We already have a strong community of swimmers and volunteers who care deeply about WeSwim. This is an exciting chance to gain a full year of hands-on experience working with a place-based funder. You will be learning how funding decisions are made and how grants are administered to create real impact in local communities. You’ll not only develop practical skills in project delivery and grant management, but also build a strong understanding of the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.
In addition to supporting grant administration, you will lead your own project from start to finish. This will involve conducting research, engaging with local organisations and sector leaders, and producing a clear, actionable plan that addresses a real need in the sector and how the Foundation can look to ease that need. You’ll have the autonomy to shape your project while receiving guidance and support from the Chief Executive and Grants and Programmes manager, giving you the perfect balance of independence and mentorship.
As part of this role, you will join the Rank Foundation’s Time to Shine Leadership Programme, a nationally recognised initiative designed to nurture future leaders in the charity sector. You’ll be part of a cohort of 55 emerging leaders across the UK, benefiting from tailored training, mentoring, and peer support. This programme will help you develop your leadership potential, grow your confidence, and prepare you for future roles within the VCSE sector.

Joining a busy and highly effective team, this role will help deliver two major programmes of work for Lingen Davies. With a primary focus on cancer awareness raising to address health inequalities (early diagnosis, cancer screening and prevention), we use a range of activities and settings to effectively engage with the public and target communities. This work is focussed in the following areas:
- Cancer Champions Project (focus on Telford). Working in partnership colleagues, along with NHS Shropshire Telford &Wrekin, and Qube, to deliver and maintain the Telford component of the project.
- LiveLife community cancer awareness programme. Our Lingen Davies community health promotion initiative, bringing cancer awareness to communities across the region.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality research that helps improve diagnosis, treatment and quality of life for people affected by coeliac disease. Working closely with internal teams, researchers and external partners, you will play a key role in managing research processes, supporting funded projects and ensuring research findings are accessible to a wide range of audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the administration and management of research funding calls, peer and lay review processes, and funded research projects.
- Provide support for internal research projects and appropriate third-party research related to coeliac disease.
- Organise and support research governance groups, including meetings, agendas and minutes.
- Search, review and summarise research publications for internal use and external communications.
- Assist with the organisation of the charity’s Research Conference and other Evidence and Policy events.
- Maintain accurate research records, databases and CRM systems in line with GDPR requirements.
About You
We’re looking for a detail-focused and proactive individual with a strong interest in research and evidence-based practice. You will ideally have:
- A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, with strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities to tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- High attention to detail and confidence working with data, reports and publications.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
