocate to) Cornwall or West Devon, as travel is necessary for the execution of the post holder’s duties throughout this region.
Since 1927, Cats Protection has helped thousands of cats each year, across the UK. As a community of volunteers, employees, supporters and partners, we’ve improved the lives of millions of cats and transformed the way millions of people see and care for cats.
Our branch network is made up of groups of volunteers, led by a Branch Team Leader and overseen by a branch committee. Usually volunteering from their own homes, our branch volunteers foster cats until they are ready to re-home, raise funds to directly help the cats in their care, spread vital cat welfare messages across to members of the public, carry out trap-neuter-return activity, and much more!
Responsibilities of our Area Branch Development Manager:
As an Area Branch Development Manager you will be accountable for the development, growth and local governance of branches within a designated area. Providing a solution-driven approach with the aim of helping more cats through the effective engagement of local volunteers. You will develop and deliver an area plan that captures the importance of volunteer engagement, recruitment, support, enabling and succession planning to ultimately achieve branch growth and sustainability. You will work collaboratively with other CP regional teams where appropriate, identifying where there are opportunities to achieve more by working together.
What we’re looking for in our Area Branch Development Manager:
- Proven management experience including drafting business and operational plans
- Proven experience of leading and managing volunteers
- Experience of planning and implementing new processes and systems across a multi-site organisation
- Proficient IT skills, including all aspects of Microsoft Office relevant packages and knowledge of database management
- Personal and professional manner and credibility that generate trust and confidence in others
- Knowledge of the animal welfare sector
- Hold current full clean driving licence

About the role
As Major Gifts Manager, you'll join the charities growing philanthropy team working on a portfolio of £5-100k+ gifts where you'll steward Major Donors in Scotland and work on building a new pipeline of high networth individuals. With a warm pool of prospects, and exciting and varied programmes to talk to them about, you'll be part of a vibrant and supportive culture where people are encouraged to try new things and get creative. Led by a supportive and collaborative team who believe in empowering each other, you'll be given the freedom to work in the way that best suits you.
About you
You've got a proven track record of making the ask at the five/six figure mark. You create inspiring and emotive proposals, tailored to the individual with a focus on outcomes and impact. You're confident in picking up the phone and getting out to meet donors, where you communicate and influence effectively. You thrive in a homeworking environment, managing your time well and organising a pipeline of work independently. Whilst previous philanthropy experience would come in handy, we are open to applications from fundraisers with transferable skills and experience in other income streams but you must be able to demonstrate you understand the theory of how Philanthropy works. What we'll also need you to demonstrate is a talent for relationship building and a passion for stewardship; the ability to listen carefully and intuitively to shape opportunities for donors to give. • Plan and deliver a schedule of high-quality submissions that delivers on time and on targets
• Oversee the implementation of the terms and conditions of successful grants, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of projects performance against the agreed activity plan and liaise with colleagues as necessary
Record and maintain accurate records of donor communication and income through our CRM, producing reports and insights where appropriate

The Role

This post is a full-time role working 37.5 hours in the Congress department and reports to the Events Manager.
