ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an exciting role working as part of a small but influential charity building a legacy for the late MP, Jo Cox. Following the successful third year of the national The Great Get Together (GGT) initiative of The Jo Cox Foundation (JCF) - where nearly one million people were mobilised to take part - we’re looking for an energetic, go-getting Campaigns Coordinator with proven effective project coordination experience to support the delivery of The Great Get Together 2020 and beyond.

The Campaigns Coordinator will play a key role in the delivery of The Great Get Together (GGT), the Jo Cox Foundation’s flagship community engagement initiative. Outside of the busy summer campaign period, you’ll also be working on the Great Winter Get Together, our winter loneliness-tackling campaign, as well as offering support to the Communities Manager in the development of our More in Common organiser community.

You’ll take a lead on the communications with our GGT organiser community, with a particular focus on writing fantastic, engaging copy for regular newsletter communications. You’ll also work closely with our Digital Officer to ensure that our website and digital copy is as compelling as possible, and that the toolkit resources we have available are of the highest quality.

You’ll work closely with key GGT partners to ensure we’re delivering all agreed benefits, and fully maximising our varied partnerships. As part of this, you’ll also be liaising with our headline event partners, offering vital support to ensure their events are a success.

We are a close-knit team that inspires and connects individuals, organisations, businesses to make a real difference to the causes that Jo championed. We are looking for someone with energy, passion and a clear commitment to our mission. We work hard but it’s important to us that we have fun and look after ourselves and each other too.

Key responsibilities

Comms and partnerships

  • Manage relationships with key GGT corporate, funding and charitable partners, ensuring agreed benefits are delivered, relationships are maintained and all opportunities are maximised.

  • Lead on communications with GGT organisers, especially in the writing of regular update emails.

  • Write engaging toolkit materials and web copy.

  • Liaise with headline event partners, including managing queries and building strong, supportive relationships.

Logistical management for GGT

  • Support the Campaign Director in the planning, coordination and delivery of the GGT.

  • Set up and own project management documents and processes to ensure the campaign is kept on track and delivered efficiently  and effectively.

  • Create reports and documentation for a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including JCF Board, funders and other partners.

  • Lead on outreach to MPs and other government and regional contacts as needed.

  • Lead on campaign logistics such as sourcing items for toolkits and liaising with suppliers.

  • Line manage interns and team support roles as required.

  • Undertake any other suitable tasks and projects as required.

  • Deputise for the Campaign Director as required.

Support for wider community development

  • Support the Communities Manager on the wider development of the grassroots More in Common community, in particular increasing the reach and diversity of the More in Common movement through our partnerships.

  • Lead on writing any copy or toolkits as required.

Approach to work:

  • Can-do attitude and flexible, adaptable and comfortable working in high paced environments.

  • Highly organised with strong planning and problem-solving skills

  • Professional manner, highly collaborative, able to develop good working relationships with people both internally and externally at all levels

  • Self-reliant, capable of taking the initiative and working autonomously

  • Able to set priorities, meet goals and evaluate the process and results

  • Professional manner, resilient and calm under pressure

  • Strongly held personal values aligned with The Jo Cox Foundation and reflected in your respect for others and wanting to make a positive contribution through your work.

  • Generous and supportive with a great sense of humour!

Skills and experience:

Essential

  • Project or campaign management experience in a fast-paced environment

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with experience of writing engaging and inventive copy

  • Experience of working effectively with partners, delivering agreed benefits and building and managing relationships

  • Proven experience of working with a diverse variety of stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Experience of using and managing a CRM platform such as Nationbuilder or Salesforce

The Jo Cox Foundation is committed to creating a diverse environment and is committed to promoting equal opportunities in employment. We actively encourage applications from people of all backgrounds who share our "more in common" vision, inspired by Jo Cox. Job applicants will receive equal treatment regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.
