We are recruiting a Community Development Officer to engage key partners and stakeholders in East Midlands and Cambridgeshire tailoring support, training and education to create suicide safer communities.

What you will do:

Identify, develop and maintain effective partnerships with local communities, volunteers and key partners across the region to engage them in the prevention of young suicide.

Proactively promote suicide prevention including raising the profile of PAPYRUS and engaging with those personally affected by young suicide.

Equip a wide range of stakeholders to enable them to create sustainable suicide safer communities through the provision of tailored support, training and education.

Deliver training and raise awareness of products to a variety of groups including professionals, parents, young people, volunteers and other trainers.

Contribute to the development and review of projects, and education and training products, in line with the Strategic Plans.

Contribute to and promote campaigns, training and opportunities as outlined in the Area and Strategic Plans.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Previous experience working in a community setting, delivering information and training sessions, leading workshops or educational activities

A proven track record of networking and building and managing effective relationships, tailoring the approach to meet the differing needs of the audience

Experience as a qualified ASIST Trainer or willingness to gain qualification and experience

Experience of using own initiative and creativity to develop a project, programme or area of work

The ability to travel to different locations across Peterborough, East Midlands and Cambridgeshire to attend meetings, events and deliver training.

A degree or professional qualification in Education, Counselling, Training, Psychology, Community Development or Youth Work

About the role

The Housing First Team at Crisis offers open-ended, flexible, and intensive support to people who are multiply disadvantaged. As a Team Leader, you will take a person-led, holistic, and trauma-informed approach to the support of members and provide effective line management to Housing First coaches in line with Housing First principles. We take a bold approach to supporting people and the role involves empowering staff to work within a risk-aware but not risk-averse culture, to maximise safety and opportunities.

You will collaborate with colleagues and support the Housing First Manager to build relationships with key stakeholders including voluntary sector and local authority partners. You will also support the Housing First Manager to measure our impact and continuously evaluate our fidelity to the Housing First principles.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have initiative and knowledge of Housing First and Housing Led approaches and their role in systems change across homelessness services.

You’ll have the ability to lead by example, inspire and support a multi-disciplinary team working with people with complex and enduring needs.

You’ll have experience of developing external and internal partnerships to gain the most positive outcome for people using the service.

The role

Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation in child and family law, education law, community care law and asylum and immigration law. Our Migrant Children’s Project delivers outreach advice, second tier advice, policy and research work.

Part of Coram’s growing Children’s Rights Centre, CCLC is co-located with Coram Voice, the specialist provider of advocacy services for young people in and leaving the care system, in the new Queen Elizabeth II Centre at the heart of our historic campus in Bloomsbury. CCLC also has an established practice operating in Colchester.

About the role

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Solicitor specialising in education law to work within the CCLC team. In this role you will provide legal advice, assistance and representation through education and discrimination law casework. You will be passionate about delivering high quality advice and client care and be committed to children’s human rights and supporting CCLC’s aims.

Applicants for the role need to be a qualified solicitor with experience of education law casework and/or related public law practice.

Job Title – Solicitor/ Senior Solicitor (Education Law) - School Exclusions Clinic

Contract – 2-year fixed term contract

Hours – Full-time (however part-time with a minimum of 3 days a week will be considered and pay prorated accordingly)

Salary – The salary range for this role is £31,000 to £42,000 per annum, dependent on experience, PQE and for pro-bono projects the funding available.

If the post holder is conducting legal aid and/or private funded casework on top of the grant funded work, they may also benefit from eligibility for our bonus scheme.

The project entails lawyers from corporate law firms volunteering for CCLC to support children and families through the school exclusion process. In this role you will manage and supervise the provision of legal advice, assistance and representation provided by corporate volunteers. You will also manage your own case work relating to special educational needs and disabilities and discrimination law. You will be passionate about delivering high quality advice and client care and be committed to children’s human rights and supporting CCLC’s aims.
