As Senior Special Events Manager, you’ll oversee a portfolio of prestigious events, working closely with volunteer committees, corporate partners, and internal stakeholders. You’ll bring creative flair, strategic thinking, and flawless attention to detail to ensure every event exceeds expectations and meets ambitious income goals.

You’ll also lead on identifying new opportunities for growth, drive innovation within the events programme, and manage a Special Events Executive, offering mentorship and development as part of your leadership.

As a Senior Special Events Manager you will:

• Project manage and deliver large scale, high-value fundraising events from concept to execution
• Build and nurture relationships with senior volunteers, supporters, and corporate partners
• Develop compelling event concepts, sponsorship proposals, and supporter materials
• Lead on budget management, ensuring events are delivered on time and within financial targets
• Mentor and manage a Special Events Executive, fostering professional growth and team collaboration

To be successful, you must have experience:

• extensive experience managing complex, large scale events

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Programme Development Manager represents an evolution from our Programme Manager role, focusing on shaping the future direction of The Avenues Youth Project's programmes whilst maintaining oversight of current delivery. This isn't just about managing what we do now, it's about looking ahead and designing what comes next.

Working closely with the Programme Director, you will be responsible for researching innovative approaches to youth work, developing funding proposals, and creating programmes that respond to the changing needs of young people aged 8-19. We need someone who can think creatively about engagement whilst keeping an eye on emerging trends and opportunities in the sector.

As a member of the senior team, you'll help embed our values throughout the organisation and ensure our programmes remain at the cutting edge of youth work practice.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Programme Innovation and Strategic Development

Programme Design and Innovation

● Research and develop innovative programme concepts that address emerging needs of young people within the community, utilising best practice from across the youth work sector.

● Lead comprehensive design processes for new initiatives, collaborating with lead youth workers, young people, families and community partners to ensure programmes are relevant and effective.

● Create detailed programme frameworks incorporating learning outcomes, delivery models, resource requirements and sustainability strategies.

● Plan, develop and deliver allocated youth work projects that meet organisational aims, taking responsibility for budgeting, planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation.

Current Programme Oversight

● Collaborate in overseeing the recruitment, retention and progress of young people across assigned programmes, working to ensure consistent engagement and positive outcomes.

● Participate in necessary working groups and initiatives on behalf of the team, liaising with a wide range of youth service providers to ensure AYP is represented in appropriate forums and relevant partnerships.

Community Partnerships and External Relations

Strategic Relationship Building

● Establish and maintain strategic relationships with schools, colleges, community organisations, local authorities and other youth providers to develop collaborative networks.

● Represent AYP at community forums, working groups and sector events, maintaining awareness of local priorities and identifying partnership opportunities.

● Develop collaborative programmes with partner organisations, combining resources and expertise to maximise impact.

● Engage with families and community members to understand their aspirations for young people.

Programme Partnerships

· Support the Programme Director in developing and maintaining key relationships and partnerships.

· Establish positive working relationships with external agencies delivering youth work with us and those supporting organisational development.

· Work with the Engagement, Communities and Culture Manager, to develop and maintain effective long-term community partnerships to boost membership at AYP.

Research, Evaluation and Quality Assurance

Evidence-Based Development

● Maintain current knowledge of research and best practice in youth work, particularly relating to our target demographics.

● Commission or conduct research projects to inform programme development decisions and enhance service delivery.

● Collaborate with the Impact and Evaluation Manager, to analyse data from existing programmes to identify effective practices and areas requiring improvement.

● Collaborate with the Impact and Evaluation Manager to establish robust evaluation frameworks for new programmes.

● Work with the Impact and Evaluation Manager to understand and articulate funder objectives throughout programme design and delivery.

Quality Standards and Continuous Improvement

● Develop quality standards and frameworks for all programmes, ensuring alignment with organisational values.

● Collaborate with the HR Manager to create comprehensive training materials and guidance documentation for staff delivering new programmes.

● Monitor programme quality through systematic observation, feed \back collection and data analysis.

● Lead programme effectiveness reviews and provide recommendations for improvement.

● Liaise with external quality assurance bodies, inspectors, and regulatory authorities as required.

Staff Leadership and Development

● Line Management of Programme Operations Manager and Lead Youth Workers - including regular observations, formal supervisions, annual appraisals, and investing in their professional development.

● Attend Line Managers training and regular sessions with HR Manager.

● Deliver reflective practice sessions to the youth work team to support continuous professional development as part of our Learning and Development plan, in collaboration with HR Manager.

● Assist in recruiting or contracting new workers, tutors or teachers as required.

Funding and Financial

Strategic Funding Development

● Collaborate with the Fundraising Manager to identify funding opportunities that support programme development priorities and organisational objectives.

● Contribute to funding applications for new programme areas, ensuring proposals demonstrate clear impact potential and realistic delivery plans.

● Develop comprehensive business cases for programme expansion, including cost-benefit analysis and risk assessment.

● Monitor funding environments and policy developments that may influence programme design.

Financial Administration

● Work with the Finance Controller to ensure high-level financial administration and record keeping, with accountability for project expenditure.

● Maintain clear understanding of AYP's programme budgets and finances, with responsibility for budgeting, monitoring and reporting of assigned budgets.

● Participate in regular budget meetings with the Programme Director and work with the Finance Controller to ensure costs remain within budget.

● Check and approve Lead Youth Workers timesheets for allocated budgets and resolve discrepancies.

Safeguarding and Compliance

● Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead and carry out responsibilities in strict accordance with AYP's Safeguarding Policy,

● Work with TACs, PRUs, Police, Early Help Teams, MARFS, LADO etc. where required to ensure safety of all young people, staff and volunteers,

● Act as main point of contact for safeguarding referrals, working in partnership with other agencies to ensure safety and wellbeing,

● Maintain comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding practices and current legislation.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 

· In conjunction with your Line Manager to continuously develop the role to ensure that all tasks are being undertaken in an effective and appropriate manner which meets the strategic aims and objectives of The Avenues. 

· Participate in internal/external meetings as required, and attend training events, conferences, and other functions as necessary. 

· Participate in regular supervision and annual appraisal and help in identifying your own job-related development and training needs. 

· Adhere to all The Avenues’ policies and procedures. 

· Stay abreast of policy and developments in youth work locally and nationally.

· Always undertake your role in a professional manner maintaining a high-quality standard of work and in accordance with our values and role model our Behaviours Framework.

Since the charity’s origins, Caring in Bristol has been powered by the input of hundreds of grass roots volunteers from around Bristol. People give their time and expertise to all our services in different ways, ranging from casual volunteering shifts to long term in-depth consultation about our work in their communities. This role will work across the organisation to build, strengthen, and sustain a strong team of volunteers and community participants to support our strategic priorities. 

The postholder will be responsible for leading on all aspects of our volunteering and community participation programme, including developing and implementing policies and procedures, managing the assigned budget, as well as recruitment, induction, training, support, engagement and retention of volunteers.

Our Volunteers 

We utilise volunteers and community participants across all areas of our work to support and enrich the work we deliver. It is important to understand the different sets of volunteers we work with: 

Winter – over 400 volunteers come together each winter to run our Caring at Christmas day centre and distribute food deliveries across the city. Caring at Christmas has a legacy of over 30 years and relies on a range of volunteers from highly experienced to completely new to the organisation. Additionally, during particularly cold weather, Caring in Bristol volunteers support emergency shelters in the evenings and mornings. 

Food clubs – a small but committed set of volunteers help deliver our Bristol Goods food support programme. We have a fantastic set of regular volunteers at our Hartcliffe and city-centre food clubs with plans for a new location soon. 

Youth services –our accommodation project launched in July 2024, providing four bedrooms for 18-25 year olds each night. Our youth team also run group sessions throughout the week. Volunteers are needed to provide invaluable support to these activities to ensure the young people feel welcome and comfortable. 

Co-Production and Consultation Participants – our committed group of community members are essential to shaping the way we work, taking their housing knowledge out in the wider community. They are often used as a focus group for housing/policy consultations, supported by our Outreach Worker. This work is established in South Bristol, and we are developing a similar group in North Bristol. 

Community Advocates – This is an exciting area of work we wish to develop and grow over the next year; training up community members on Housing Rights and routes for support, empowering them to share this knowledge, signposting those in need of support so to prevent homelessness. 

Fundraising & Office Volunteers – we often have tasks that volunteers can help with which help the “back office” of the charity. This could include helping to organise events, fundraising activities, stuffing mailing envelopes, stocktaking our food store or offering specialist skills /advice. 

Person Specification 

We expect you to meet most of these criteria. However, we don’t expect you to meet every point and welcome applicants with transferable skills and an ability to apply themselves in a new context. 

• Experience of recruitment or marketing opportunities in the charity sector 

• Experience of leading and motivating a team of volunteers 

• Understanding of co-production approaches and a demonstrable commitment to empowering community members

• Demonstrable knowledge of the motivations for volunteering and the different needs or requirements that volunteers may have

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Programme Operations Manager is responsible for the operational delivery of our programmes being delivered to young people aged 8-19. This role ensures consistent, high-quality service provision through effective team leadership and comprehensive oversight of programme activities.

Key responsibilities include direct management of the youth work team and supervision of programme implementation to maintain service standards aligned with organisational values. The postholder ensures operational effectiveness through resource allocation, staff support, and robust quality assurance processes.

Working alongside the Programme Development Manager, this position translates organisational objectives into practical programme delivery through systematic implementation and monitoring. The role involves providing youth workers with appropriate resources and professional support to achieve optimal outcomes for young people.

The Programme Operations Manager contributes to organisational decision-making whilst maintaining hands-on programme management. This balance ensures service delivery meets established standards and regulatory requirements.

The position demands proven leadership capabilities, operational expertise, and commitment to youth development principles within our structured framework.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Quality Assurance and Standards Management

· Support the Programme Development Manager to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive quality assurance frameworks for all youth programmes, ensuring consistent delivery of high standards across all activities.

· Establish quality indicators and performance metrics for programme delivery, conducting regular monitoring and evaluation to ensure continuous improvement.

· Design and implement quality audit procedures, conducting systematic reviews of programme delivery, facilities, and resource utilisation.

Programme Operations and Delivery Oversight

● Oversee day-to-day operational delivery of all youth programmes, ensuring smooth running of activities and services.

● Collaborate with the Engagement, Communities and Culture Manager to monitor programme attendance, engagement levels, and participant outcomes, implementing strategies to maximise positive impact.

● Collaborate with the Programme Development Manager to ensure all programmes operate within approved budgets, monitoring expenditure and resource utilisation.

● Coordinate programme scheduling, space allocation, and resource distribution to maximise efficiency and participant experience.

● Implement risk management procedures for all programme activities, always ensuring health and safety compliance.

● Collaborate with the Programme Development Manager to oversee marketing and recruitment activities for programmes, working with relevant teams to ensure optimal participation levels.

Safeguarding and Compliance

● Ensure that full compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to.

● Implement comprehensive safeguarding training for all team members, maintaining records and ensuring regular updates.

● Manage safeguarding incidents and concerns.  In the absence of the Designated Safeguarding Leads liaise with external agencies including social services, police, and other statutory bodies.

● Monitor and maintain health and safety standards across all programme areas, conducting regular risk assessments and safety audits.

● Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, including data protection, health and safety, and equality requirements.

Data Management and Reporting

● Oversee collection, analysis, and reporting of programme data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with funder requirements.

● Contribute to the preparation of regular reports for leadership team, funders, and external stakeholders on programme performance and quality indicators.

● Maintain comprehensive records of all programme activities, participant outcomes, and quality assurance measures.

● Implement feedback mechanisms for participants, parents, and stakeholders, using insights to drive continuous improvement.

Partnership and Stakeholder Management

● Develop and maintain relationships with local schools, community organisations, and partner agencies.

● Represent the organisation at multi-agency meetings and sector networks, promoting collaborative approaches to youth work, as required.

● Coordinate with external providers delivering services within AYP premises, ensuring quality standards are maintained.

● Build positive relationships with parents and carers, maintaining regular communication about programme delivery and young people's progress.

ABOUT YOU 

● A Level 3 or above Youth Work Qualification is desirable, or experience equivalent. 

● Minimum 3 years frontline youth work experience with 8-19 year olds

● Demonstrate significant project management experience.

The Advice Service is dedicated to enhancing income, alleviating poverty, and ensuring secure housing for community members throughout London. Our goal is to empower individuals by facilitating access to appropriate support through a strength-based and person-centered approach. We offer accredited information and advice on welfare benefits and housing, as well as assistance in obtaining grants.

As an integral part of the London Irish Centre's Community services, the Advice Service collaborates with our Support Service, Legal Advocate (benefit appeals), Community Programmes (responsible for events and activities), and our specialized Survivor Integrated Service. Together, we strive to deliver community-led and best-practice support.

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and knowledgeable Advice Worker to join our committed team. In this role, you will work directly with clients to deliver accredited advice and practical guidance, helping them navigate complex systems and secure the support they need. Your role is to manage a range of Central Services for the Eikon Charity and to be a familiar constant presence in the Eikon offices. Central Services includes IT, Data Compliance, Health and Safety, Facilities. Facilities includes the site at Fullbrook and the associated site maintenance of the cabins and the garden. In addition to this you will line manage the reception function on site. A portion of the role will be managing outsourced providers who are accountable to support the specialist nature of these services. These outsource providers include Health and Safety (Croner) IT (ramsac) Data Protection (Satswana). You will also support the service data management work, this involves monthly reporting and service data provision, in accordance with the reporting calendar.

Responsibilities 

IT Management

• Manage the operational IT delivery via Eikon’s IT partner (ramsac) 
• Manage the continuous improvement of the IT infrastructure
• Oversee and direct the work and tasks of the data officer (IT support)
• Attend quarterly management meetings with outsourced IT provider including technical IT consultant visits
• Oversee Help Desk approvals
• Review monthly total IT estate in partnership with ramsac and Data Officer
• IT hardware, software and comms:
• Manage the relationship with repair partner (one touch) and disposal partner (CPR)
• Manage the procurement processes for hardware, the installation and allocation of hardware (e.g. printers, AV equipment, laptop, mobile devices, wifi infrastructure etc.) with the support of the Data Officer
• Manage the communications licenses with our comms partner (DRC) 
• Oversee the MS license estate and allocation of MS software and our third party applications
• Contribute to planning and assist with the delivery of the IT roadmap

Data Protection and Management 

• Manage data compliance in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations (GDPR), with support from the fractional data protection provider, Satswana
• Manage the relationship with Satswana (outsourced Data Protection Officer)
• Ensure Data Protection Impact Assessments are in place across the organisation
• Recording and reporting of routine data breaches, escalating if significant breach has occurred

Data Reporting (Services)

• Support with the provision of data to help monitor and evaluate all services in line with ambitions 
• Collaborate with line manage on bespoke data requests
• Support the organisation in ensuring data integrity of reports 
• Manage the monthly reporting templates (Mindworks outputs, Data Protection Impact Assessments, Internal outputs and Internal outcomes)
• Manage the quarterly reporting templates (Mindworks outcomes, Innovations Grant, Youth Support Practitioners end of term reporting, Fundraising Strategic reports, data for exec report and data for bespoke reporting requests)

Fire, Health and Safety

• Responsible for fire, health and safety management and standards across the whole organisation, supported by a specialist organisation (Croner)
• Responsible for managing the Health and Safety relationships with the outsourced provider (Croner) 
• Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:
  •  Fire, Health and Safety Policy
  • Ensuring Fire Health and safety procedures in place for the Fullbrook site
  • Monitoring and where possible ensure the organisation is implementing the relevant policies, procedures and associated forms across the organisation for Fire, Health and Safety
  • Raising Fire, Health and Safety risks and working collaboratively with Leadership to put in place measures to mitigate against them

Facilities

• Manage the facilities at Fullbrook, including the provision of reception roles and responsibilities, office and garden maintenance and support to onsite teams, interior and exterior décor – including noticeboards 
• This includes line management of your team and dotted line supervision for garden club volunteers for garden maintenance; this includes managing the relationship with the gardening contractor
• Overseeing annual compliance checks. e.g Pat Testing; Smoke alarms; air conditioning units
• Managing the relationship with the outsourced cleaning contractor (Minster Cleaning Services)
• Responsible for reception cover. From time to time it may be necessary for you to support in filling gaps in reception cover. i.e. sickness/holidays/absence

About The Role

St Mungo’ s Hackney Move On service provides semi-independent accommodation consisting of 39 bed spaces split between 7 shared properties to people exiting short stay/long term hostel/supported housing provisions in preparation for independent general needs accommodation. Clients accessing our services have all experienced homelessness, may be in recovery for substance or alcohol use or an addressed mental health need or are currently positively engaged with external services around any identified needs.

Our team is looking for a Housing and Lettings Worker who will play a key role in providing a welcoming, safe and supportive environment while providing housing and tenancy related management support to clients at the service. You will be responsible for the quick turn-around of bed space voids and supporting new/current clients with benefits claims, accessing relevant health care and treatment appointments and signposting to other relevant support services. Additional responsibilities will include:

• Working as part of a team in to ensure that a person-centred approach is taken when working with clients
• Advice and assistance to clients in relation to fulfilling tenancy conditions
• Advice and assistance to clients to identify and access move-on options
• Taking the lead on the process of clearing rooms when residents leave, deal with housing management and maintenance issues across our 7 sites and support the day to day running of the office and other communal areas.

Hackney Move On is staffed on a rota basis between the hours of 9am–9pm, including weekends and Bank Holidays and includes periods of lone working.

About you

This role will suit people with some experience of housing or property management, experience of providing excellent service and managing complex and difficult situations in relation to people. You should also have:

• Good communication skills and the ability to work with others whilst managing your own time.
• A non-judgemental approach to working with homeless people and an understanding of the needs and support requirements of vulnerable clients on low (or no) incomes; including those with mental health and/or substance dependency problems.
• Ability to learn internal systems, processes and IT applications to manage compliance within the service.
• Good organizational and time management skills.

Our work is underpinned by evidence, lived experience, and a commitment to tackling inequities in care.

This is your opportunity to design and manage the delivery of a new and exciting programme of work for the Ambitions National Partnership for Palliative Care and End of Life Care, working with senior NHS and statutory and voluntary sector partners. You’ll also lead an innovative Marie Curie pilot focusing on working through primary care to improve end of life care in care homes. Your expertise and evidence-led approach will help shape decisions at local, regional, and national levels - creating a more equitable system for those at the end of life.

You will be responsible for: 

• Leading delivery of the Ambitions Partnership’s new work programme - setting clear outcomes, managing budgets, and keeping activities on track.
• Developing partnerships across the health and care system, fostering collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Enabling evidence-sharing by producing high-quality reports, briefings, and resources for policy and practice audiences.
• Managing the care homes innovation programme, ensuring learning is shared nationwide and translated into practical change.
• Designing and delivering engagement activities including workshops, seminars, and events to support policy and practice impact.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable weather and climate scientist to join us at The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) as the Science Engagement Officer.

This is an exciting career opportunity for an individual who is keen to use their skills and knowledge to make a positive impact and advance the understanding of weather and climate in society through informal education. In this role, you will provide scientific support across science engagement project development, delivery and wider RMetS team operations. Reporting to the Head of Publishing and Scientific Engagement, you will have responsibility for developing training materials and co-delivering sessions for our climate change communication training, and you will deliver RMetS early career initiatives such as our career events. You will also create engaging content for various RMetS activities and stakeholders, and work with the media to enhance public awareness of weather and climate.

What you will do in the role:

• Develop training materials and co-deliver sessions for our RMetS training programme, including climate change communication training.

Essential criteria you will need to demonstrate:

• A background in weather and climate, either through: a degree in a scientific field relevant to weather and climate; OR a Master’s degree within a scientific field relevant to weather and climate, with a minimum of three subsequent years working in industry.
• Extensive knowledge across weather and climate, and evidence of involvement in activities to ensure ongoing current knowledge across diverse areas.
• Experience in communicating scientific concepts and information to a different range of stakeholders (for example policy makers, the wider scientific and social science community, or the general public).
• A friendly and open-minded approach, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a small team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to prepare documentation for outside stakeholders and willing to communicate with the media.
• A people person who has the confidence to proactively reach out to and communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills including the ability to manage time effectively, balance multiple projects with strong attention to detail.
