This role supports the delivery of METRO’s groups for LGBTQ+ young people, alongside a Lead Youth Worker. The successful applicant will work with the Youth Group Lead to deliver sessions, promote the group and complete administrative tasks associated with the groups. The role sits in METROs vibrant Youth Domain Team, where we are all motivated by creating safer spaces for all LGBTQ+ and questioning young people to thrive.

Programme

METRO youth groups provide safe, social spaces for LGBTQ+ young people to meet and receive support from youth workers and their peers.

The groups provide a structured programme of activities which is co-designed with young people. The programme addresses key areas such as mental health and wellbeing, sexual health, drugs and alcohol awareness, as well as rights for young LGBTQ+ people. The programme supports with employment, study, life skills, and healthy living.

The groups also provide opportunities to connect and participate in cross-group events such as half-term events, Prides, Youth Summits, and other opportunities. To support this staff is required to occasionally change their working pattern to other evenings and weekend work. Employees are offered sessional work as and when there is a need in the domain.

Role

This role will primarily be posted at METRO’s weekly “Snap” LGBTQ+ group in Bromley for 16–24-year-olds. The group is delivered in person. The role will occasionally support cross-group events and outings as per agreement. METRO Youth workers are often offered extra sessional work to provide cover in other locations across south London. Staff travel expenses outside of regular place of work is covered by METRO.

Job Description - Freelance Youth Support Worker

• Freelance contract of up to 8 hours per week at £18 per hour for an estimated 44 weeks of the year.

• Attend after school club sessions periodically to understand the needs of participants and support participation in the wider circus programme, currently Wednesday evenings 10 weeks per term.

Hillside Clubhouse operates an established Employment Advice (EA) service integrated into NHS Talking Therapies (iCope).  The programme aims to support Islington residents who are assessed within iCope and who require employment advice.

The EAs in iCope initiative was designed as an integrated employment and mental health service to improve both mental health and employment outcomes. EAs are part of the iCope team and work alongside therapists to provide employment support to help iCope clients remain in work, return to work, or find employment.  This takes the form of personalised support for the client backed up by an action plan detailing the client’s employment goals and the actions that the client, the therapist, and the EA agree to take to meet these goals.  

Overall aim 

iCope (Talking Therapies) is an NHS Programme that provides evidence based psychological therapies to treat people with mild to moderate and moderate to severe depression and anxiety disorders.  

The new Employment Advisor (EA) will work within the Islington NHS Talking Therapies provision. They will work one-to-one with a caseload of between 25-35 clients referred by NHS Talking Therapies therapists to find employment, remain in existing work if they are struggling, improve their working environment, return to work following sickness or positively leave or retire from work. 

You will primarily fulfil these duties by providing information, advice and guidance to clients who choose to receive employment support. The support aims to empower clients to make better decisions about their working lives, as well as communicate better with colleagues and managers in existing roles. You will also signpost clients to other relevant support agencies, as appropriate. 

This role would suit someone with a background in employment support, psychology, counselling, human resources, recruitment, or a desire to transfer their skills into the mental health support sector.  

Method of working 

EMPLOYMENT ADVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES 

1. Engage a mixed caseload of clients at any given time serving 100-125 per year, with common mental health problems, to establish trusting, collaborative relationships to support them to find new employment or support them in, or to leave, existing employment. Support will be provided face-to-face in Talking Therapies settings, via secure online meeting platforms or over the telephone. 

2. Along with their NHS clinician, assess clients’ support needs with a view to creating, implementing, and adjusting a personalised action plan to help improve clients’ mental health and achieve their stated employment goals.

3. Develop and deliver a range of practical services to support clients to find work, including career guidance, job searching skills, CV preparation, application form completion, interview skills, advice on local labour market opportunities and advice on education and training to further their career. 

4. Provide guidance to support clients to stay in existing work, including advice on mental health disclosure, negotiating reasonable adjustments to existing workplaces, creating wellness action plans, and improving productivity, support to return to work after sickness absence or to leave an existing role with dignity, and signpost clients to organisations that can represent them (EAs should only look to represent clients in exceptional circumstances). 

5. Facilitate access to other advice in areas such as financial benefits, debt management, food banks and community food outlets and social housing providers, as necessary. 

6. Work directly with partners like Jobcentre Plus, other employment providers, employers, trade unions and employment agencies to support clients to stay in employment and secure employment opportunities. 

7. Build a constant flow of referrals from the clinical team to ensure a dynamic and mixed caseload.

8. Meet referral and performance targets in line with the specific KPI / SLA requirements of the service. 

9. Regularly attend team and other meetings as reasonably expected. 

10. Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service requirements, ensuring both the NHS and Hillside Clubhouse databases are kept up to date and paperwork compliant.

11. Receive regular supervision and training to meet individual, team and organisation’s needs. 

12. Contribute to the development of a service that is locally responsive and supports minority/disadvantaged communities.

13. Comply with and actively promote all Hillside policies and procedures including Equality and Diversity, safeguarding and data protection. 

14. Perform other tasks as required by your manager. 

The role holder must also: 

1. Pass a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an Enhanced level. 

2. Possess excellent IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office software, as well as experience updating and maintaining databases. 

3. Maintain accurate and up to date records of activity and outcomes in line with service performance requirements, ensuring the IT database is up to date and paperwork compliant.

4. Receive regular supervision and training to meet individual, team and organisation’s needs. 

5. Comply with and actively promote all Hillside Clubhouse policies and procedures including Equality and Diversity, Safeguarding, Data Protection and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

The Salvation Army are partnering with the University of Stirling via the Salvation Army Centre for Addiction Services and Research to deliver a trial for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This unique and innovative social care trial will examine the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a Peer Navigator/peer support intervention for people experiencing homelessness and problems with substance use. We are now looking for a Peer Navigator (lived experience practitioner) within our Homelessness service to deliver a relationship-based intervention to those experiencing drug and alcohol problems and homelessness, providing both practical and emotional support.

• Genuine compassion and non-judgemental attitude for people in need with challenging lives.
• Knowledge of the main support needs of people experiencing homelessness and other forms of vulnerability, including problem substance use and challenges with the welfare benefit system.

About the role:

This role is home and office based, with travel throughout London. As a Male Independent Domestic Violence Advocate you will: -

• Ensure that male survivors' safety and housing needs are met, provide specialist support for survivors at the moment of crisis.
• Provision of advocacy; supporting survivors to access safe accommodation, ensure that the service prioritises the safety, security and dignity of service users and their children

You will need:

• an understanding of domestic abuse & its impact
• knowledge of risk assessment, safety planning &risk management
• an understanding of Safeguarding issues &the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues
• knowledge of Housing Law, able to provide up to date advice & information to victims
• experience of working with housing agencies or in a housing setting in the context of domestic abuse

This is an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Development Officer (Early Help Outreach) to be involved in supporting and developing the volunteer aspects of the Befriending project in the Westminster area and to ensure that the organisation reaches and supports as many families as possible, primarily those aged 0-16 years and referred by the Westminster Early Help service as step down families. In addition, you will support the Outreach team supporting families of those aged 0-5 years.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Team Leader on all aspects of volunteer recruitment, such as ensuring there is a continual bank of active volunteers, publicising vacancies and organising and conducting interviews. You will also be responsible for supporting the delivery of volunteer training and providing one to one support and group supervision as appropriate. In addition, the role will include matching of volunteers to families, assessing the needs of families, supporting with home visits, keeping accurate records and completing reports. The post holder will also support holiday activities with wider teams and outreach support.

You will need to have experience of volunteer recruitment and training as well as experience of managing volunteers. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the role of volunteers in community projects. We are looking for someone with experience of family support work and of effectively managing safeguarding issues. CYP Psychotherapist/Counsellor

Based in Hendon

Norwood are looking for a CYP Psychotherapist/Counsellor to provide therapeutic support to children/young people exhibiting emotional and/or behavioural problems or who are at risk of developing such problems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• To provide individual therapy/counselling sessions, supporting pupils where there are concerns about their emotional wellbeing. Group interventions may also be delivered, depending on the needs of the centre/school. 
• To manage your own case load, taking referrals from the team senior or school Senco. To assist in assessing children’s needs and advise parents and/or staff on strategies to support children experiencing difficulties. To work with other Norwood services to support vulnerable families. 
• To demonstrate a range of therapeutic skills/techniques in order to work creatively and effectively with children/young people. 
• To undertake consultations with parents including review meetings. 
• To develop effective working relationships with teachers and support staff as well as parents/carers and other professionals. This may include attending relevant staff meetings and consultations as necessary (if the work is in school). 
• To undertake clinical supervision in accordance with BACP guidelines and participate in regular line management meetings. 
• To attend continuing professional development training as required. 
• To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of child protection issues and put this into practice, attending training as required.
