About Finance at Hope into Action 

The Finance function of Hope Into Action is small team comprising the Finance Lead, the Finance Administrator and a volunteer reporting to the Head of Operations. It is largely paperless and supports our 42 staff with accounts payable and receivable functions. It works in conjunction with the other departments to deliver timely, accurate and strategic financial information for both the Executive Team and the Board of Trustees. 

About the role 

The Finance Lead is a key role in enabling Hope into Action fulfil its vision of every church lovingly making a home for those experiencing homelessness.

The role is broad ranging from monitoring the Finance inbox to posting transactions on our Xero accounting system and producing the monthly management accounts within our target of 10 working days from the month end 

In addition, you will support the year end work by producing the schedules required by auditors, take a lead in the annual budgeting process, produce the biannual investor statements and compile the gift aid returns. 

You will be expected to meet regularly with budget holders to help them achieve their targets and/or devise a plan to bring them back on track.

We are looking for a self-motivated person with a passion for our work, tenants, staff, churches and mission. You will be adaptable and equally comfortable with bank reconciliations as writing a commentary on the management accounts. We employ people of hope where humility, a genuine desire to love and serve others, and strength of character are as important as any job description. You will have a track record of finance experience but also be relatable; able to support staff with little or no financial experience. You should have a passion for the homeless, churches and our vision & values.

We provide not just shelter and housing know-how, but also the friendship of a church, we are passionate about harnessing the social, financial and spiritual power of churches to enact real change both in them and our tenants.

Our first home had a real heart for men coming out of prison. Homes are now available for a wide range of people experiencing homelessness: people in recovery from addiction, people sleeping rough, women and children fleeing domestic violence, people coming out of rehab, former prostitutes, refugees, those suffering mental health issues and survivors of human trafficking. 

Roughly, 50% of our homes are in our ‘line-managed cities’ (Peterborough, Norwich, Nottingham, Cambridge), the other 50% are found across a further 30+ towns which we franchise into.

Job Description

We are looking to recruit a dynamic and experienced Senior Research Manager to manage the monitoring, evaluation and learning activities of a high profile National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) portfolio of translational, clinical and applied health research infrastructure funding schemes. 

Job Purpose 
Reporting to the Assistant Director, the post holder will work closely with the rest of the infrastructure team (especially the Programme Leads and Senior Research Managers who are responsible for the development and management of the infrastructure schemes), and with Data Analytics colleagues (who are responsible for designing systems for capturing, cleaning and presenting data), to manage the infrastructure reporting and evaluation activities. At an award level, you will develop, improve and maintain monitoring and reporting processes, and at a scheme level, you will implement monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches, including overseeing the delivery and/or commissioning of impact evaluations. You will support a wider programme around visibility and the strategic use of data within infrastructure, considering links to policy directives around Busting Bureaucracy, the developing NIHR digital strategy and system operability issues with NHS and University systems. 

You will be adept at dealing with an array of data sources (metrics, narrative and financial reporting information), have a good understanding of research impact, an understanding of the routes to achieving it, and how to apply monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches to generate insight that can evidence impact and support continuous improvement of scheme funding and support processes. You will have experience of managing complex projects, knowledge of the UK’s research environment and political agenda, and honed skills in stakeholder management. You will be a strategic thinker, capable of seeing the issues and solutions from a number of different stakeholder perspectives to see the bigger picture. You will be comfortable dealing with complexity and developing an approach to balance the needs of different stakeholders. You will be a team player, able to work in close partnership with a number of teams at NIHR and the DHSC.

Key Accountabilities:

• Manage elements of the infrastructure monitoring processes: you will manage parts of the infrastructure reporting process both internally at the technical systems level and externally with users to support training and propose improvements. You will work with others to develop new reporting processes (for new awards), maintain existing annual and quarterly reporting, support the review of submitted reports by the team and the production of feedback, and drive process improvements through a continuous improvement cycle.

• Development of reporting outputs: support quantitative and qualitative data interrogation in projects across the infrastructure. Interrogating data to support strategic reviews, and, where feasible and appropriate, designing visual dashboards of progress using data collected and collated for reporting purposes. Also draw on award level reported data to feed into strategic scheme level evaluations and reviews, to produce impact case studies, and to feed into organisational level learning and reporting. This work will help articulate the contribution of the NIHR infrastructure to the wider health and social care system as well as feeding into broader NIHR initiatives such as the NIHR Impact Programme.

• Scheme reviews: support the delivery of scheme mid-term reviews and evaluations, working closely with the infrastructure team’s Senior Research Managers responsible for specific schemes and the central Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team to design and plan an appropriate review process for individual schemes.

• Stakeholder engagement: through appropriate stakeholder engagement, developing a sound understanding of data needs, minimising additional requirements of key stakeholders and understanding the types of reporting outputs/feedback that would provide the greatest utility for accountability and learning purposes. Proactively share key learnings across the infrastructure team and with wider stakeholder groups as appropriate.

• Flexible support to the team:  flexible approach to work tasks with ability to ‘muck in’ and provide support on additional tasks across the team during busy times.

Line Management:

• The post holder will be responsible for the line management of one Research Manager and will matrix manage other team members, where appropriate.

Qualifications

Experience and Technical Skills

Required Criteria: 

• A PhD degree in biomedical or health sciences research (or significant equivalent sector experience)
• Experience of implementation or management of monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches including impact assessment and reporting, ideally within health and care research
• Data collection, collation and analysis skills using both qualitative and quantitative methodologies
• Current knowledge of the UK’s health and care research and policy landscape
• Strategic thinker able to interpret complex information while having a clear view of the “big picture”
• Solutions orientated with evidence of delivering projects, requiring evidence synthesis, report writing and developing implementable recommendations

Desirable Criteria:

• Specialist training/knowledge in monitoring, evaluation and learning approaches and methods
• Experience of authoring high quality impact reports and case study reports for a variety of technical and general audiences
• Experience of developing electronic dashboards using visualisation tools such as Qlik Sense, Looker Studio or equivalents
• Line management and staff development experience

In this role you will be designing and managing organising drives/campaigns under the direction of the Head of Organising. This means working with key RCN stakeholders to coordinate all aspects of the assigned organising drives/campaign including strategy, timeline, communication and other aspects needing to be considered.

We’re looking for someone who will lead by example and be out in workplaces, with a small team of organisers, working directly with members. Whether you’re a trade union organiser or community organiser, we’re looking for someone who understands strategy, who will work hard to raise the voice of nursing and who can support an internal cultural shift into the Organising Approach.

Barnabas International is a large family of Christian ministries and charities focused on

giving practical support to suffering, abandoned and persecuted Christians around the

world. The ministry was founded in 1993, and since then, it has funded projects in more

Some of our key projects include supplying food aid, medical supplies, educational and

Overview of the Regional Coordinator role and the team

The Regional Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the mission of Barnabas Aid by

building and nurturing relationships with churches, Christian organisations, and

individuals. The role aims to raise awareness, prayer, and financial support for the

persecuted church, fostering a network of engaged supporters and expanding the

organisation’s outreach.

Main duties and responsibilities

Strategy Implementation and Reporting:o Develop and execute regional outreach strategies aligned with organisational

Prayer Mobilisation:

We’re looking for a high performing, creative and driven Digital Manager to work in our communications and marketing department on a temporary basis, to drive all areas of Family Fund’s digital work.  You’ll develop digital strategies and campaigns that improve conversion with our key audiences, raise vital income and boost brand profile.  You’ll also provide expert advice on the evolution of our digital channels and communications, to ensure we keep pace with fast-changing digital developments. 

The person we’re looking for 

To be considered for this role you’ll need to evidence significant experience managing and improving the performance of digital channels (including social media, e-marketing and websites) using analytics to inform decision-making. You should have specialist knowledge of digital across a range of techniques and have experience in managing paid-for digital advertising budgets and campaigns. With experience using Content Management Systems (CMS) and of platform analytics tools including Google Analytics, Facebook and X, you should have a sound understanding of an integrated approach to digital marketing and knowledge of data protection best practice and legislation.

A confident communicator with strong analytical, literacy and numeracy skills, you’ll be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a wider team. Launched in the summer of 2019 on a 2,000-acre estate in Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons), Wales, the Penpont Project is the largest intergenerational nature restoration project of its kind anywhere in the world. Initiated by Action for Conservation, the Penpont Estate, Tirmawr Farm, and a Youth Leadership Group of 12-18 year olds from diverse backgrounds, the project aims to restore nature and culture in this special place and demonstrate how youth leadership and ambition can advance nature’s recovery at a time of acute ecological crisis.

We are looking for a Learning & Engagement Coordinator to join our flagship Penpont Project, empowering young people and intergenerational communities to connect with, feel inspired by and take action for nature. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of a unique and innovative project, maximising positive outcomes for young people and the environment.

Start date: around 22 September, exact date to be agreed
Contract: Part-time, fixed-term for 12 months, with possibility to extend duration and/or increase working hours when additional funding is secured
Starting salary: £16,872.76 - £17,590.75 (equivalent to £28,121.27 - £29,317.92 FTE) depending on experience
Working hours: 21 hours / 3 days per week. This role requires evening and weekend work, including regular residential/overnight stays (6-10 times per year). Time off in lieu (TOIL) can be taken for overtime work.
Location: Penpont, Brecon (Wales). This role requires regular travel within the local region as well as some national travel for team events.

About the role

As Learning & Engagement Coordinator, you will support the successful delivery and ongoing development of our learning and engagement work as part of the Penpont Project, playing an active role in empowering young people and intergenerational communities to connect with, feel inspired by and take action for nature. You will proactively engage the Penpont Project’s Youth Leadership Group, school and youth groups, local community members and other stakeholders, and will help to design, organise and run a wide variety of events and activities for them to take part in. These will include both day visits and residential stays (including at our brand new Forest Camp site) as well as online sessions. You will also support our Youth Rangers programme and similar professional development opportunities. In doing so, you will play a vital role in strengthening our flagship intergenerational approach to nature restoration and maximising positive outcomes for young people and the planet. 

In your day-to-day, you will work closely with our  Penpont Learning & Engagement Manager as well as with our Land-based Projects and Policy Lead, Penpont Project Manager and Technical Lead and with our project partners, the Penpont Estate and Tirmawr Farm, to make sure our learning and engagement activities are aligned with wider project work and actions happening on the land.

To succeed in this role, you will be a highly organised, creative, flexible and self-motivated project coordinator who thrives in a varied and dynamic work environment. You will also be an inspiring communicator and skilled facilitator who can engage and build relationships with a wider range of stakeholders and communities, especially young people.

Key responsibilities:

• Engage young people and the wider community around Penpont to take part in our learning and engagement programme and wider activities on site.
• Facilitate the activity of the Penpont Youth Leadership Group during and outside of residential visits to Penpont and ensure young people are equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence ot engage fully with the project.
• Support the planning, coordination and delivery of a bespoke learning programme for school/youth groups that inspires and empowers young people to connect with and act for nature and aligns with actions happening on the land.
• Support the planning, coordination and delivery of regular community action days at Penpont, engaging local community members and supporting them to undertake practical nature restoration work in line with the project's action plan.
• Support the planning, coordination and delivery of events bringing together intergenerational stakeholders to collectively design a future vision for people and nature at Penpont and the wider Upper Usk catchment area.
• Support the running of the Penpont Youth Rangers programme and help to oversee the Rangers' day-to-day activities.
• Support monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) activities at Penpont to understand the impact of the project and facilitate learnings.

What we are looking for

• Experience of working with young people, ideally aged 12-18, with proven ability to engage, motivate and support young people from diverse backgrounds
• Strong environmental knowledge and practical skills
• Great facilitation skills with a track record of facilitating stimulating, interactive and inclusive group activities both in-person and online, including practical activities in an outdoor setting
• Experience of organising and running community and/or educational events from start to finish, including liaising with partners and participants, managing logistics, safeguarding and health and safety
• Excellent organisational and time management skills and ability to plan ahead, work across multiple tasks and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
• A positive, proactive and self-reliant approach to work and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills and ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, partners, young people and other stakeholders
• Good IT skills
• Willingness to work outside of usual office hours and to travel regionally to meet the needs of the project

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To provide excellent support to the Head of Operations having full regard to the charity’s objectives and priorities at all times, meeting or exceeding the Charities legal, ethical and moral standards. Developing and leading on the delivery of existing fundraising events as well as developing and delivering future events (which will include overnight stays) Build high value relationships with members and donors, for a wide range of audiences and media, supporting communications and marketing activities, working closely with colleagues across the organisation.

A good telephone manner is essential, together with excellent literacy, verbal analytical and IT skills, coupled with the ability to work to tight deadlines, often under pressure. To be able to show initiative and a ‘can do’ attitude at all times

**  The Fundraising and Events team are very busy and flexibility is required at busy times throughout the year.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Fundraising

 i.      Work collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders to capture and understand requirements, identify new opportunities or build on existing activity to help achieve income targets.

ii.       To data input and maintain events in line with current practices.

iii.       To help find volunteers to attend events.

iv.        To send out and organise fundraising merchandise and materials for Cinnamon Trust and volunteer events.

v.         Handle general telephone and personal enquiries regarding fundraising and events.

vi.        Undertake any other reasonable and related tasks, as required by the Marketing and Fundraising team .

vii         Have a good working knowledge of charity legislation and work to the Institute of Fundraising Codes of Practice and Fundraising Standards.

vii.         To liaise with, and assist other members of the fundraising team.

Events

i.            To be available to attend major events for The Cinnamon Trust, making sure that all holidays are worked round our events diary.

ii.             To drive The Cinnamon Trust van and trailer to events.

iii.             To promote The Trust at events and always present a positive and professional image.

iv.             To make sure the appearance of the stand is always presentable.

v.              To manage volunteers at an event and give a briefing at the beginning of the day regarding objectives.

vi              To seek any permissions required for an event and complete risk assessments required.

vii              To make sure that furniture and other equipment is available at each event.

viii              To make sure all materials for an event are event appropriate (eg: could be a volunteer driven event or PP)  and well stocked.

ix                  To account for stock and merchandise for each event and fill out request forms that will be logged against each event.

x.                  To make sure that any cash taken at an event is kept safe.

xi.                 To liaise with the PR and Marketing department regarding events and to supply photos and copy for their use. To work with the PR and Marketing team regarding fundraising campaigns and promotions.
