About the role

As our Global Internal Communications & Engagement Lead you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing a comprehensive global strategy for internal communications and employee engagement at WaterAid and work closely with senior leaders and key stakeholders to drive sustainable change.

In this role, you will:

• Set the strategic direction for WaterAid’s internal communications. Drive execution of this strategy to ensure staff are informed and inspired, engaged, empowered and connected to each other and the mission.
• Lead WaterAid’s federation-wide approach to employee engagement, ensuring the use of advanced technology and systems to drive, monitor and maintain WaterAid’s high levels of employee engagement.
• Oversee and lead WaterAid’s federation-wide approach to leadership communications, ensuring alignment with the Global Strategy and strategic priorities. Develop and define what leadership communication is required across the federation to foster an environment of transparency, collaboration and engagement.
• Trusted advisor and strategic internal communications business partner to key members of the Global Executive, specifically the WaterAid Chief Executives, Global Director of WaterAid international and the Executive Director, People (Global Lead for People).
• Serve as a strategic internal communications business partner on key global projects, collaborating closely with colleagues across the global federation.
• Lead on our federation-wide approach to deliver a seamless, integrated and highly positive digital employee experience.
• Ensure WaterAid leverages the most effective digital channels to create a positive employee experience, focusing on impactful communication and engagement across the global organisation.
• Act as a champion for WaterAid’s core values throughout the federation, promoting and embodying these principles to ensure that the global organisational culture authentically reflects them.
• Ensure diversity, equity and empowerment are seamlessly integrated into all internal communications and engagement activities. This includes actively promoting inclusive messaging that reflects the diverse voices and perspectives within the organisation.

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and implements emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a highly-qualified Area Programme Manager (ABA Consortium) to join our team in Mykolaiv.

About the job

The Area-Based Allocation (ABA) Consortium is designed to support local actors in Ukraine by facilitating access to quality funding and enabling them to scale up their programming without being burdened by excessive bureaucracy. The Consortium operates as a fund mechanism, incorporating a due diligence process, calls for proposals, fund disbursement, and tailored support throughout project implementation.

Under the supervision of the Chief of Party, and in close coordination with Consortium partners and DRC colleagues, the Area Programme Manager (APM) (ABA Consortium) is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the programme. This includes both managerial and technical leadership in the delivery of activities, disbursement of grants to civil society organizations (CSOs), provision of technical assistance, reporting, and oversight of monitoring and evaluation processes.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Grant Management and Compliance

• Support the Chief of Party developing the operations procedures for the fund management, vetting process, due diligence, tiers classification and allocation process.
• Ensure vetting and due diligence are implemented in a timely manner and the results inform the capacity building plans.
• Participate in the operational review of the proposals submitted by the CSOs.
• Ensure Sub Grants Agreements packages are prepared in a timely manner following the approval of the proposals.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, including narrative reporting, indicator tracking.

Project implementation oversight

• Ensure that Project Cycle Management (PCM) tools and processes are in place such as kick of meetings, workplans, budget follow up, procurement plans.
• Ensure that key procurements to be performed by DRC are initiated on time to ensure timely delivery to the Partners
• Ensure capacity assessments and capacity strengthening plans are in place within the Program team. Liaise closely with the Support Services Fund Managers to ensure that similar plans are in place for Finance, Supply Chain, HR.
• Ensure technical monitoring and regular follow up meetings happen with CSOs to monitor progress (targets timeline, expenditure) and address challenges.

People management

• Line manages the Program team of the ABA Consortium, including MEAL, Grants and Technical specialists (Shelter and Protection) including recruitment, performance management and oversignt in close coordination with technical supervisors

Representation & External Coordination

• Coordinate with the other consortium members to ensure alignment of practices and processes
• Ensure fluid, open communication between partners at all levels (technical, operational, strategic) and support resolution of disagreements or misalignments in implementation or planning.

About you:

To be successful in this role we expect you to be a strong and strategic leader with a solid background in programme oversight, and stakeholder engagement, ideally in complex humanitarian or early recovery contexts; a proven ability to manage diverse teams, foster collaboration among partners, and ensure compliance with donor requirements. We expect you to bring a deep commitment to locally led responses and have demonstrated experience in supporting and strengthening the capacity of local actors — through mentoring, technical support, or tailored accompaniment — to enable sustainable and impactful programming.

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required:

• At least 3 years of experience in managing programs in emergency and early recovery contexts
• At least 3 years of experience in team management position.
• Demonstrated experience managing Grants, MEAL and Programme/Sector departments
• Strong understanding of area-based or integrated programming, ideally in conflict-affected contexts.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and representation skills.

Desirable:

• Previous experience including hands on support to local partners through capacity development/ mentoring
• Previous experience leading Protection, Shelter and/or cash based programming
• Demonstrated experience with donor compliance, particularly ECHO, USAID or UN-led funding.
• Experience working with or coordinating Ukrainian civil society or local actors

This is a hands-on role for an experienced organiser who will lead key aspects of our community organising practice. Act Build Change is a transformative organising school that makes community organising and collective care methods accessible to everyone who wants to end injustice.

• Develop Act Build Change's transformative organising pedagogy and lead internal staff training to ensure team-wide fluency in our curriculum and approach.

• Design and deliver engaging organising training both online and in-person, adapting our curriculum for diverse audiences and needs.

• Provide on-the-ground shadowing and coaching to develop the skills of organisers and movement leaders.

Community building and partnerships

• Build strategic relationships across the organising field with practitioners, partners, and the broader social justice ecosystem.

• Lead key cohort projects, ensuring high-quality delivery and effective ground-level action.

• Lead event planning and facilitation for community-facing programmes, workshops, and strategy gatherings whilst expanding our membership base.

Team leadership

• Line manage programme staff, supporting their wellbeing, development, and performance through regular supervision and feedback.

Fundraising and sustainability

Essential experience and skills

• Professional with management experience in the charity, social justice, or non-profit sectors.

• Proven ability to support and lead organisational change, aligning team practices with strategic objectives to deliver measurable impact.

• Experience in community organising, including engaging local communities and developing impactful campaigns.

Our Commercial Team 

We have a small commercial team with big ambitions for the sector.

Currently, we hold a single commercial contract worth around £3m per year delivered through 12 libraries. Our aim is to reach a point where we have a menu of commercial contracts that all of our 176 member library services can choose to benefit from according to the skills and assets of their service, their focus and strategy and of course the needs of their communities.

In the current funding climate for local authorities and local government services, these contracts are not just about the income and the services they can provide but about demonstrating nationally the power of the library sector, and how national services can be delivered locally through library services and the communities they serve.

Our approach is to identify and secure contracts procured by national government – either directly or with partners to extend the libraries’ capabilities – with an eye to local delivery through the library services. This allows us to centrally hold and manage the risk of the national contract, leaving the library services to deliver themselves.

As an Evidence Officer, you will work on a range of behaviour change and infrastructure projects, providing monitoring, evaluation, and analytical support. About the role

A new and exciting opportunity to work with us supporting the developments of active travel and liveable spaces for communities across the West Midlands. 

As the Project Officer you will lead and support behaviour change projects across the West Midlands and Staffordshire with schools, workplaces, job seekers and communities. Engaging with a range of key individuals and delivering walking and cycling activities such as Dr Bike sessions, led walks and rides, school assemblies and community workshops. 

As part of the Active Journeys Team, you will support people to walk, wheel and cycle by promoting opportunities and help overcome barriers to active travel. Projects will include improved walking and cycling infrastructure and making it possible for every child to walk, wheel and cycle to school. 

Activities will be delivered both Online and face to face, and likely to include schools, workplaces and the diverse range of communities in the Midlands. 

This role will require travel and work at locations as necessary to undertake projects on behalf of Sustrans.

You should have experience of leading physical activity or other behaviour change projects within schools, workplaces or communities. You should also have experience of working on projects within an established project management framework.
