This is a very special role to provide holistic health and wellbeing of those who visit our open drop-in at the Vineyard Community Centre in Richmond. To us, they are our guests, not 'clients', 'patients' or users'.
This will include personal health screening, and holistic health support; also to provide health education, and liaison with outside agencies and local surgery. Many of our guests have multiple and complex needs involving, mental health, drug/alcohol dependency and homelessness.
You’ll report to our Community Nursing Manager and work with our Case Worker and Caseworkers from the Glass Door charity, and external hosted partner organisations like SPEAR and C.A.B.

About the role:

The Assistant Finance and Operations Manager is a new role for The Christie Charity (Charity) and a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to work for a fast moving, growing organisation. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to take ownership in the finance team for day-to-day transactional processing for The Christie Charity group. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop an understanding of charity and commercial finance. You will play a key role in supporting robust financial controls across the Charity group.
This is a hands-on role with responsibility for coordinating and overseeing day-to-day transactional activity undertaken by the Finance Officers, including purchase-to-pay, supplier payments, accounts receivable, banking, income reconciliation, corporate credit cards and other routine financial processes. The postholder will act as the first point of escalation for transactional matters which cannot be readily resolved by the Finance Officers and as a key point of contact for routine finance queries from external third parties. The Assistant Finance and Operations Manager will be an important day-to-day user of the Charity's finance and purchase-to-pay systems and will take a lead operational role in ensuring these systems are used consistently and effectively. The postholder will support Finance Officers and wider Charity colleagues with system and process queries, monitor compliance with agreed financial procedures and identify recurring issues or opportunities to improve processes. These functions are anticipated to transfer to the Charity group with the postholder taking ownership of these responsibilities within the first 3 months in role. The postholder will be expected to work autonomously to ensure the smooth transition of activities to the Charity.
This post would suit an individual who enjoys working in a dynamic, evolving environment, where responsibilities may shift in response to organisational priorities. The postholder must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
The postholder will also provide support to the team on an ad-hoc basis as required.
The postholder will complete a shift approximately every four to six weeks at the Charity’s hub in Withington to support charitable activity at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to support the Charity Financial Controller with:
- The financial management of the Charity’s funds and individually funded projects; and
- The financial control and governance of The Christie Charity group, particularly its two wholly owned subsidiaries (The Christie Trading Company Limited and Northern Pathology Developments Limited).
You will be joining The Christie Charity at an exciting time as we seek to diversify the Charity’s income streams through use of innovative social investments and strategic commercial ventures. Financial management
In relation to the financial management of the Charity’s funds, you will ensure that Individual Named Funds, containing designated funds, are utilised in accordance with their Terms of Reference. In relation to the financial management of individually funded projects, you will monitor spend against budgets through accountability mechanisms agreed with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust finance team. The postholder will be an integral part of the Charity finance team and partake in the annual budget setting process to the extent budgets relate to the Charity’s Individual Named Funds or individually funded projects.
As part of your role in the financial management of individually funded projects, you will act a finance business partner to the broader Charity. You will be integral in liaising with the Charity’s newly appointed Grants Manager to ensure they are aware of new projects.
Financial control and governance
You will play a key role in ensuring robust financial control across the Charity group, with the opportunity to take ownership of its two wholly owned subsidiaries: The Christie Trading Company Limited and Northern Pathology Developments Limited. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for overseeing the accuracy and integrity of financial controls and reporting, supporting the Charity’s aim of maintaining strong governance across both charitable and commercial operations.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, budget preparation and monitoring, completing month-end close, submitting quarterly tax returns, and preparing the statutory accounts for both subsidiaries, as well as supporting the Charity Financial Controller in maintaining effective financial control and oversight of the Charity's operations as required.

The Finance and Funds Business Partner is a well-established role in the Charity. The successful applicant will be provided on the job training to fulfil this role by the previous postholder who now holds the role of Charity Financial Controller in the organisation.

The Counselling Outreach Worker is key to SEL Mind's exciting new counselling service for Black residents of Southwark, delivered as part of the wider Southwark Wellbeing Hub. This part-time role will shape the Wellbeing Hub's provision to Black communities, expanding equitable access to culturally-appropriate support.
