Do you have experience working with families and children aged 0-13, a good understanding of the needs of vulnerable families and a relevant vocational or academic qualification?

Welcare is recruiting an experienced Family Support Worker to deliver a broad-based preventative support service for families with children up to the age of 13 in partnership with schools, churches, the local authority and other agencies, in the London boroughs of Bromley and Greenwich.

You will be delivering practical and emotional support to enhance the life chances of children who have experienced domestic abuse and social isolation through one-to-one support and group work programmes.  The post requires working with families in person and online remote working.  The office base is in Community House, Bromley.

General Duties:

1. To promote the programmes of work and manage the external and internal referral process including the assessment of need, risk and safeguarding concerns.

2. Hold a caseload of 4 families delivering “whole family” or targeted interventions.

3. Lead and facilitate community group work programmes including 6 #CapeAbility in Schools programme which aims to build resilience and self-esteem for children in key stage 2.

4. Lead and facilitate groupwork programmes for parents such Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities and Child Overcoming Domestic Abuse.

5. Safeguard the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults you work with directly and take appropriate action if escalation is needed.

6. To provide practical and emotional support to families or advocacy and signposting to specialist and universal services where appropriate.

7. Ensuring that the voices and views of children and young people are sought, heard and represented appropriately.

8. Attend designated meetings with multi-agency professionals and act as lead professional where appropriate to support the Team Around the Child/Family or Early Help Assessment (EHA).

Advocacy Project Coordinator
Reports to: Inclusion and Engagement Managers
Salary: £25,272.00 per annum, pro rata

The role

We are seeking to recruit an Advocacy Project Coordinator. The role is to develop and promote the views and needs of people with learning disabilities and neurodiverse people, by coordinating Generate’s self-advocacy activities and self-advocacy group, Generate Voices, with accessible weekly group sessions, associated online campaign (newsletter & social media) and lobbying work.

Your duties include:

• To co-plan and co-deliver weekly Generate Voices self-advocacy group meetings, both online and in person, supporting self-advocates with learning disabilities and/ or autism to ensure they have the tools to make informed decisions, their rights are upheld, their voices are heard, empower them to advocate for themselves and engage members of the self-advocacy groups in planning.
• To work alongside a coordinator with lived experience of learning disability and/ or autism to co-manage all self-advocacy activities, plan future agendas and decide what other speakers and trainers to invite to the forum jointly.
• To provide members with engagement and participation opportunities, and ensure members are meaningfully involved in meaningful and impact focussed projects.
• Develop and deliver effective lobbying and campaigning of key decision makers including attending meetings with those with influence, in order that the views and wishes of self-advocates become known and acted upon. This includes finding ways of encouraging key decision makers to engage with members and take their views and wishes into account when making decisions and setting policy.
• Contact other organisations that campaign for the rights of people with a learning disability and seek opportunities to involve members from the forum in these as appropriate. (Examples – Mencap, Lewisham Speaking Up & Learning Disability England campaigns).
• Delivering and developing project reporting and monitoring and to co-operate with and support any external evaluators.

- Developing a holistic plan of support, and directly delivering aspects of it.

- Liaising with hospitals, social workers, volunteers, family members, carers and other voluntary sector organisations and services.

- Administration related to the delivery of the service.

The Role

About the Service

The Crisis Centre and rest of Nightlight Services (Café’s, Helpline, Daylight provision) is proud to provide urgent support, crisis intervention and emotional support to people experiencing a mental health crisis in Hertfordshire as an alternative to statutory pathways. We provide support to adults across Hertfordshire 7 days a week, 365 days a year through our helpline, crisis cafes and 24/7 Crisis Centre. We aim to provide a safe space for people in crisis to talk and feel supported, be listened to without judgement, access relevant support with problem solving and facilitate access to external services when necessary.

As a member of our diverse team, you will work closely with service users in crisis by using a person-centred approach to ensure that each individual is supported with dignity and respect. By honouring the individual experience of each service user, we are able to respect their autonomy as well as encourage and facilitate positive steps towards management of crisis and recovery.

About the Role

This role is managing a shift, delivering emotional support within a 24/7 four bed crisis house.

Alongside other Crisis Centre Coordinators, to be a key member of the Crisis Centre team, providing effective operational leadership delivering the Nightlight Mental Health Crisis Centre Service. You will be ensuring the delivery and development of quality crisis support services and instilling Hertfordshire Mind Network’s values throughout the provision. You will provide management support to Crisis Centre Mental Health Support Workers and support the Crisis Centre Team Leader in ensuring practice within the service is safe, effective and person centred.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing emotional support and developing, alongside service users, flexible and realistic crisis support/person-centred plans within agreed guidelines with support from the leadership team (including assessments of need, risk, crisis support plans and review forms) in person or via telephone.
• Draw upon own lived experience as appropriate to inform the delivery of person centred support.
• Providing immediate advice and information to clients to support with crisis presentations.
• Liaise with Nightlight management and external services e.g. police, ambulance service, Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team, Single Point of Access, Safeguarding Out of Hours Service, Mental Health Liaison Teams, Adult Community Mental Health Services etc. as needed in terms of accepting referrals and proactively recognising the indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitating appropriate support.
• Complete appropriate signposting/onward referrals to both internal and external services in accordance with identified needs and risks.
• Ensuring record keeping is maintained to the required standards at all times and contributing to service monitoring requirements.
• Arranging transport for service users to facilitate access to services as needed.
• You will line manage a number of Crisis Centre Mental Health Support Workers and be part of the operational management for the Nightlight Crisis Centre.

We are seeking a highly organised Children and Young Person’s Specialist Exploitation Caseworker to work in the St Pauls and Moors Estates in Cheltenham.

The postholders will combine their lived experience of overcoming similar barriers to the client group and their professional experience to provide crucial guidance, support, and mentorship to children and young people who are being, or at high risk of being exploited. 

Through 1:1 mentoring, you will ensure children and young people are equipped to think critically, assess risk, and make better life choices. As an Intensive Engagement Support Worker, you’ll work with key stakeholders, and in particular with the Team Leader and the Dementia Specialist Nurse, to enable people to maximise their potential and quality of life and live as independently as possible, for as long as possible.

This is a full-time role for 37 hours per week, however part-time hours will also be considered. You’ll be required to work occasional evenings and weekends.

The role of the Outreach & Development Worker is to ensure carers of all ages and backgrounds are aware of their rights and know how to receive support from Gaddum and other services they need at the right time for them.

The job holder will provide outreach & support sessions, deliver groups and events for carers and other relevant partners across Salford. Creating exciting new opportunities for carers through networking and building partnerships.

The role will focus on the outreach provision, being based in different locations across Salford including hospitals, community venues, mental health settings and others accessed by people with caring responsibilities. The role will include supporting the continued development of the service, assisting with the creation of resources and training. The role will also support our involvement offer; ensuring carers are at the forefront of service change and service delivery.

About this key role 
As well as providing essential administrative support, including organising meetings, sub-groups, and communications with the Whole System Approach network on behalf of the Whole System Approach Lead, you will carry out research surrounding women’s services and referral pathways to update current service directories and notice boards.  You will be expected to monitor and manage data across various systems and services with the aim of collating and analysing data reports, liaising with external partner agencies to coordinate and promote various St Giles (mobile) women and girls’ services, plus developing and maintaining processes for recording and monitoring resource allocation.

We will also rely on you to develop and maintain an estates log and diary for the purposes of navigating fixed drop-in sessions for women across the county, provide administration for meetings and positively represent the St Giles Wise partnership in all external meetings, including conferences, seminars and other events.

What we are looking for 

• Experience of working in services which provide support to people who have faced adversity and disadvantage 
• Experience of working with support services and statutory agencies within North Yorkshire 
• An understanding of the barriers faced by people with complex and multiple needs
• Knowledge of relevant services across York and North Yorkshire 
• Ability to create / communicate performance and budgetary reports in a variety of formats 
• Strong IT skills, including proven experience of using Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Excellent prioritisation, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written 
• A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.

About SOS+

Working with young people in a variety of educational settings, St. Giles’ SOS+ Service delivers early intervention work, through one-to-one mentoring and preventative sessions on violence, vulnerability and exploitation.  The mission of SOS+ is to prevent children and young people becoming involved in gangs and youth violence by equipping them with tools, knowledge and support delivered by experts with lived experience.

About this key role

Our successful candidate will assess referred clients, with reference to St Giles Trust assessment practices, offering support to up to 20 young people per year, who are identified by local partners as most at need of support.  You will produce support and risk management plans based on these assessments, plus deliver a holistic support service, working independently or with colleagues as the situation dictates, which will involve providing practical guidance on areas such social and housing support, education, training and employment options, and benefits work.

We will count on you to develop and maintain strong relationships with referral and partner agencies, including police, Youth Offending Teams, Probation, local authorities and social services, while closing cases efficiently and positively, identifying a survival plan for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for on-going support is also a key aspect of this role.

What we are looking for

• To have worked on an offender-led support project, had personal experience of the criminal justice system, served a prison sentence, or still be serving a prison sentence in a prison within reach of Greater Manchester
• Experience in negotiation with partner agencies to establish links to further aims of the project
• Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people
• To have a relevant qualification to a good standard or be working towards one
• Knowledge of the local community, its projects and services available to young people
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• A flexible, collaborative and professional approach to your work.
