Location: Hybrid with frequent travel in the Scotland region. Bases are Glasgow Cat Centre, Scotland Cat Centre, and Forth Valley Cat Centre 

Work pattern: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities of our Lifeline/Domestic Abuse Caseworker: 

• assessing referrals and admitting cats onto the service 

• providing pet advice and support to our volunteer foster carers

• extensive communication via phone, email and in person, as well as daily admin and extensive driving 

About the Lifeline team: 

• Lifeline is a pet fostering service for anyone fleeing domestic abuse 

• the majority of our referrals come from women fleeing domestic abuse via women-only services. 

• the service places cats into volunteer foster homes on a temporary basis until their owners can be reunited with them. 

• our team consists of a National Lifeline Manager, Lifeline Manager and Lifeline Caseworkers 

What we’re looking for in our Lifeline/Domestic Abuse Caseworker: 

• good all-round experience of performing administrative duties in a busy service 

• previous experience supporting victims of domestic abuse in a support role 

• a strong understanding of the problems experienced by families fleeing domestic abuse with pets 

• a confident self-starter who has had experience of working with volunteers and home visiting 

• a full, manual UK driving license and comfortable driving a van 

• confident handling cats of different temperaments

• good working knowledge of Microsoft Office

About the Investment team

The Investment team is responsible for selecting portfolio partners, managing our charity investments and supporting our portfolio partners to improve and scale their impact. 

The Investment team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles. 

The team is made up of 18 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.   

The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in school engagement, school attainment and employment sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors between them. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 7). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest. 

The Investment team has a good track record of role progression. All four Leads and a number of our Investment Directors were promoted from within the team.

​Key responsibilities
Finding high potential charities and non-profit partners for our portfolio 

• Identifying potential charitable organisations for investment.
• Leading and delivering in-depth due diligence process within the scope of a grant round, to assess and build partnership foundations with potential partners – covering leadership and governance, and their impact, scale, and partnership potential.
• Modelling from first contact of origination, our approach to engaged and trust-based investment management support.
• Developing and presenting high quality investment propositions to our Investment Committee.

Managing partnerships with portfolio partners​

• ​Managing relationships with partner Chairs and CEOs. 
• Agreeing Service Funding Agreements, including appropriate annual investment milestones to allow for a clear assessment of re-investment potential at end of phase. 
• Regularly monitoring and assessing partner progress / risks against milestones and making evidence-based recommendations on progression or exit to Leads, Portfolio Director and the Investment Committee.
• Escalating key risks on performance, leadership and safeguarding.   
• Conducting annual partnership reviews with Sector Leads and partner CEOs.
• Working with Impetus finance colleagues to ensure timely distribution of grant payments, in line with Service Funding Agreements.  

Supporting portfolio partners  ​

• ​Providing high quality advisory support to CEOs and senior colleagues on key strategic topics, using a mix of at least monthly one-to-one meetings and group facilitation to: 

• clarify theory of change
• ​define long term ambition
• ​develop growth strategy 
• ​achieve a step change in the delivery and performance management of outcomes 
• ​strengthen leadership (individual and collective) and governance capabilities
• ​develop path to scale
• ​build financial resilience

• ​Scoping and project managing pro bono capacity-building projects (in addition to providing direct management support). Ensure projects are delivered to a high standard and contribute to charity progression.
• Identifying engagement opportunities for our donors and supporters with portfolio partners that are aligned with the partner’s activities and do not distract or undermine their core work.
• Collaborating with the Impetus Philanthropy team to support the development of additional funding opportunities for portfolio partners, enhancing their ability to deliver impact at scale.
• Effectively leveraging the support of investment managers to advance the objectives developed for each portfolio partner that is managed by an Investment Director.

Support to Impetus

• Developing expertise about “what works” in the sector through cultivation and use of expert input and engagement as well as investigation into key research and evaluative literature.
• Contributing insights and learning from portfolio work to inform Impetus’ strategy, model and delivery, providing evidence based recommendations to senior colleagues
• Contributing to internal priorities and working groups, bringing expertise and insight from portfolio work (e.g. team strategy discussions, digital improvement initiatives, or equity, diversity, and inclusion).
• Contribute towards Impetus’ public affairs and philanthropy objectives through input into case studies, research and policy campaigns, donor reports and fundraising events.

​At Epilepsy Action we recognise the power of collaboration and teamwork, so our team members with hybrid contracts can expect to work a minimum of 40% at our office in Leeds. Your Role

As a Peer Support Officer, you will play a key role within our Services team, helping to deliver compassionate, high-quality peer support for people living with epilepsy across the UK.

• Empower volunteers – providing remote support and supervision to a dedicated team of volunteers and Independent Group Leaders, ensuring they feel confident, valued, and equipped in their roles.
• Facilitate support sessions – Support the delivery of virtual groups and online events. Creating safe, welcoming, and nurturing environments where people can share experiences and engage in meaningful discussions.
• Support growth and development – contribute to the development of our peer support services and help expand the reach and impact of our services.
• Deliver meaningful support – work directly with service users to ensure everyone accessing our services feels heard, connected, and supported throughout their journey with epilepsy.

About the role: Transform Justice is seeking a research and policy officer to play a vital role supporting its work for a better justice system. We are looking for someone inquisitive, flexible, and organised. The role is home-based using your own equipment, so you will need to be able to work on your own with minimal day-to-day supervision. There is the option to work at an office in Old Street, London up to two days a week with other Transform Justice team members. The team also meets regularly online and for in-person meetings in London.

Main responsibilities and duties:

• Undertaking qualitative and quantitative research including phone interviews, survey design, submitting FOI requests and analysing published data

• Reviewing relevant academic evidence and policy documents and identifying what’s important for our advocacy work 

• Writing, editing and proofreading reports, briefings and submissions

• Liaising with policy makers and stakeholders including organising and attending meetings and drafting correspondence

• Organising online and in person events to support Transform Justice’s advocacy work 

• Supporting the CourtWatch London project including engaging with volunteers, organising and supporting the delivery of training, reviewing data collection 

• Support the drafting of funding applications

• Other reasonable duties as required including administrative tasks such as generating invoices 

Skills and experience:

• Essential: At least two years of work experience in a research or policy-related role

• Essential: Demonstrable qualitative and quantitative research skills, for example using interviews, surveys, or published statistics to produce insights and recommendations 

• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing 

• Ability to take ownership of tasks when working remotely with little supervision, seeking advice and support when needed

• Ability to prioritise your workload when working on a range of different projects and tasks 

• Excellent computer skills, with knowledge and practice of Word, Excel and PowerPoint 

• Interest in criminal justice policy issues, and a commitment to help achieve Transform Justice’s vision

Location: Remote working with regular in-person meetings in London and the option to hot-desk in an office in Old Street, London up to two days per week. 

Contract: One year term with the potential to be renewable

Salary: £29,000 - £32,000 pa full time (pro rata if part time). 

Hours: Full time (also open to part-time 3 or 4 days a week)

Reporting to: Deputy director

Holiday/pension: 25 days FTE (pro rata if part time)

Probationary period: three months
