Our client needs motivated Support Workers to encourage our young people to be the best version of themselves. Being a young person is tough, help to mentor and lead future generations.

You must be willing and able to work and travel to both of their locations in Newark.

They are looking for individuals with previous experience of working with Young People and who have an understanding the challenges young people face, childhood trauma and it's effects. If you've worked as a teaching assistant, youth worker or even volunteered with Young People, we want to hear from you. 

Their team play a critical role in advocating for our tenants. From liaising with agencies to help them access permanent accommodation to supporting them to access education or employment training Branching Out do it all. This includes advocating for them in meetings with services. 

There’s still time for fun though as you will also support and encourage activities such as football, sports and activities.

Working on a rota basis means you will need to be flexible over a 7 day rota. Our service operates 24/7, however day shifts are either 08:00 – 15:30 or 14:30 – 22:00.There will be the option to pick up nights on occasion, for which their night enhancement rates will apply. 

Change can sometimes be hard so you could face behaviours that challenge, your patient and assertive nature will make sure this doesn’t escalate and make sure there are positive outcomes consistently.

Homeless Recovery Worker

Working across Poole, Bournemouth and Christchurch

£23,775 progressing to £25,027 plus excellent benefits

Full Time (You will work on a 7-week rotation, with a mixture of early and lates between the hours of 7am - 8pm)

Our Client supports people who are homeless across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch. This is a new service that starts in June, so this is an exciting opportunity to be part of their set up and implementation of this team.

They have a new opportunity for a Homeless Recovery Worker to join them to work with people who are experiencing repeat homelessness and rough sleeping and who face multiple challenges.

This is a key role in which you will support clients and help them to progress and achieve their goals. Your positive attitude towards your work and your team will help to contribute to a great working environment.  You will have a calm and personable manner and be resilient to potentially difficult situations.

Some of your duties will include: 

• Supporting your own caseload of clients and working with them on a one to one basis out in the community and in the clients homes. 
• Identifying their needs and putting together a support plan which is equally achievable and realistic for them
• Linking with outreach workers and other agencies to build rapport and trust with clients who are homeless in preparation for them getting their own accommodation
• Working with people to identify their strengths and talents, and encourage them to focus and build on these
• Helping clients to access the benefits they are entitled to claim
• Encouraging their involvement in personal progression in the form of education, training, employment activity or volunteering
• Helping them improve their practical skills in areas such as budgeting, shopping, cooking, housework and managing a tenancy
• Working with external partners to maximise the opportunities available to clients so that they can resettle in the community.
• Gaining knowledge and understanding of the Housing First principles and how Housing First uses a client-led approach 
• Working in accordance with the Health and Safety regulations and all policies and procedures

What you will bring:

Our client has an opportunity for a Resettlement Support Worker to join their team supporting refugees to settle into the UK. 

You will help them to settle into their accommodation, access local services and reduce isolation. You will love helping others, have a listening ear and have the ability to adapt how you speak to suit your audience. You will be creative, find solutions to problems, and support refugees to feel safe in their new environment.

Some of your duties will include: 

• Implementing refugee needs assessments and risk management plans

• Supporting refugees with advice on housing and related matters

• Liaising with housing and other agencies on behalf of refugees

• Assisting with welfare benefit issues, helping source household goods via various schemes and utilising any funding available

• Supporting refugees liaising with gas & electricity suppliers and other suppliers as necessary

• Being a key contact for refugees when they are experiencing difficulty

• Working with interpreters, colleges, training agencies, employers, Job Centre plus to help the client have access to training, education, voluntary work, work experience

The hub offers a wide range of facilities, community activities and services as well as 81 beautiful extra care apartments. A temporary need has arisen for Community Centre Assistant for a period of up to 2 months initially on a part time basis (4pm - 8pm), Monday to Friday.

The role - Community Centre Assistant

As a Community Centre Assistant, you will;

• Provide operational support to the day to day running of the community centre, including health and safety and customer support.
• You will provide a professional inclusive and customer focused service to the users of the community centre.
• Ensure centres are set up correctly in advance of bookings.
• Make sure the centre is clean and well-presented.
• Ensure hirers clear away at the end of a booking and leave the room ready for next user.
• Where relevant maintain schedules and records of building maintenance, reporting maintenance or repairs issues to the relevant team.
• Carry out health and safety checks and maintain appropriate records.
• Take responsibility for opening and closing the building when directed including evenings and weekends as required.
• Inspect community centres in accordance with procedures, maintain all associated registers and records and ensure all actions identified are rectified.
• Work collaboratively with internal colleagues and teams, residents, and user groups to ensure effective, efficient and customer focused delivery of services relating to the centres.
• Ensure accurate and up to date records are kept using appropriate systems.

Who are they?  

Our client provides refuge and community based (outreach) support to adults and children who are experiencing domestic abuse. They offer their services to both women and men (dispersed only) with or without children who are fleeing domestic abuse and need a safe place to stay, and to those out in the community who are living with the impact of domestic abuse. 

The Roles 

They have multiple roles, each varying in responsibility. Please read through the descriptions and when asked on the application page specify which role you are interested in. 

Support Worker’s 

As a Support Worker, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing practical and emotional support to women and men who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse (both in the refuge and throughout the local community). You’ll work with clients to assess needs and risks and plan a package of support and risk management individual to them.  

Some of the other duties involve: 

• Assessing referrals for both community and refuge based services 

• Supporting the delivery of group work both in refuge and local community 

• Travelling throughout service delivery area to deliver support and attendance at multi-agency meetings and work in partnership with other agencies where required to advocate for their clients and ensure risk is managed and support needs are met (e.g.: social care; police; CAB; housing departments; Job Centre and Benefits agencies) 

• Working with colleagues to provide a clean and welcoming environment for all accessing our services 

• Ensuring records (computer based case management system) are kept up to date and accurate – basic IT skills and knowledge of IT systems are advantageous!

Move On Support Worker’s 

As a domestic abuse move on worker you’ll support individuals and families within our safe accommodation to transition into settled accommodation. You’ll provide a tailored, person-centred support package to help customers achieve their goals and live a life free from abuse.  

Some other duties include: 

• Prepare customers to move on from safe accommodation services and deliver support, both in groups and one-to-one, to enable them to manage their own tenancy. 

• Support customers to set up their own home, assisting them to set up utility accounts and other household obligations. 

• Provide emotional support and reassurance to survivors and their families around their move from safe refuge. 

• Working with survivors on the transition from refuge to their own property safely, engaging in robust safety planning and risk assessing and identification. 

• Provide housing management and welfare benefit support and guidance, as well as signposting and making referrals to appropriate agencies. 

• Identifying and keeping an up-to-date register of local and national grants available to survivors in furnishing/ moving to their new home Establish and maintain quality working relationships to enable multi-agency support. 

• Engage actively with safeguarding initiatives and Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) frameworks, referring clients, attending meetings, and following up on agreed actions. 

• Foster positive partnerships within the multi-agency arena, working collaboratively across operational areas and the local community to raise awareness of domestic abuse issues and available support options. 

• Working in a client-centred way to identify appropriate local and community groups that can support/ assist the survivor to integrate into their new community safely. 

• Liaise with, signpost or refer to relevant statutory and voluntary agencies, advocating for the best possible support for each survivor. 

• Undertake relevant training, ensuring continuous professional development and staying informed about the latest industry knowledge. 

• Contribute effectively to team collaboration, demonstrating a commitment to self-care within the team and the broader organization. 

Peripatetic Support Worker 

• The role of Peripatetic Support Worker is to provide comprehensive cover for accommodation and community-based services, offering practical and emotional support to survivors of domestic abuse and various forms of violence and abuse. Some other duties include: 

• Managing a diverse caseload, responding effectively to escalating and changing risk, while maintaining up-to-date casework records. 

• Facilitating tailored, high-quality case management, including the development of individual safety plans. 

• Engaging actively with safeguarding initiatives and Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC) frameworks, referring clients, attending meetings, and following up on agreed actions. 

• Foster positive partnerships within the multi-agency arena, working collaboratively across operational areas and the local community to raise awareness of domestic abuse issues and available support options.

About You 

They’re looking for someone who has the values, knowledge and skills of working within a support role supporting clients who have experienced domestic abuse and can demonstrate how they use their skills and common sense to support vulnerable individuals and families. They’ll have a commitment to maintaining the dignity and rights of the individuals and families they work with, with top notch communication skills. It is desirable if you have had experience of working within a Domestic Abuse Service.

Previous experience in a similar role is desirable, but they welcome candidates with relevant experience from other sectors or transferrable skills. 

You will work 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. There may be expectation to work some evenings up to 8pm and occasional weekends and bank holidays. 

You will be required to have flexibility to travel across Derbyshire therefore driving licence and access to a car (with business insurance) is essential 

All successful candidates will be required to take a basic numeracy and literacy exercise prior to the interview.
