Nurturing Natural Connections 

Our client is looking for a passionate and driven person to habitat restoration, creation and enhancement activities on their owned greenspaces within the Nurturing Natural Connections (NNC) project, working closely with the Cumbernauld Reserves Manager, and project partners, and with the help of volunteers. 

Building on the success of previous projects, this project continues to realise the Cumbernauld Living Landscape long-term vision to improve Cumbernauld’s green spaces for both people and wildlife, helping everyone in the community connect with the nature on their doorstep. 

The candidate: 

The successful candidate will have a Higher Education qualification in environmental land management (Wildlife conservation/agriculture) and at least two years’ experience of wildlife reserve management and demonstrable track record in the environmental land management sector. 

Main Objectives 

The main objectives of the role are: 

Habitat management 

• Support delivery of habitat works, including woodland restocking towards native semi-natural woodland, creation and enhancement of species-rich grasslands and enhancing riparian corridors. 

• Monitor and evaluate (M&E) the delivery of these works including details of their successes and challenges. 

• Undertake and manage the maintenance of tools and equipment for relevant sites, including machinery, to ensure safe and efficient operation. 

• Respond to severe weather events with reactive remedial works as required e.g. clearing fallen trees and reinstating ground damaged by flooding. 

Health and Safety 

• Ensure compliance with health and safety, including safe working practices, volunteer safety, premises safety, and site safety. 

• Ensure all work by project staff, and volunteers is carried out in a safe manner, and in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, policies, activity risk assessments and best practice guidance. 

Volunteer recruitment 

• Support the recruitment of volunteers and identify and promote volunteer opportunities within Cumbernauld Living Landscape. 

• Work with individual volunteers and volunteer groups (including corporate groups) so that their contributions and experiences are maximised and, where required, organise and mentor volunteers ensuring that they receive support and appropriate training. 

Wider project work 

• Support the team’s wider communications plan with blogs and social media content. 

• Support project team with events and other project-wide opportunities, with occasional working of evenings and weekends for activities including bat walks, moth trapping and dawn chorus walks. 

• Contribute to project reporting, including M&E across the life of the project (2025-2030), including the identification of highlights and challenges. 

The successful candidate will ideally have: 

• Relevant degree or N/SVQ Level 3 / 4 or equivalent demonstrable experience relating to countryside management. 

• Certification to NPTC/Lantra standards and experience in chainsaw maintenance, cross cutting and felling small trees. CS 30 and 31 or willingness to undergo qualification. 

• Certification to NPTC/Lantra standards and experience in strimmer and brushcutter operations or willingness to undergo qualification. 

• Certificate for trailer, all-terrain vehicles or willingness to undergo qualification. 

• Current first aid qualification or willingness to gain 

• 2 years of planning and delivering practical conservation work. 

• 2 years of volunteer supervision & management. 

• Demonstrable experience in the safe use and maintenance of hand and power tools. 

• Good understanding of land management for wildlife conservation, notably native flora & fauna.

The Direct Marketing Manager at CBM UK is a vital role and has responsibility for delivering CBM UKs digital and direct marketing plans to engage and inspire individual supporters and churches to support the work of CBM.
Working closely with the Head of Marketing, as part of the Public Fundraising team, the role holder will be responsible for the management and development of two Marketing Officers. Through digital and direct marketing, the Public Fundraising team are responsible for raising over £3m of unrestricted income from cultivation, acquisition, mid-value donors, regular giving, legacies and churches.

Key responsibilities
Fundraising campaign management (40%)
Manage the effective implementation of the annual public fundraising plan, ensuring that all activity is of a high standard, and delivered on time and to budget:
a. Oversee cultivation fundraising appeals primarily carried out through direct mail and email, leading on the continued development of mass fundraising to engage both existing and potential supporters, including high donors, regular givers and church communities.
b. Manage and develop CBM UKs donor acquisition activity in collaboration with the Marketing Officer (Acquisition), using channels such as social media, magazine inserts, press advertising, email and telephone.
c. Oversee the delivery of CBM UKs legacy and in-memoriam giving plans and campaigns.
d. Identify and consider new income streams and broaden the channels used currently for direct response campaigns to reach an agreed balance of long-term value versus risk.

Digital marketing (40%)
Grow digital engagement and income from new and existing supporters:
a. Lead on Pay Per Click strategy, including agency management and development of internal capabilities.
b. Oversee CBM UK’s paid social media activity.
c. Collaborate with the Communications Team to optimise the performance (traffic and income) of fundraising pages, including appeal and donation pages, churches and community, legacy, and in memoriam giving. Ensuring fundraising pages on the CBM website are engaging to existing and new audiences and where appropriate, utilising Search Engine Optimisation tools where appropriate.

d. Explore and make use of new and existing digital platforms and partners, such as Dataro and SEMrush, while promoting a culture of testing, innovation and learning within the digital space.

Leadership and people management (10%)
a. Support and inspire direct reports in line with CBM UK’s staff management policies and procedures. Ensure team members are appropriately trained, briefed and motivated to achieve their objectives and meet targets and recruit to posts where relevant. Regular 121s and appraisal reviews.
Planning and reporting (10%)
a. Monitor and report on fundraising appeals, identifying opportunities for future testing and optimisation, and contribute to the creation of annual planning, budgeting, and the setting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
b. Work closely with the Data and Insight team to ensure strong joint working on technical solutions related to campaign analysis, tracking and insights across digital systems, such as the website, donation platform and CRM (Salesforce).
c. Plan, deliver and report on campaigns/projects within an agreed budget.

Other
a. Ensure the consistent use of CBMs brand, key messages and style guide across all fundraising activities.
b. Maintain awareness of and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to direct marketing, including Fundraising Regulator guidance, and Data Protection legal requirements (GDPR and PECR).
c. Collaborate with colleagues across CBM UK and the CBM Global Federation, to support integrated and partnership based working.
d. Help foster a positive and inclusive culture of enthusiasm and success, reflecting the ambitions of CBM, and promoting positive working and innovation.
e. Be willing to work occasionally outside normal office hours and to travel in the UK and internationally if required.
f. Ensuring that the values of CBM UK are understood by external partners and always reflected in communications.

About the Role

The role of the Visitor Experience Duty Manager is to support the Visitor Experience Team (VE) with the management of gallery opening hours and the events calendar. Motivating and leading the VE Team, on a day-to-day basis, providing an inspiring, engaging and inclusive visitor experience for broad and diverse audiences.

This role will cover weekends, evening events and occasional leave days for the VE Team. Visitor Experience Duty Managers fulfil Duty Management responsibilities for the building to ensure the safety and security of staff, visitors and exhibitions/events.

Responsibilities

Operational and Health & Safety

• The VEDM (Visitor Experience Duty Manager) is responsible for opening and / or closing the building on their shift, and for the setting of alarms. They are also required, in an emergency, to organise maintenance of the building, including intruder and fire alarms. All Duty Managers are included on the call out list for possible out of hours alarm issues.
• In the event of an emergency or fire alarm the VEDM is required to manage a full building evacuation and work as the contact person to the fire brigade.
• To ensure that the building is safe and clean by checking all areas before the building is open to the public or before an event. Turning on/off all lighting and replacing bulbs where necessary, checking fuse boards and making minor repairs, cleaning toilets when necessary. Continue to monitor throughout the day, allocating deliveries to appropriate storage areas, checking toilet facilities and following general risk assessment for areas of prohibited public access.
• To manage and adhere to all Health and Safety and building security practices, including completing risk assessments for events. On the shifts when the Duty Manger is the only key holder in the building they must not leave the premises.
• To be responsible for upholding the premises licence according to the Licensing Act 2003, to ensure the café/bar adheres to alcohol licensing laws and to oversee the selling and consumption of alcohol within the building and any other licensed activities. To ensure that capacity numbers for events are not exceeded.
• The Duty Manager is required to turn on / off the show and ensure it is functioning correctly during gallery opening hours. Also, to ensure a curator or the Production Manager is informed of any faults, breakages etc.
• Lead and motivate Visitor Experience team members and volunteers to ensure the delivery of high standards of visitor and artwork care, safety, security, visitor welcome, wayfinding, building presentation and housekeeping.
• Brief the Visitor Experience Team Members and volunteers daily about their duties for the shift and ensure they have all the necessary resources in order to provide an excellent standard of customer service to all visitors.
• To be a First Aider and know the location of the First Aid boxes.
• To cover the break of the shop staff and/or VE team and to provide cover in the galleries, shop or Information Desk during busy periods or in an emergency.
• To ensure that Shop takings are secured in the safe.
• To read any emails or hand over notes at the beginning of his / her shift and to communicate to the Visitor Services Manager (VSM) any issues arising during their shift and record incidents in the incident log book.

Visitor Experience

• Work collaboratively with other members of the Visitor Experience team and other gallery departments providing services that contribute to visitor experience, (including the cafe and shop) to ensure a consistent and seamless service is provided to our visitors.
• To be able to give short tours/presentations to schools/groups about the current exhibition.
• To deal with all general enquiries and problems that may arise during the shift in a calm and professional manner with both customers and staff.
• Work with VSM to manage group booking enquiries sensitively and efficiently.
• Work with the VSM to develop projects that will build on and enhance the visitor experience.
• Work with the VSM to coach and develop the Visitor Experience team to ensure their skills and knowledge of gallery activities are up-to-date.
• Assist the VSM with the delivery of induction and training sessions for Visitor Experience team members and volunteers.

Events

• To assist in the coordination of events with event organisers and other key staff to ensure that all arrangements have been made for staff, equipment and booking of each event.
• To support the events and hires programme at the gallery, including setting up of AV equipment and moving furniture for events.
• Work with Commercial Manager to keep up to date with hire enquiries and show prospective clients available spaces if required.
• To provide a warm welcome to hirers, visiting speakers, artists, and ensure they have everything they need for their event.
• Complete event reports for all events and distribute VSM and event organisers.
• Checking online sales and tickets, assisting with processing sales and bookings for events when necessary. Ensure that all visitor figures and sales are recorded after each event.

Person Specification

Essential

• Excellent communication skills demonstrating the ability to deal with colleagues, visitors and external partners.
• Experience of working with the public and of providing excellent customer service, preferably gained in an arts/entertainment environment.
• Strong organisational skills and the willingness to be involved in the practical set up of events.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work flexibly including evenings and weekends.
• Experience of using and setting up AV equipment, lifting and carrying equipment, chairs and tables. An enthusiasm for art and commitment to the work of Modern Art Oxford.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings and late nights (occasionally until 3am).

Desirable

• Experience of managing a small team.
• Health & Safety qualification
• Competent user of Microsoft Office
• Training in First Aid.
• Willing to train as a personal licence holder.
• Experience of being a key holder.

About the Role

As Policy Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in our mission to reduce suicide. You’ll lead the development of evidence-based policy positions, influence national and local decision-making, and ensure our voice, and the voices of people with lived experience, are heard at the highest levels. This is an exciting time to join Samaritans Scotland, as we are a lead partner in Scotland’s national suicide prevention strategy, working closely with the Scottish Government and other partners to deliver the actions in the strategy and reduce lives lost to suicide in Scotland.

Working closely with the Head of Policy and Communications, you’ll manage a Policy & Engagement Officer and collaborate with colleagues across the UK and Ireland.

Your role will be challenging and rewarding. You’ll be positive, engaging and passionate, with motivational strengths which will enable you to lead and drive your team and inspire colleagues, external stakeholders, and people who want to stand alongside us in pushing for change. You’ll play a key role in ensuring we influence with one voice and help drive change to support suicide prevention.

• Lead the development of policy positions and research to support suicide prevention in Scotland.
• Manage and mentor a Policy & Engagement Officer.
• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including government, public bodies, and the voluntary sector.
• Represent Samaritans externally, including at national forums and events.
• Develop and deliver influencing strategies, including responses to consultations and parliamentary inquiries.
• Ensure the voices of volunteers and people with lived experience are central to our policy work.

 What We’re Looking For

 Essential:

• Extensive experience in policy development and influencing within a Scottish context.
• Strong understanding of mental health, suicide prevention, and/or inequalities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proven ability to manage people and projects effectively.
• Experience working collaboratively across teams and sectors.

 Desirable:

• Background in mental health or suicide prevention.
• Experience of working with people with lived experience to inform policy.

Our Covent Garden theatre has been at the heart of London and British cultural life for three centuries. We are home to two world-class Companies: The Royal Ballet and The Royal Opera.

The Membership Team are responsible for circa £10m income in membership donations, including Gift Aid. We are now seeking to recruit a Membership Coordinator on a contract basis to support at a busy time of growth. The role holder will work within the Membership Team, responsible for the philanthropic income from Friends and Patrons, and undertake the efficient administration of the membership programme whilst providing first-class customer service to keep our Friends and Patrons engaged and valued.

This role will suit a candidate who has strong experience in a customer-facing environment (ideally in a membership organisation and/or box office) and is able to use diplomacy in dealing with a variety of different customer groups.
