About us The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We deliver essential local services that provide safe, trusted support to children and young people during times of significant need.
Our Social Impact domain is built on shared values, diverse perspectives, and a flexible, people-first approach. We work as one team, building strong relationships across the organisation to drive meaningful change for children and young people. With trust, wellbeing, and collaboration at the heart of how we work, you'll join a culture that supports you to make a real and lasting difference, helping us move closer to our mission of improving the lives of children and young people. About the role
This role sits within our Social Impact Domain, and you'll play a key part in digital storytelling team. We're seeking a skilled and creative social media lead, confident managing an organic social media strategy. This is a rewarding and highly creative hands-on role, taking the lead on The Children's Society's social media channels. You'll have the opportunity to help shape the external profile of one of Britain's most-loved heritage children's charities.
The role comprises strategy and planning for our content and campaigns, performance analysis and reporting, and upskilling others in how to create an impact on social media.
Working closely with creative, fundraising, campaigns, volunteering and services teams, you will consult on and devise plans. You'll attend events, shoot and edit fast-turnaround vertical video for reels and shorts.
A strategic thinker, you enjoy developing content plans to meet objectives. You'll be results driven and happy to share audience-led best practice. You'll develop tactics, monitor and report on results to enhance our future performance.
You love creating social-first channel optimised content, short-form video with hooks, pace, and emotion to retain and engage. With an eye for design, you'll love creating social media content and commissioning it too.
Key skills and competencies In order to be successful in this role:
-You're proactive and you have strong time management skills, you'll prioritise, be deadline driven and able to respond to competing priorities well. You're confident to work autonomously on corporate communications with stakeholders across the team, responding to various organisational social media needs.
-Creatively, you'll be a great writer, adept at translating complex and sometimes sensitive subjects into compelling digital content. You'll also have hands on typographic design skills, in Canva or similar content creation software and social/video editing skills.
-You'll be experienced in reporting on social media performance, with the proven ability to develop clear and compelling reports using several sources of data and insight.
Social media is vital to achieving our mission; helping to change social attitudes and urging people to take action with young people, by offering their time, their money or their voice to our cause. If you're keen to advocate for improvements to young people's lives and to reflect the diversity of our work, and the young people and communities we serve, please do apply.
Closing date: Tuesday 8 SeptInterviews: Via Microsoft Teams on Monday 14th & Tuesday 15th September
