We’re a small charity that brings communities together to create cleaner, connected and safer urban and rural neighbourhoods by tackling the litter problems where they live. Litter-picking brings people closer together, enables neighbours to meet one another other and helps create a greater sense of pride and community in local areas.

Historically, we have delivered litter-picking focussed community engagement projects in London and Birmingham. Our current focus is developing partnerships with community organisations across England to expand our reach and increase impact.

Main duties of the role 

• To provide a pro-active, high-quality administration and support service to the Operational Team, Chief Executive and the Corporate Partnerships team. 

Operational Team: Deals with logistics, processes and day to day functions of our work on the ground with community partners and volunteers. 

• To attend weekly team meetings 

• To assist in research into new areas of operation for the charity. 

• To oversee orders of equipment and printed resources to our partners with various suppliers around the country.

• To maintain meticulous records regarding our growing national Cleanup Hub network of community partners. 

• To collate statistics and create regular reports of programme activity, using our website and new database. 

• To provide help and advice to enquiries that come through our information email inbox. This could include; helping people access their profiles on our website or advising them as to how to get involved in community litter picking activity.

• To use Mail Chimp to send mailers to our partners and followers. 

• Database Management, to take a pro-active role in our upcoming database development project, considering how best to structure, store and export data. Following the launch of the database lead on database development and maintenance, such as an annual data cleanse.

• To assist with setting up, maintaining and updating database information, Community Cleanup Hub registrations, profiles and filing systems, ensuring that data handling complies with GDPR requirements. 

• To assist with staff recruitment and induction processes. 

Chief Executive: leads our strategic direction / reports to the Trustees 

• To organise board meetings; booking diary dates, venues, catering and taking minutes. 

• To attend and take detailed minutes at board meetings and any other meetings required. 

• To process invoices, expense claims and credit card statements. 

• To assist with staff recruitment and induction processes. 

Corporate Partnerships: manages relationships with our corporate partners 

• To oversee orders of equipment and printed resources to our corporate partners with various suppliers around the country.

Community Engagement Officer - Greater Manchester

This is a fixed-term, full-time role ending 31st March 2026. The RSPB reserves the right to extend or make this role permanent without further advertising dependent on business needs at the end of the contract term.

We’re looking for an experienced project officer with a passion for working with communities, to inspire and support people to discover, explore and take community-led action for nature in Greater Manchester. This role will work closely with established partners and existing RSPB local groups and volunteers, including the Greater Manchester Swift Champions, to develop new opportunities to work with community groups, focusing on supporting creating new habitats for swifts, one of the UK’s most threatened species. You will explore opportunities for working more closely with young people, with the aspiration to establish two RSPB youth groups in Greater Manchester and a Swift Youth Action Group focused on 16 – 24-year-olds. You will identify where the RSPB can best support and enhance nature, with guidance from local conservation staff.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead front-line delivery of RSPB’s community engagement work at a local level, inspiring people to connect with nature through an 18-month programme of events and activities. Central to this will be recruitment and management of a network of volunteers. The Project Officer will be responsible for developing and running a rolling programme of training to enable volunteers to develop skills to allow them to continue to support nature-based initiatives. 

You will have experience of delivering community projects, events and experience of volunteer recruitment, induction and management, and the ability to motivate volunteers to independently deliver organisational objectives. The confidence to make decisions that enable the continued delivery of key objectives and to keep the project on track is crucial, as is the ability to communicate these decisions, where applicable, with stakeholders and partners.

Specific tasks:

• To lead our community engagement work in Greater Manchester, inspiring local communities to take action for nature, ensuring work is resilient and sustainable beyond the life of the project.
• To build a full picture of local environmental networks and the range of nature recovery and environmental work taking place locally, identifying opportunities to develop new partnerships.
• Act as an advocate for nature recovery within a diverse range of sectors including local government and private businesses to further our support for nature.
• Build links and strengthen existing relationships with RSPB Local Groups and other volunteer-led work taking place in urban green spaces, liaising closely with partners.
• To lead and continue to grow the Greater Manchester Swift Champion network of volunteers with the support of the Species Volunteer Network (SVN), which will allow us to do more for Swifts within local communities.
• Identify opportunities for youth involvement in establishing a Swift Champions Youth Action Group and two new RSPB Youth Groups, working closely with relevant stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver a series of volunteer recruitment, induction, and training days to increase numbers of new active volunteers within Manchester as well as building resilience and upskilling existing volunteers.
• Develop and deliver an 18-month programme of diverse nature-based events and activities (with a focus on Swifts including the installation of Swift boxes and/or bricks).
• To embed evaluation measures and provide regular reports to show impact across Greater Manchester.

Our Corporate Support Coordinator plays a key role in developing and implementing a compelling package for businesses and organisations to support FareShare GM, which includes running corporate days (team building and volunteering in the FSGM operation) as well as other ways for organisations to engage with us such as sponsorship, fundraising activities, events and so on. 

You'll take a proactive lead in coordinating the activities of corporate partners, in conjunction with the FSGM Operations team, staff and volunteers, to ensure successful outcomes for all.  You'll build and maintain positive relationships with all our stakeholders including FareShare UK, our customers and the wider community to optimise the benefits of corporate engagement activities.

About the role 

This is an exciting role to work with Sustrans as part of the Liveable Cities and Towns Team to increase the impact of our behaviour change work within schools across Southeast Wales. 

The role involves promoting active travel (cycling, scooting and walking) to school age children, parents and staff at selected primary and secondary schools to reduce the number of pupils who are driven to school. 

This exciting challenge will include working directly with local primary and secondary schools, working with relevant stakeholders, the provision of guidance and training to school staff and the delivery of practical activities to parents and pupils.  

Candidates should be based within the geographical area with regular travel expected to nominated schools across the region. 

About you 

With experience of working in a school setting with children and young people, of delivering skills training and of partnership working within a range of capabilities, you will have the ability to build strong working relationships.   

Your enthusiasm will be motivational to others and your excellent written and verbal communication will complement your strong organisational and planning skills. 

IT literacy is essential as is an understanding of school settings and the health benefits of active travel. You will also be committed to active travel and the promotion of sustainable transport.

An exciting opportunity has come up to lead our Green Social Prescribing Service; Roots to Wellbeing. In this role you get the opportunity to unlock the therapeutic power of nature for those who really need it. You get to work with a diverse range of people across communities and leading organisations as well as being a leading figure in a growing movement that champions the impact nature connection can have to improve health and wellbeing and combat loneliness.

We are looking for a creative, compassionate and enthusiastic leader who can help us not only reach but exceed our goals for this project and be the nurturing force to help Roots to Wellbeing develop and grow. 

Roots to Wellbeing project aims:

• Provide a safe and inclusive space for participants to receive weekly support.
• Help participants to connect with nature and socialise with others to feel happier, less anxious and less isolated.
• Support participants to access other beneficial services, where appropriate, including health, social and financial.
• Support participants to move onto outdoor work or volunteering with friends of groups where appropriate.
• Facilitate a positive journey through the service for participants to ensure as many people as possible can access the service.

The role 

The roles has four main areas of work:

1. Leadership and management:

• Lead the Roots to Wellbeing team to reach its goals. 
• Line manage and support three Mental Health Officers, each delivering Roots to Wellbeing on one site.
• Work with local communities and other team members to explore new opportunities for the project and develop solutions.
• Work with CEO and Head of Fundraising to secure funding for project development.

2. Project management: 

• Oversee the delivery and development of the project to meet key KPIs.
• Collate qualitative and quantitative data and produce impact reports for funders. 
• Support team to ensure administrative records are kept up to date, including but not limited to: maintaining accurate participant records, work programme, incident reporting, risk management, external outreach, website.
• Develop a thorough communications strategy and build on current local referral relationships to further embed the programme within the VCSE & Health sector.
• Ensure service standard and quality is consistent across sites and policies and procedures are followed. 
• Recruit and induct volunteers to support session delivery.
• Work in partnership with stakeholders within and across the organisation to deliver project goals.
• Attend networking meetings and community events to raise awareness of the project and demonstrate its impact. 

3. Session delivery at Hartcliffe Millennium Green: 

• Continually build and maintain relationships with local referral partners to achieve a consistent referral rate into the project. 
• Deliver weekly Roots to Wellbeing sessions by; planning and facilitating delivery of sessions and activities in line with 5 pathways to nature connectedness and that are accessible to all participants, organising logistics of sessions such as travel, food and equipment, acting as safeguarding lead during sessions, liaising with co-facilitator, leading peer-support style check in at the beginning of the sessions and the grounding and meditation at the end.
• Lead on all direct communication with participants at Hartcliffe Millennium Green. Support them to create personalised development plans, signposting and referrals where needed. 

4. Other: 

• Support the work of the wider charity and specifically the South Bristol team as required. 
• Representing the charity externally through media work and presentation where necessary.

Research also shows that increasing your connection with nature can positively impact a range of conditions, including stress, anxiety and depression.  RSPB Nature Prescriptions are designed to encourage and prompt people to connect to nature.

Comfortable Challenging the Status Quo: Nature Prescriptions offer a way of improving wellbeing outside of the typical medical model of healthcare

Key tasks:

• Develop and deliver a new RSPB Nature Prescriptions project to people living in diverse communities within the West Midlands
• Deliver presentations to a wide range of potential stakeholders with the aim of obtaining engagement with the project
• Engage with local healthcare professionals and community groups to identify ways of ensuring Nature Prescriptions reach a large diversity of people
• Co-design Nature Prescriptions materials with local people, community groups and healthcare professionals
• Facilitate nature connection workshops to improve the knowledge, skills and confidence of people who will be delivering Nature Prescriptions
• Develop a project plan for the delivery of Nature Prescriptions and follow project management principles to ensure a successful delivery of agreed outcomes
• Tap into local environmental networks to build a picture of nature based activities available and identify opportunities for partnership working
• Explore and contribute to the evaluation of the project, including data gathering and collecting case studies from project partners
• Represent the RSPB on relevant local health and wellbeing networks
• Build internal relationships with RSPB employees and volunteers working within the West Midlands and beyond
• Further develop our Nature and Wellbeing Sharepoint site to provide people across the RSPB access to our latest materials

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Skilled in delivering nature connection workshops or training
• Experience of working within the health and wellbeing sector
• Experience of developing and delivering projects with diverse communities
• Experience of developing external partnerships and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders
• An excellent verbal and written communicator able to communicate RSPB messages in a way that is understood by a range of audiences and that engenders their support
• Experience of successfully developing and delivering projects
• Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage and deliver a varied workload
• Skilled in using Microsoft 365 suite including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Teams

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Experience of SharePoint management
• Experience of recruiting and managing volunteers

Our network comprises 20 members, based all over the world, and is growing steadily.

As the demand for our model increases around the world, our income and expenditure are growing in volume and complexity. We are looking for a Finance Officer to support our financial operations through this expansion: recording financial transactions, monitoring internal controls and coordinating with our local foundations about financial management. The role will report to the Finance Director and will work closely with the rest of the team. This is a critical role that is central to the success of building a robust organisation, and there is opportunity for an ambitious candidate to grow in responsibility with it.

Key Responsibilities:

 Carry out day-to-day financial transactions

· Process invoices to support fundraising efforts of local foundations in the network.

· Review vendors invoices as per internal controls and update them to the purchasing ledger for authorisation.

· Conduct on-going reconciliation of bank accounts and donor due diligence.

· Reconciliation of merchant accounts (Just Giving, Donorbox or Paypal) and prompt communication to local foundations and fundraising team.

· Setting up systems to process event, auction or other ad-hoc fundraising campaigns.

· Preparation of Gift Aid reporting on quarterly basis.

· Weekly payments administration using online banking.

· Maintain accurate records of financial transactions on Xero.

· Maintain monthly records of bank payments approval for audit purposes.

Coordinate income recognition with fundraising team members

· Notify local foundations about donations received and log required documentation.

· Provide formal receipts on received donations as requested.

· Reconcile Stripe transactions on Salesforce to maintain accurate donor records.

· Support with income reconciliation between Salesforce and Xero.

Support Finance Director on maintaining accurate financial information and developing ongoing internal controls

· Support creation of management accounts materials for trustees meeting.

· Support quarterly reconciliation of funds with our affiliated network member to communicate re-grants of donations

· Feed into the design of a financial manual – a how to guide for best practice in charity finance and governance oversight.

· Support annual external audit.

Supporting CC to deliver network benefits to local foundations

· Support members of the network with any financial queries.

· Communicate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (Executive Directors, support team, donors) on financial queries.

· Invoice affiliates on cost recovery of services

Essential criteria:

· A recognized accounting qualification or studying towards the qualification, (CIMA, ACCA)

· Knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles

· An ability to work quickly and accurately

· A proven track record of teamwork with non-technical colleagues

· Stellar communication skills, verbal and written

· A keen eye for detail

· An ability to work to deadlines

· Able to manage confidential information

We manage and monitor our donor relations, grant giving governance, contacts, and event activities, via a bespoke and customised salesforce system. This was launched in September 2021, and has been developed and configured to meet our growing needs since then. As the demand for our model increases around the world, we need a highly capable systems specialist to support us to ensure our data systems are well managed, users are trained, and we can create accurate reports for our donors and other audiences. The role will report to the Finance Director and will work closely with the rest of the team. This is a critical role that is central to the success of building a robust organisation, and there is opportunity for an ambitious candidate to grow in responsibility with it.

Key Responsibilities:

 Oversee Salesforce System: maintenance, training, development, and reporting

 Maintenance

· Ensure key objects on Salesforce such as accounts, contacts, campaigns and grants are working effectively (ensure process flows work well).

· Maintain reliable records in all objects on Salesforce by eliminating duplicates monthly, processing user deletion requests and updating records for lists with up-to-date information on key stakeholders (e.g. trustees, contractors etc).

· Weekly data back-ups.

· Uploading ad-hoc batch data from Campaigns e.g. Just Giving or historical data into Opportunities.

· Ensure regular data cleaning to enhance the credibility and adoption of the system. Spot trends with issues and feedback into system development or training.

· Oversee data governance log: maintaining log of changes to review with the team, discussing effect on budget and system usage to inform decision making.

 Training and support

· Oversee user set ups, create new user profiles, and share best practices according to GDPR practices.

· Oversee smooth onboarding and training process for new members to ensure effective adoption.

· Keep training materials related to key objects updated, host internal webinars to address new feature introductions or common issues to troubleshoot.

· Promptly troubleshoot any user issues and feeding these into training to prevent it happening again.

· Respond to individual questions from users on Slack and share tips and tricks.

 Automations and Development

· Manage the integration of Form Assembly, ensuring all connectors work well and troubleshoot and update individual forms when needed.

· Support users with the building of individual Form Assembly forms, updating when needed (ad hoc) and embedding them in their websites.

· Perform developments such as creating new fields, updating picklist values, page layouts, forms, automation configuration, formula fields, and other content. Work with core team to assess where a development is foundation specific, and where it should be applied across all users.

· Act as key point of contact with our external Salesforce consultants on any requests of flow maintenance or improvements and monitoring effective use of credits and budgets.

 Reporting

· Build reports and dashboards for each key Object – spot trends and suggest improvements.

o Opportunities - pipeline and income reports for board meetings

o Grants - tracker and applications analysis, extraction of impact data for evaluation purposes

· Provide quarterly diagnoses of user adoption levels across the network.

· Work with exec director to prepare quarterly data for trustee meeting and annual reports.

Manage IT systems with the support of an outsourced consultant

 · Act as a key point of contact with our outsourced IT company, overseeing the creation of new users and managing the leavers’ processes.

• Ensure MS365 systems are working effectively for current users, and troubleshoot issues as a first point of contact before liaising with outsourced providers.

· Maintain an up to date ‘how to guide’ for our intranet, ensuring all users know how to use it and find what they need.

· Recommend Cyber Security improvements.

· Procure IT equipment for team with support of external consultant.

· Maintain an up-to-date list of active users, MS 365 licenses and Antivirus license protection.

· Oversee the IT budget by approving expenses on a regular basis.

· To manage website domains – purchasing new ones on request, performing updates or providing access to web designers.

Essential criteria:

· Understanding of and experience in Salesforce User Management

· Knowledge/skills in improving business processes, overseeing testing; identifying and implementing systems enhancements.

Energy & Retrofit Partnership Officer
Location: North of Tyne and homeworking
Salary: £27,826 – £31,061 per annum, pro rata
Contract: Fixed term till March 2025

About the role

Working across Newcastle, Northumberland, and North Tyneside this post will support the delivery of the North of Tyne Combined Authority’s One Stop Shop for Retrofit Advice (OSS).  The One Stop Shop will help households progress with domestic energy retrofit by offering a trusted end-to-end solution.

You will be a key resource in supporting the marketing and campaigns activities of the OSS to engage partners across our communities. Working with a team of Energy and Retrofit Advisors the Partnership Officer will develop networks and partnerships to help households pursuing domestic retrofit opportunities. They will attend ongoing Steering Group and delivery team meetings to ensure they are aware of all Shop activity and its effective coordination. The post will work closely with Local Authorities and the Combined Authority to ensure that domestic retrofit is recognised and delivered across the North of Tyne Area.
