Role Description

You would be responsible for:

• ensuring that gifts left to Animal Aid in wills are handled efficiently and sensitively, liaising with solicitors and executors to ensure income is received promptly and correctly recorded
• growing our legacy giving programme by building relationships with supporters who are considering leaving a gift in their will and overseeing legacy marketing campaigns, working with colleagues
• reporting on legacy income and forecasts to feed into our future strategy
• working with the fundraising team on department tasks

Ideally, you would have experience with legacy fundraising, but we are open to experienced fundraisers who are looking to move into legacy giving. Training will be given.

You must be committed to the objectives of the organisation and be in tune with Animal Aid’s ethical, vegan stance and outlook.

About the role:

This is a home based role that will include travel across England and Wales when delivering training. You will be working within a specific project that delivers learning externally to other organisations outside of VS. Your primary goal will be to design and deliver high quality learning interventions based on what our customers need.

As an External Trainer you will:

• Manage, coordinate and deliver professional, engaging and interactive training sessions to external clients using a range of facilitation methods, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed training objectives, materials and quality standards.
• Lead on the design and development of bespoke learning content to meet client needs and support strategic goals.
• Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, developing and maintaining close relationships with external clients.
• Responsible for managing delegates, dealing with any issues that arise throughout the learning session. Ensure that all nationally directed learning is delivered in line with the approved materials and standards.
• Lead on the continuous improvement of training, using assessments and feedback to make recommendations for amendments. Review and update training content regularly to ensure relevance and effectiveness.

You will need:

• Experience of delivering training programmes using a variety of different methods e.g. face to face, virtual and one to one, managing delegates and issues that may arise
• Experience of designing and delivering training for adult learners, ideally within a commercial or client-facing environment
• Experience of delivering soft skills training and experiential learning activities
• Ability to develop a range of learning and development solutions that meet client priorities
• Experience of planning courses and evaluating outcomes
• A driving licence as this role does require frequent travel across England and Wales

The Organisation

Action on Disability (AoD), founded in 1979, is one of London’s leading Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs). As we believe in the Social Model of Disability, our values and principles embrace inclusive and accessible ways of working, seeking co-production and co-design from our Disabled members, encouraging and respecting diversity. AoD is a medium sized charity with a Board of Trustees, 27 staff, a strong pool of casual staff and volunteers, including many with lived experience of disability – all of whom are passionate about removing the barriers faced by Disabled people.

Action on Disability provides four key services: Youth, Employment, Welfare Benefits, and Independent Living.

The Project

Our Place is a project that is facilitated and managed by AoD. It is a 3-year National Lottery Community fund and Propel London funded project that will sit within our Independent Living Service. Our Place creates a community space and resource hub that Disabled people can call their own – led by them and facilitated by AoD staff. This service will be genuinely embedded in the local area, meeting needs expressed by local Disabled people to have their own place, and building links with amenities, businesses, and event spaces in Hammersmith and Fulham.

We want to enable businesses to feel more confident to welcome Disabled people and remove barriers. We want to create an inclusive and accessible space for Disabled people to socialise, build skills, pursue interests, and develop peer relationships.

Our Place operates alongside, and enhances, our current service provision. Central to this is ensuring that Disabled people have meaningful ownership over the space, from Steering Board input to operational delivery.

Disabled people will achieve their potential through four outcomes:

• Increased confidence, knowledge, and skills through opportunities to lead, learn and do new things.
• Reduced isolation and improved mental well-being through a place to socialise.
• Equity of access and participation in the local community.
• Mitigation of the pandemic’s impact, through building new opportunities.

The Post

We are looking for a full time Project delivery support officer with a commitment to the vision of AoD to promote Independent Living, Peer Support and Co-production within this project. You will have strong community project delivery, administration and support skills, good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to support the project and work effectively as part of a team. Your working hours will be dependent on the Our Place project activity schedule and may include early evening and weekend work.

1. An understanding, commitment and positive attitude toward Disability and experience of working for and with Disabled people.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist in the administration of UK and international legacy gifts, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time, from notification to final distribution.

The post holder will be working with socially isolated individuals to identify meaningfully enriching opportunities to reduce feelings of loneliness, some of whom may have complex and challenging welfare needs, to develop actions plans and coordinate support to overcome any barriers preventing successful connection into these enriching opportunities, assisting them by identifying appropriate support from within the RAF Benevolent Fund and the wider statutory and military charity sector.

The successful candidate will have experience of working in a social welfare role supporting individuals, have strong people and relationship-building skills, as well as empathy with or understanding of the issues affecting the Armed Forces community. Individuals with a social prescribing or working aged veteran support background are encouraged to apply.

This is a community-based position working from home but covering the South Wales region, delivering both remote and face to face support. We’re looking for a skilled and confident Team Leader to join our Suicide Prevention and Support Services team. You will be responsible for the overall development and delivery of West Central London Mind’s SPS Services, maintaining relationships and developing services and business across all boroughs. A full, enhanced and current satisfactory DBS disclosure is essential for the role.
 
You will:

• Lead, Manage and Develop West Central London Mind’s Suicide Prevention and Support Services and Wellbeing and Finance Empowerment Resources (WAFER)
• Develop and maintain excellent partnership working relationships with a wide range of statutory and voluntary sector organisations across SWL and NWL, including mental health and bereavement services
• Lead and manage the SPSS Services for our service users, providing wrap around support
• Manage the SPSS team, WAFER Team and its service delivery through effective delegation and management controls
• Effectively manage budgets for SPSS, WAFER Services, ensuring adherence to set budgets, costs management, and working towards any agreed budget related target efficiencies as part of wider organisational strategy
• Provide appropriate structures, measures and monitoring of the service’s activities to ensure all service staff perform at an optimal level

A part-time role developing, curating, delivering and finessing training for two distinct audiences – training for those who have low digital confidence, as well as young people, in how to use digital devices effectively and efficiently; and also training for those who may come into contact with, or wish to learn about, digital poverty, including staff of corporates and community providers. 

The former audience – learning about digital skills – will need to gain knowledge and understanding about the foundational elements of using laptops, tablets and smartphones.  This includes Essential Digital Skills such as setting passwords, connecting to Wi-Fi and using keyboards, as well as soft skills such as staying safe online, critical thinking and recognising fake news or AI generated imagery.

The latter audience – learning about digital poverty – will need to learn about the causes and impacts of digital poverty, what impact digital exclusion has on families and communities, and how to understand if someone is digitally included.

There may be other training requirements as well – such as training external users of our systems, training corporate volunteers, or a train-the-train model of supporting young people to work with those in their communities.

Key responsibilities

• Work with CEO and SMT to gain a strong understanding of the content we wish to deliver.
• Design a range of standardised training materials, developing curriculum plans, which are able to be tailored easily for cohorts.
• Work with the Head of Development to ensure training meets the needs of potential partners.
• Work with delivery and project officers to understand training requirements as they relate to specific programmatic requirements.
• Deliver training as the lead trainer for the charity, usually in person but sometimes online.
• Work with partner organisations to build strong relationships, especially when working with corporate volunteers.
• Create and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness of the training, gather feedback and finesse the training models you have created.
• Be able to run a train the trainer model for corporate volunteers, other staff, and young people on specific programmes, briefing them and ensuring consistency and quality.
• Work with the Head of External Affairs to produce high quality materials, including presentations, leaflets and other resources.
• Support marketing, project management, contract management and other functions delivered by other team members.
• Provide accurate reporting on the basis of feedback, participation and other indicators of current success.
• Take a self-sufficient approach to logistical management, whilst also working with colleagues where duties overlap.
• Keep up to date on developments in digital skills, maintaining subject matter knowledge.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the digital poverty landscape, including across policy, research and interventions, to inform training delivery.
• Work with colleagues to role model best practice in training.

The role is remote based - the whole team works from home - but you will need to be able to regularly travel across the UK including potential overnight stays and evening working.  You must feel comfortable being the person who sets up at a training event, and have a hands-on approach.  (The costs of travel are, of course, covered.)
