The Welfare Adviser will provide high quality specialist welfare benefits and housing advice, information and guidance to our service users, referring them internally and externally for additional advocacy and support as required, following organisational policies and procedures, and ensuring fulfilment of regulatory compliance with our Advice Quality Standard (AQS) accreditation, meeting the standards of quality in the delivery of advice services as required. The post-holder will work closely and collaboratively with other advisers, staff team members, interns, trainees, and volunteers as relevant, providing face-to-face advice, by telephone or other digital media.

Main accountabilities​

1. To provide LAH service users with high quality free specialist welfare benefits advice and guidance on income maximisation, that is accurate, effective, and tailored to their particular needs and circumstances.
2. Manage an adequate caseload of enquiries from LAH service users in a condition of extreme financial need, including those who are homeless  (or on the brink of homelessness).
3. To contribute to the development of LAH Advice Programme, which aims to provide frontline, one-to-one advice and casework in key areas of need for the community, including welfare entitlements, housing, employment and immigration.

AIM OF ROLE:
The aim of the requalification caseworker is to work with clients that apply to our requalification, loan and employment programme. This includes processing loan applications and conducting loan interviews, loan administration, client casework and supporting relationships with professional bodies. You will develop learning plans, attend sector-specific events, network to build a robust toolbox of support for clients, research pathways and offer advice and guidance to prospective clients, current clients and other programmes within RefuAid.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Casework; directly working with clients from loan application to loan repayment - conducting check-ins and supporting clients with re-qualification, loan and other related issues.
● Casework; ensuring clients are well supported and signposting or referring to support services where required.
● Providing guidance and career advice - overlooking CVs, supporting job interview preparation and searches, sending tailored resources, writing references and signposting.
● Meeting clients face to face whether in the office or visiting loan and re-qualification recipients all over the UK - this can be a mixture of London-based and national.
● Researching suitable employment and education pathways - outreaching to professional bodies and employers to ask for sector-specific advice where necessary, creating new relationships with as-of-yet unexplored fields.
● Working with the requalification lead to assess loan applications using a character-based model.
● Processing loans and travel payments to clients.
● Working closely with the loan administrator to ensure a seamless journey from initial application to full repayment - contacting our loan administrators where necessary.
● Supporting relationships with professional bodies.
● Working closely with all other RefuAid programmes to ensure holistic support for clients and supporting a streamlined referral process.

We have an exciting Assistant Support Worker (known internally as Duty Worker) opportunity where you will develop valuable skills and experience while playing a key role in providing support to St Mungo’s clients.

You will be joining the Westminster Move On and Resettlement Service, which consists of several semi-independent houses and flats in the north of the borough. The staff team provides support to nearly 80 clients many of whom have complex support needs. We work closely with a number of external services specialising in substance use, physical and mental health. Our aim is to support people with a history of sleeping rough, and work with them to develop the skills, networks and confidence to live independently in the community.

In this role you will work closely with the team to jointly manage the safe day to day running of the service, and you will provide basic support and advice to clients. You will often be the first point of contact for clients, contractors, and be a vital part of ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment within the service. You will take a lead role on health and safety and help to coordinate repairs and maintenance and other administrative duties while working alongside the team to provide a person-centred support to clients.

About you

This is a fantastic role for someone looking to develop a career in the sector. We are looking for a friendly, motivated self-starter who is keen to get experience of working directly with our clients. In addition you will have:

• Some experience of dealing directly with the public and/or clients or customers in a busy service environment

The Advice Centre at The Harbour Project is the heart of the charity. JOB PURPOSE

To inspire people with mental health conditions to progress, and to gain and sustain paid employment.  Some Employment Specialists will support clients with common (mild to moderate) mental health conditions (e.g. anxiety, depression), whilst others will support clients with more severe and enduring mental illness (e.g. schizophrenia, bipolar, personality disorders).

Depending on what clients are right for you to work with, you will either work across the local NHS primary or secondary care network alongside NHS clinicians to secure client referrals.

To work with clients with more serious mental illness, you will need to be comfortable supporting people who have experienced / are experiencing serious mental health challenges, as well as possibly other serious difficulties in their lives.  Although you will receive full training and support, it’s important you are aware of the potential impact this may have on your own mental wellbeing.

All Employment Specialists will follow the 8 principles of IPS, adhere to the IPS Fidelity Scale and achieve monthly targets and KPIs with the required administration and compliance.

Responsibilities and Duties

1. Engage a caseload of clients with mental health problems and establish trusting, collaborative relationships to support them into employment in line with contract targets and IPS fidelity.

2. Assess clients’ employment support needs; implementing and adjusting employment plans as necessary to support each client’s desired outcomes along IPS requirements.

3. Develop and deliver a range of practical services to meet clients’ needs including career guidance, job searching, CV preparation, interview skills, individual coping techniques or work coaching.

4. Build a constant flow of referrals to ensure a dynamic caseload.

5. Conduct weekly employer engagement activity in line with IPS Fidelity.

6. Understand the complex issues a client may face, recognise holistic support needs and work in conjunction with clinical staff.

We are recruiting a part-time (2 days per week) Carer Support Coordinator to join our supportive team who are committed to making life better for Manchester’s unpaid carers. The Bone Cancer Research Trust strives to provide a supportive network for all primary bone cancer patients to limit their feelings of isolation and anxiety. Given the rarity of the disease, patients can often go through their entire treatment and recovery without meeting another patient, so external support is vital.

Over the last 4 years, our Support & Information Service has seen significant growth, and developed to become a leading source of support for patients, family members, siblings and friends of patients.  Our Support & Information team provide enduring support and ensure that this can be accessed at any point in a primary bone cancer journey and by anyone affected.

Our aim is to increase the reach of the service further, ensuring that all patients diagnosed in the UK have the opportunity to access our Support & Information Service.  The Support & Information Officer will play a pivatol role in achieving this through building lasting relationships with both patients and families and healthcare professionals.

Are you passionate about empowering and supporting carers?

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a Queen’s Award winning charity supporting unpaid carers in the London borough of Redbridge.  You will give advice and information to carers and work closely with them to develop person centred support plans.  You will work within a Community Support Team to deliver peer support groups, wellbeing activities, advice surgeries, outreach and events across the borough.

If you have experience of 1-1 support work and of providing advice and information, particularly around welfare benefits, this could be the perfect role for you.  We are looking for someone with an understanding of carers issues and experience of working with people from diverse communities.  This is a varied and demanding role requiring good communication and time management skills and a common sense approach to helping others.  Your skills and experience will make a positive difference to the lives of carers and their families.

This is a part time 21 hour per week post mainly based in Ilford with some community outreach and home working.
