We seek a Development and Grants Senior Officer to support our funding applications and grant reporting for Blue Ventures’ Indonesia programmes. What will you be doing?

This is a key role within our dedicated communications team and will focus on leveraging and shaping Plantlife’s activity and presence in the media, alongside a job share colleague. You will support the Head of Communications and Engagement with the leadership, planning and delivery of Plantlife’s media strategy to raise awareness, engage stakeholders and drive support for our cause.

This role will support our campaigning activity in the UK and internationally and will be one of Plantlife key external voices, playing a pivotal role in shaping our key messages. Fauna & Flora is seeking a highly experienced professional to manage it’s fundraising from a portfolio of statutory (government and multilateral) donors, such as Defra, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service etc.

You will support colleagues and partners to develop high-quality proposal packages for priority donors, and ensure their timely submission. You will coordinate proposals and reporting internally, and ensure all documents produced for donors meet their criteria, as well as follow Fauna & Flora approval and submission procedures. There is a strong capacity development element to this work, and you will share knowledge, learning and resources across Fauna & Flora to maximise success rate and promote best practice in grant management and donor stewardship. You may also develop and deliver training packages, in Cambridge and potentially overseas. You will monitor Fauna & Flora’s activities in statutory fundraising and fund management within your portfolio, and support internal decision-making and strategy development by sharing this learning.

Experience of working with government funding sources, be they bilateral and/or multilateral, is essential for this role. You will have proven experience of securing restricted funding from government sources, and a strong understanding of how statutory donors and funding programmes support the achievement of international targets and government priorities. Knowledge of and experience in biodiversity conservation, the development sector, and/or climate is an asset; a commitment to learning and supporting these sectors is essential. You may have worked in the non-profit sector, such as international development, or have a background in bid management, proposal development, and grant fundraising.

Strong relationship-management and communications skills are essential to the role, to develop positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regional teams, non-governmental partners, and government agencies. You will be diplomatic and persuasive, and your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to coordinate people and processes to meet timelines. You will be a strong team player and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where the ability to respond swiftly to changing organisational and team needs is paramount. With a proactive and pre-emptive approach to your work, you will seek to add value and work with minimal supervision.

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Skills in languages relevant to Fauna & Flora’s programme (e.g., French, Spanish, Bahasa) are highly desirable. Sensitivity to the different working environments and capacities of colleagues around the world is also essential.

What you’ll do (key responsibilities)

Reporting to the Senior Fundraising Manager, you will be instrumental in supporting our Fundraising team across; Trusts & Foundations, Major Donors and Individual Giving.

• Leading on the delivery of 2 x Individual Giving appeals per year (Big Give);

• Acting as the Relationship Manager for a small pipeline of Trust and Foundations;
• Assisting in the planning, administration and delivery of fundraising and stewardship events;

The post-holder will play a pivotal role in securing new grants, and building the capacity of the global staff team to effectively manage the grants once secured. Headline overview of responsibilities: 

- Grant identification and pipeline management: Conduct research to identify potential grant funding opportunities. Conduct research and analysis on the reporting and financial requirements of prospective donors. Maintain the funding pipeline/ grant management database

- Grant application oversight: Manage the end-to-end grant application process for new grants.

- Budget and financial management: Collaborate with the project and finance teams to develop project budgets. Monitor spending against grants in relation to activities delivered. Ensure Project Leads receive monthly spend updates. Ensure donor budgets are utilised as directed, financial reporting is on-track, and any alterations are communicated internally and externally. Support Project Leads to re-forecast budgets.

- Grant compliance: Ensure compliance with grant agreements, reporting requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Ensure that the project delivery team is inducted on contractual obligations, and provide support and advice regarding adherence to contracts throughout the grant period. Support on grant management documentation, including quality assuring processes. Support the project delivery teams in the preparation and submission of donor reports, through until grant close-out.

- Grant Performance Management: Ensure that all grant management tools are set up with each grant’s inception period. Coordinate quarterly grant oversight meetings, and hold project delivery teams to account for delivery of projects. Ensure GWEC fulfils its obligations to donors as per grant contracts. Support the finance team to liaise with auditors throughout audits.

- Knowledge sharing: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant funding and statutory funding. Share technical advice, grant specific guidance and project management best practices and tools. Contribute to GWECs grant-related systems, policies, processes, and guidelines.

- Strategy delivery: Support the Grants Director in the delivery of the fundraising strategy, including assuming responsibility for the delivery of identified tasks within the team’s annual work plan. Engage in regular monitoring of progress against the work plan.

Essentia Person Criteria:

• Right to work in UK or Portugal

• Fluency in written and spoken English

• University Degree (BA or Bsc)

• 3 or more years relevant  experience, in either a non-profit organisation or a grant making organisation

• Be diligently compliance-driven to ensure organisational adherence to grant-maker requirements, and local laws and regulations

As the Digital Fundraising Officer you will play a key role in supporting the digital fundraising strategy in the UK and internationally, with the objective of significantly growing the public supporter base and income. Main Duties

Social media

• Work with the Content Manager and other team members to create new and updated web content in line with the Content Strategy, that is engaging, accurate and on-brand.

• Ensure web content is optimised for SEO and usability, advising and training staff on best practice.

• Contribute to team efforts to enhance the website as an engagement tool, including liaising with agencies where relevant. 

Other

• Track, monitor and report on digital activity to prove impact and maximise effectiveness. 

• Oversee/brief colleagues and freelancers, where relevant, to deliver discrete pieces of digital content for Rewilding Britain's channels.

• Contribute digital expertise to wider organisational projects and activities in support of our objectives. 

• Support the team in delivering Rewilding Britain webinars and events.
   

Essential skills, experience and behaviours

Experience

• At least three years' experience in a digital management role in a comparable organisation, overseeing digital communications to further organisational objectives. 

• Proven experience in managing social media channels in a professional role.

• Experience in producing and optimising email marketing (ideally using Mailchimp).

• Experience in managing and optimising website content.

• Familiarity with Google Analytics and digital monitoring tools.

• In-depth experience and understanding of current social and digital communications tools, landscape and trends.

Skills

• Excellent writing, editing and communication skills.

• Skills in creative content developments, such as video and photo editing, ideally using Adobe Creative Suite. 

• Skilled digital planner, with a track record of inspiring and leading on digital.

• Good grasp of conservation and ecology.
   

Personal qualities

• Proactive, creative and flexible approach with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively and autonomously from home, while also working collaboratively as part of a tight-knit team. 

• Highly organised, able to manage a content schedule and to plan and deliver digital campaigns.

Terms and conditions and staff benefits

This role is as maternity cover (9 months with possibility of extension).

This is a full time 5 day (35 hour) a week position, but we are open to a conversation with candidates who are seeking a role of 28-35 hours a week.

There will be some freedom for the person to determine their own working arrangements each week, within limitations, providing the work is delivered.

The salary is £35-40,000 f.t.e. per annum, dependent on skills and experience.

Rewilding Britain employees benefit from 25 days annual leave per year (pro rata for part time roles), rising to 30 days over 5 years. A generous employer-matched pension scheme is also available.

We are a virtual team who work from home and/or co-working spaces. We will support you to achieve a suitable virtual working environment. Some meetings are held face to face across Britain, so a willingness to travel with occasional overnight stays is desirable.

The Role
