Our employability team deliver a suite of careers focused programmes and activities to school and university aged young people. This includes Pathways to Law, Pathways to Banking and Finance and Pathways to Engineering, each providing young people with support and expertise in accessing higher education/apprenticeships, work experience opportunities, and skills development. Each programme hosts a national residential conference, giving students the chance to live and learn in a university environment. During the conferences our students have the opportunity to network with industry professionals, take part in a range of skills sessions and project, receive expert guidance on studying and careers, and experience university life through social activities and overnight stays in student halls.

We’re looking for a highly organised individual with a proven track record in event management to lead on the delivery of our residential conferences. Alongside our in-person residential activities this role will also coordinate some online activity for the Pathways to Medicine programme and a lead on a range of projects designed to enhance the impact of the Sutton Trust employability activities.

The post will report to our Senior Programmes Manager for Employability, working closely with the wider employability team, including line management of an intern/assistant and matrix management of team members when required.

Main duties

Designing and delivering the Trust’s residential conferences, currently one event per year for each Pathways programme (Law, Banking & Finance, and Engineering). This includes

• Organising and managing event logistics, such as venues, catering, facilities and accommodation
• Designing activities, content and timetables in line with the programme Theory of Change
• Ensuring residential conferences are risk assessed and run in accordance with latest health and safety guidelines
• Ensuring all activities are planned and delivered in line with safeguarding polices and best practice standards, maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all participants
• Overseeing all residential conference administration and pre-event processes, including attendee selection, communications, and requirement gathering
• Managing relationships and coordinating delivery with multiple programme stakeholders including university partners, employers, session facilitators and volunteer speakers
• Managing the residential programmes budget
• Line management of the Employability intern/ assistant, and effectively delegating work for other support staff as required

Responsibility for onsite delivery of each residential conference, this will include:

• Overseeing events of between 90 – 150 students, including multiple overnight stays
• Being the primary contact for staff, volunteers and partners
• Overseeing the recruitment, onboarding, training and management of temporary conference staff; managing staff teams of up to 70 people
• Ensuring all activities and events are run on time and on schedule
• Responding to student concerns and pastoral issues
• Ensuring the appropriate training and staff are in place to embed a proactive safeguarding culture at all events

Further year-round responsibilities will include:

• Co-ordinating additional online events and activities across the suite of Pathways programmes, including Pathways to Medicine
• Contribute to the annual safeguarding review and improvement process led by DSOs
• Lead on a range of employability related projects focused on enhancing the impact of our employability initiatives.
• Managing the MEAL (monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning) and reporting process for residential and relevant online activities
• Modelling best practise in utilising the Trust’s CRM system and data sharing portal - including suggesting changes to drive efficiencies and data collection
• Other duties as necessary from time to time

Person Specification

We welcome applications from individuals who have experience in:

• Designing and managing large scale events - for over 100 delegates across multiple days
• Leading young person-facing events and activities, including awareness of best practice in supporting student needs
• Leading on robust and responsive processes for safeguarding young people, ideally in a residential setting
• Managing relationships with both contracted and voluntary delivery partners as well as diverse stakeholders

Terms of Appointment

About the role

Individual giving is a fantastic, high performing team, generating over £20 million fundraised income per year. Your role will be pivotal in helping to support the delivery of our fundraising strategy, budget management, as well as being responsible for delivering campaigns to generate income both now and for the future.

About you

 We are looking for an organised, proactive and creative Events and engagement manager to join our team on a 12 month part time 0.8 FTE contract.

You will lead our core events programme. You will manage in-person and online events, liaise with speakers and attendees, prepare briefings and promotional materials, ensuring all events are delivered efficiently, on budget and in line with our environmental standards.

You will also manage internal staff events, monitor and evaluate event outcomes and manage our contacts database, maintaining accuracy and GDPR compliance. This is a varied role requiring strong organisational, logistical and administrative skills, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Position in the Organisation

The post holder reports to the head of communications and works in consultation with senior management and the policy and politics team on event planning. The position sits within the communications team, comprised of the head of communications, press officer, two communications officers and the events assistant. They rely on additional support from the events assistant and our team of trainees in preparing events, as well as the full staff team, who represent us at events.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Events management:

- Manage and curate Green Alliance core events programme, assist staff as required on their specialist events and be the first point of contact for all event enquiries.

- Target relevant audiences and manage invitee and attendee lists, liaise with speakers and produce briefings and promotional material as necessary.

- Liaise with venues, arranging catering and other event services within budget.

- Oversee all the technical and logistical tasks relating to online events, including generating links and managing reminders, hosting Zoom webinars, welcoming and briefing participants, troubleshooting throughout events, and editing and uploading recordings to YouTube.

- Monitor and evaluate event outcomes in line with organisational and project objectives; gather information and feedback the analysis to staff and board, including invitation uptake and audience profiling.

- Ensure events meet Green Alliance’s environmental criteria and are organised according to best value principles.

- Manage events on the day, including directing staff roles in advance of and during the event, and oversee all technical aspects of online webinars, roundtable discussions and seminars.

- Organise internal staff events with the events assistant, including the Christmas party, strategy away days and other internal learning events, such as our lunchtime seminar series.

Database management:

- Manage the contacts database, ensuring it is up to date and accurate.

- Support staff on how to use the database and maintain protocols to ensure ongoing data integrity.

- Keep abreast of GDPR in relation to events and database management.

Other:

- Line manage the events assistant.

- Hold a company credit card.

- Provide any other support which may reasonably be requested to be undertaken within the scope of this post.

- Participate in organisation planning and strategy discussions.

- Due to the nature of the role the post holder will be required to work some early mornings and evenings for time off in lieu.

About the role 

At the heart of our operations, our exceptional Regional Casework Coordinators serve as the primary point of contact for members of the armed forces community reaching out to our Regional Offices for support.

In this dynamic role, no two days are the same. You may be supporting individuals in distress over the phone, managing email and voicemail communications, collaborating with volunteers on complex casework, building strong relationships with local authorities and charitable organisations, or working closely with internal services to secure the best possible outcomes for our clients.

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support them. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensuring that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service.

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the East of England region in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, or Essex.

You will occasionally be required to travel around the region or further afield, to attend face to face meetings or training events.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA. You will initially be required to attend an in-person caseworkers’ course which may require an overnight stay.

About the team 

Reporting to the Regional Casework Manager our Casework Coordinators, together with our Volunteer Caseworkers, work remotely within the regional office area.  With beneficiaries at the heart of everything we do, team members pride themselves in building and maintaining close working relationships to ensure the smooth operation of the office.  The wider regional support team includes a Regional Manager, Volunteer Development Manager and a Community Engagement Manager.

The Missional Youth Church Network (MYCN) was established out of a desire to see churches grow their ministry to young people and equip, develop and encourage them to be leaders in mission. The bold and exciting vision of the Network is to pioneer and establish missional youth churches, enabling 11-18 year olds to build community and discover faith in Christ.

This role is for a Diocesan Partnership Development Officer, for MYCN within Church Army UK. It has come out of a desire to see dioceses and churches grow their ministry to young people, especially reaching unchurched young people in schools and local communities.

As Development Officer, you’ll be a catalyst for developing partnerships with dioceses across the Church of England with the purpose of enabling new and existing missional youth projects to flourish. Working under the direction and guidance of the Team Leader and the steering group, you will work as a close-knit team to expand the Network, utilising the different specialist gifts and experience of each member.

The post of Charity Communications Officer is an important link between the hospital charity, the local community and hospital staff. About the role 

Volunteers are vital to Parkinson’s UK; they provide high valued support and services through local branches, groups and cafes. This rewarding role provides the opportunity to work directly with volunteers, together making a positive difference to the lives of people affected by Parkinson’s. 

You’ll act as the main point of contact and support for volunteers in local branches, groups and cafes. As part of an integrated regional team, you’ll contribute to shared plans and priorities. You’ll provide high quality business support to colleagues to promote volunteering opportunities and bring volunteers together in the local community.

What you’ll do:

• Provide excellent customer service to local group volunteers through remote and in-person support. 

• Be the main point of contact for colleagues seeking support to recruit volunteers in the community as part of a regional team. 

• Support volunteers to lead their groups in line with governance requirements through provision of information and relevant tools. 

• Support our local group volunteers with reviewing and planning their activities (including associated budgets). 

• Manage volunteer records using online tools such as the volunteer management system, local activities database, for example. 

• Support events and meetings which bring volunteers together in the community. 

• Promote and facilitate volunteer recruitment, induction and training to local volunteer roles. 

• Maintain relevant data on local group activities, or support lead volunteers to do so. 

• Produce regular reports for performance reporting and monitoring.

What you’ll bring:

We are seeking a motivated Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser to secure vital income and build strong partnerships with funders across the UK.

About the role

As Trusts and Foundations Fundraiser, you will play a key role in generating income to support our mission of sharing the joy of live music in care settings. You will manage a portfolio of small and medium value trusts and foundations, writing compelling funding proposals and delivering excellent stewardship to strengthen long-term relationships.

Overview of the Job:

• Preparing tailored applications to trusts and foundations in line with organisational strategy and values.
• Managing and developing relationships with funders, providing regular updates and impact reports.
