Southover Partnership is an independent special needs school located across three sites in the London. We cater to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties. All our students have education, health, and care plans (EHCP) and come from a variety of local authorities. Our school specialises in supporting pupils with significantly disrupted educational histories.

We are looking for a HR officer to join our team, the role is a hybrid working model, term time position (with an additional week at the start and the end of the academic year. This a hybrid role where you work, 2 days a week at home and 3 days a week in the office.

Job Description:

•  Assist the HR department in day-to-day operations, including payroll and recruitment

Job title: Grants Manager

Location: Central London. We offer flexible and hybrid working but office-based work will be essential on a regular basis.

Salary: £43,000 per annum

Main purpose of role: To manage the day-to-day running of our grant programmes to organisations and support the practical implementation of any new grant programmes from application process through to due diligence and record maintenance.

Main duties and responsibilities:  

Grant management 

• Act as the first point of contact for grants to organisations.
• Manage a portfolio of organisational grants that deliver our theory of change outcomes.
• Provide full grant management of our organisational grants, including: preparing grant deeds, keeping track of payments and reporting requirements, distilling learning, to grant renewal considerations.
• Organise and conduct regular meetings with funded organisations to learn alongside organisations and see the work in action.
• Implement grant making processes that reflect best practice and encourage learning through our grant making. 
• Keep up-to-date with changes and developments in the external environment and work with colleagues to reflect this in strategy and practice.

Grant programme development 

• Undertaking scoping and research for new grant programmes, and developing practical knowledge about new programme areas as required.
• Providing project management support for new grant programmes alongside the Senior Grants Manager.
• Taking a lead on the negotiation of new grant agreements.
• Managing the day-to-day processes required by any new grant programme from concept through to advertising the fund, assessing grant applications, due diligence, writing recommendation papers to trustees, to awarding funding and gathering and sharing learning.

Other activities  

• Working with the Impact team to develop our monitoring and evaluation capabilities with funded organisations.
• Working with the Partnerships and Participation Manager and Policy and Best Practice Manager to ensure that our grant making processes are informed by the key stakeholders. 
• Working with our fundraising and communication team to ensure we are communicating effectively with supporters about our work.

In the role you will also connect with other organisations to create partnership and referral options. The role will include supporting the continued development of the service, assisting with the creation of resources and training. The role will also support our involvement offer; ensuring carers are at the forefront of service change and service delivery.

About the role

This role is part of the trusts and statutory team of eight. In this role you will coordinate trust fundraising activity within a large portfolio of funders, identifying trusts and foundation prospects and writing high quality proposals and reports in collaboration with supportive colleagues in the team and across the charity. It is a permanent, full time position with an established portfolio of four and five figure trust donors, and the opportunity to grow this significantly in the coming years. Together with our other Trusts Officer, you’ll oversee the small trusts programme of regular supporters, create tailored approaches to bigger funders in your portfolio, and support other team projects and cultivation events.

• Cultivate strong working relationships with a portfolio of trust and foundation supporters increasing their engagement with and support of the charity.

The Quality Assurance Lead will be responsible for ensuring effective and appropriate testing of new or modified applications, assisting the delivery of high-quality internal and externally-facing systems and digital experiences at Parkinson’s UK. 

You will develop the charity’s QA capabilities and frameworks, provide testing advice, design test strategies and plans, and provide hands-on testing for high risk projects and product releases. You will be responsible for the management of testing resources and ensure that projects have the access at the right time.

You’ll collaborate with the other professionals to develop complementary practices across the solution development life cycle, establishing quality assurance standards and nurturing good practice across the organisation.

What you’ll do:

• Establish and embed processes, standards and templates for all testing work, including functional testing, system integration testing, regression testing and support subject matter experts with user acceptance testing. 
• Develop an organisational QA strategy and operating model that aligns with demand and resources risk appetite.
• Continuously improve our test practices, seeking to build a community of practice with peers in the field.
• Determine functional and non-functional testing required for new projects or product improvements, liaising with business analysts, project and product managers to ensure that testing is properly catered for in delivery plans.
• Support the shaping of solution requirements, acceptance criteria and exit criteria so that testing is built into solution development from the start.

Partnering with grantmaking trusts, foundations and statutory funders is fundamental in helping Parkinson’s UK to deliver the impact we want to see for people affected by Parkinson's. As a Senior Trusts and Statutory Officer, you will be a part of our dynamic and high performing Major Gifts and Special Events team. We have a well established programme raising circa £5 million a year across the department to fund our vital work but big ambitions to grow that further by 2025. 

About the role

This role is part of the trusts and statutory team of eight. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a portfolio of five and six figure trust and statutory funders to help significantly grow the income over the coming years. You will coordinate trusts and statutory fundraising activity, identify compelling project propositions, and write high quality proposals and reports in collaboration with colleagues across the charity.

What you'll do

• Cultivate strong working relationships with a portfolio of trusts and statutory funders, increasing their involvement and engagement with the charity’s work.

• Create compelling proposals and reports for high and mid-value funders, securing significant gifts and growing the long-term value of your portfolio.

• Contribute to the team’s overall target and wider major gifts strategy of delivering first class supporter relationships. 

What you'll bring

• Proven experience of leading successful five figure fundraising from major trusts and foundations.

• Demonstrable expertise in the requirements of trusts fundraising, e.g. bid-writing, budgeting, activity and outcomes reporting. 

• Ability to work effectively with external people to support new projects through proposals, meetings, site visits.

• Understanding of the needs of the Parkinson’s community and strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills.

About the role 

You’ll empower people affected by Parkinson’s to live lives that are as fulfilling as possible,  whatever that means to them, to feel able to take an active role in their treatment and to become  their own advocate in health and life, wherever possible.

Our adviser teams work within local areas and via our national helpline. Our helpline hours are currently 09:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, and 10:00 to 14:00 on Saturday. We are looking for someone who can work on a flexible basis to ensure cover across the helpline’s working hours. There will also be the need to cover some hours on Saturdays, bank holidays and over the Christmas period.

What you’ll do:

• Provide in depth, person-centred information and guidance to clients via our helpline service 
• Keep accurate, up to date online client records in line with practice 
• Make best use of time in providing an effective client service 
• Recognise and respond to potential safeguarding situations using established procedures 
• Provide information on a variety of health and social care issues, including appropriate emotional support, employment and welfare benefits guidance and advocating with and on behalf of clients 
• Answer client enquiries professionally using a jargon-free approach and within established timescales 
• Maintain relationships and partnerships with internal and external teams to achieve the best outcomes for clients 
• Keep up to date with organisational and professional development relevant to your role

What you’ll bring:

• Experience of providing health and social care information through a range of channels
• Well-developed telephone skills including active listening and questioning
• Experience of supporting and empowering people with problem solving, navigating the health and social care system and participating in their own care
• Ability to be calm and deal effectively with challenging or emotional situations and/or people
• Demonstrable digital competence, with experience of effective use of a range of tools including online case management systems or similar
• In depth understanding of Parkinson’s, relevant issues and legislation, in particular in connection with health and social care and welfare benefits

In order to be considered for this role, you will need to be able to work one of the following two shift patterns:

• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (7 hours between 9am-6pm) and Saturday (10am-2pm) for a 32 hour per week contract.
• Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (7 hours between 9am-6pm) Thursday (3 hours between 9am-6pm) and Saturday ( 4 hours, 10am-2pm) for a 35 hour per week contract..

As a Programme Coordinator (PC) you will be at the frontline of our work, working directly with schools and colleges, young people and local businesses to make an impact! You will be responsible for all aspects of programme management and delivery of the Envision programme in a cluster of schools/colleges in your region.

Essential Experience, Knowledge and Competencies: 

• Experience of facilitating activities with young people – including preparing engaging sessions in advance by utilising resources available to them

• Experience of working on projects which have multiple stakeholders – communicating effectively through written and verbal communication 

• Commitment to Envision’s vision, mission and values and ability to work well in, and contribute to, our organisational culture 

Desirable Experience, Knowledge and Competencies: 

• Experience of data handling – collecting and recording data in a timely manner using an online CRM system 

• Understanding of, and/ or lived experience of, the barriers that young people face, that contribute to the education and employment gap
