Your role
This is a very special role to provide holistic health and wellbeing of those who visit our open drop-in at the Vineyard Community Centre in Richmond. To us, they are our guests, not 'clients', 'patients' or users'.
This will include personal health screening, and holistic health support; also to provide health education, and liaison with outside agencies and local surgery. Many of our guests have multiple and complex needs involving, mental health, drug/alcohol dependency and homelessness.
You’ll report to our Community Nursing Manager and work with our Case Worker and Caseworkers from the Glass Door charity, and external hosted partner organisations like SPEAR and C.A.B.

About the role:
We are looking for a passionate, ambitious Assistant Charity Shop Manager to join our successful team to help manage our charity shop in Old Swan.
The Assistant Shop Manager will be an integral part of the wider Charity team.
Main Duties/Tasks:
You will play a vital role in supporting the Shop Manager to lead, motivate, and develop a team of dedicated employees and volunteers, fostering strong community engagement and maximising the shop’s impact. This includes encouraging and harnessing the gifts of time from volunteers, goods from donors, and income from customers. As a visible and active ambassador for Alder Hey Children’s Charity on the high street, you will ensure the shop reflects the Charity’s values and purpose in all that it does. You will also support van collections and deliveries, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient transport of donated goods, while representing the Charity with enthusiasm and professionalism.
Income generation:
Work with the Shop Manager to maximise sales and profits ensuring weekly targets are met.
Support the team to maximise income from Gift Aid on donated products.
Support the team to maximise income via our online platforms.
Support the team with arranging van deliveries/collections daily.
Work with the wider Charity team to promote and support fundraising activities and events.
Explore ways to maximise sales via events, donation drives, pop-up shops etc.
Cash up the till at the end of shift and ensure banking documents are completed. Investigate any discrepancies and report them to the Manager.
Support with ensuring the money is ready and accessible for cash collection.
Open and close the shop at the appropriate times.
Volunteers:
Support and management of a team of volunteers.
Utilise volunteer skill sets and motivate them to deliver great customer service and perform tasks in-line with charity standards.
Maximise the shop’s opening hours and ensure the shop is open and managed by the shop team in the absence of the Shop Manager.
Help to provide and support ongoing training and development for volunteers.
Work and treat employees, volunteers and stakeholders in accordance with the Charity’s values.
Health & Safety (in conjunction with Shop Manager)
Ensure the shop adheres to Retail Health and Safety regulations.

The Charity retail team are currently conducting a four-day working week trial, due to end on 30 June 2026. This means that, for example, staff previously working 37.5 hours a week are now working 30 hours a week to enable a four-day working week. The trial is monitoring the benefits of a four-day working week against productivity. We are confident that by embracing a more flexible and balanced approach to work, we can continue to create a thriving and fulfilling work environment while driving growth and success for our charity. A decision will be made before the 30 June 2026 to agree the next steps, based on an assessment of the trial period; the four-day working week trial may be ended, extended or adopted permanently.

Our youth clubs and casework are transformative for young refugees, allowing young people who have fled danger, experienced traumatic journeys, and are often here alone to find community and connection, a space to be a young person, and access support to address a range of practical challenges they face. We also draw on our evidence from working every day with young refugees and asylum seekers to call for change to the laws and policies which are harming young people.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner with both youth work and casework experience to make a meaningful difference to the lives of young people in the UK asylum system. You will support young people aged 18-25, including those age-assessed as 18+, living in contingency and dispersal accommodation, helping them access social, emotional and practical support as they navigate the asylum system.
Working closely with Youth Welfare Caseworkers who hold more complex, long-term cases, you will provide early intervention and short-term casework support alongside consistent, relational youth work. You will also contribute to the ongoing monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the service, as required, helping to evidence impact and inform service development.
This role is primarily based in Brent, where you will coordinate the delivery of the Ahlan youth club with another Youth Welfare Officer and contribute to regular outreach to young people living in local hotels. You will help plan and deliver group sessions, trips and activities, creating safe, engaging and empowering spaces for young people. Who we are looking for
Breakthrough T1D is the UK’s leading type 1 diabetes charity, dedicated to funding research, advocating for change, and supporting the T1D community. You will be an enthusiastic person with an eye for detail and the ability to plan, manage and deliver our community events programme. This role will work at the heart of a passionate team, who deliver support and information to people living with type 1 diabetes throughout their type 1 journey. Events are a key opportunity to connect those living with the condition and to share what Breakthrough T1Doffers.
With experience in delivering events, you may have worked for charities before in similar roles. We are currently offering a rewarding opportunity within our Carer Assessment Service, who are responsible for carrying out Statutory and Preventative Carer Assessments across West Sussex, and specifically to visit carers living in the mid Sussex area.
As a Carer Wellbeing Assessor, you will use your knowledge and/or experience of assessments, your working knowledge and/or lived experience of health and social care, and your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to to carry out Carer Assessments under the Care Act 2014. You will provide access to the most appropriate and proportionate support to meet the identified need(s).
This is a home-based role with occasional travel across West Sussex for meetings and home visits.
While work is countywide, a base in the Mid Sussex area is preferred, as much of the work and any occasional home visits will be concentrated in this part of the county.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide statutory and preventative assessments via face-to-face, online, and telephone channels for adults caring for a relative or friend who cannot manage without their help.
• Accurately record all interventions on CSWS Client Record Management System and WSCC MOSAIC, ensuring decisions are evidenced and actions documented for timely reporting.
• Use outcome-based tools to support carers in creating personal plans and demonstrate impact through Carer Star reviews, surveys, case studies, and feedback.
• Work collaboratively with Health, Social Care, and Voluntary Sector partners, and liaise closely with Adult Social Care colleagues to promote the Carer Assessment Service.
• Champion the principles of Think Carer across networks, proactively identifying carers through outreach, community engagement, and partnership working.
