You may also find it useful to visit member hospices. You can work remotely for the rest of the time. Equally, you may prefer to work from the office full-time.
Contractually this role is London-based.
Contract: Permanent, full time (35 hours per week).

We’re looking for a creative-loving Marketing Communications person to join our digital content team at Hospice UK. It’s a really exciting chance to jump into a pivotal role here, and facilitate much of the great visual content that we produce as a team.
You’ll be working with some lovely people in the wider Communications and Campaigns team, which is part of an External Affairs directorate. We’re a small, close-knit department but already this year we’ve achieved some truly mighty results – not least, our recent rebrand, new strategy and new visual identity.
As you might imagine, working at a hospice charity brings with it some truly compassionate people. It’s a really lovely place to work because the people make it so. As Senior Marketing Communications Officer, you’d be part of a team of three, including your line manager (Senior Digital Marketing & Campaign Manager), and Membership Communications Officer.
And yes – as a hospice charity, we do work with death and dying on a daily basis. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Actually, by talking about it, writing about it and sharing stories about it, we’re helping to remove the stigma and taboo that it often comes with. And those stories and communications help give people hope, strength and confidence, sometimes when they need it most.
As Senior Marketing Communications Officer, you’ll be looking after a lot of our more creative, aesthetic products and projects. You might already be working as a Marketing or Digital Marketing Officer or Coordinator, and looking for the next step for your career. Or you could be an established Marcomms professional searching for a new challenge. Maybe you’ve already been in a marketing management position and want to get back to doing what you love!
Either way, you’ll be pretty knowledgeable on how to look after digital channels like social media and websites, and will have some experience of both. You might have some photoshoot management and video projects under your belt too, and ideally you’ll have experience of managing a digital asset management system. The role will also involve some print project knowledge, so it would be really handy if you’ve looked after relationships with designers, printers and know how the process works (and what gsm our new Impact Report should be, for example!)
We don’t expect you to be a brand specialist, but hopefully you’ll have experience of working with an organisation’s brand book, tone of voice and visual identity guidelines. That’s because many people in other teams here will turn to you for guidance on how to use our new brand, which logo or font to use, and requests to source appropriate photography in our house style.
We’re looking to bolster our content and storytelling about compelling hospice care, and we’d love someone to join us with ideas on how to elevate that, and help source and write those stories up for us. Part of your role as Senior Marketing Communications Officer will be to help produce content – stories, videos, photos, resources – to our two major national campaigns: Hospice Care Week, and Dying Matters Awareness Week. We’re based in London’s King’s Cross, just a five minute walk from the station. But Hospice UK employees are based all over the UK! We have both quarterly all-staff and External Affairs away days, which are a great chance to catch up in person with colleagues from around Hospice UK.

The Grants Officer will be a member of the Biomedical Grants and Policy Department. You will work with a Grants Manager to administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grants schemes and activities.
You will act as a key point of contact for external liaison relating to the schemes. Working with the other Grants Officers and the rest of the Team, you will also help to develop and deliver events for Academy grant holders, as well as contribute to the Academy’s wider portfolio of work, and the delivery of our new strategy.
About the role – what you will be doing.
- Administer a portion of the Academy’s portfolio of grant schemes
- Processing applications, determining eligibility, and coordinating peer review of eligible applications.
- Convening and supporting the awarding panel, including preparation of committee papers, reports and financial information, as well as preparing feedback to applicants.
- Managing the new grants once awarded, along with the Academy’s existing portfolio of grants.
- Supporting the monitoring of awards and evaluation of grants schemes.
- Analysing data and preparing papers, presentations and reports to demonstrate the impact of our schemes for internal and external use.
- Maintaining accurate and up to date data on grants.
- Researching and reporting on initiatives being undertaken by other UK funders.

The role will manage the Donor Acquisition Fundraiser and In-Memory Fundraiser and be responsible for the overall delivery of our individual giving strategy.
As the Individual Giving Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the planning and implementation of our individual giving programme of fundraising and activities, aimed at individuals. It will be the Individual Giving Manager’s responsibility to generate significant income through individual gifts, campaigns and appeals, regular giving, in memoriam giving, lottery and legacies, and to increase activity and income from these sources.
Your primary focus will be on recruiting new donors, retention through a gold standard supporter journey and income growth for these vital areas of fundraising, all while leading a dedicated team. You will be responsible for delivering innovative and creative appeals as well as supporting the fundraisers responsible for in-memory and donor acquisition to achieve their targets and objectives.

The Fund is committed to a hybrid working model that meets the organisation’s needs, while giving staff flexibility to choose between office and home working. Most staff are expected to work a minimum of 40% from our central London office and are free to work more days from the office if they prefer. We are in the process of developing our long-term policy on this, although the expected minimum time in the office will remain 40% (pro rata).

We are looking for a Senior Finance Assistant to join our Finance team, a team which is vital to the Foundation’s ability to make an impact and improve health in Lambeth and Southwark. This role will enjoy a broad and interesting remit, and will provide essential support to the Finance team in its mission to process and report financial information of the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities
· Payment process
o Ensure appropriate approvals are in place prior to each payment in accordance with internal governance procedures.
o Arrange weekly bulk and ad-hoc payments for all approved outstanding invoices, grants and commitments for the Foundation and its subsidiaries, from the appropriate bank account.
o Ensuring all remittance advices are correctly send out to recipients.
o Ensure all supplier’s bank detail changes are checked and verified.
o Input all payments to the finance system accurately and in a timely manner.
· Investment ledgers input and maintenance
o Input accurate investment pricing monthly to the investments schedules; and maintain the user profiles for investment managers’ investor portals.
o Collect and file all investments statements to the appropriate files.
o Assist with monthly property journals input.
· Accrual & Prepayment calculations and maintenance
o Calculate and input accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis.
o Maintain detailed records and documentation to support all accrual and prepayment entries, ensuring the accuracy and quality of the work and its compliance with internal accounting policies.
· Balance sheet maintenance and control
o Check and approve bank reconciliations for all group bank accounts monthly in accordance with the procedures and schedules in force.
o Ensure that any unposted cash items are posted in the finance system and investigate all other uncleared items.
o Identify fixed asset purchases and disposals and compute depreciation charges, posting all entries before month end close.
o Proactively review all balance sheet accounts on a regular basis and at every month end for aged items and mispostings, performing reconciliations for all control accounts, inter-company accounts and other accounts in accordance with the procedures and schedules in force.
o Understand, maintain and run some routine month end journals with high accuracy.
· Management accounts assistance
o Assist the Senior Accountant in producing the monthly overhead running reports, including account data running, variance investigations and final accounts distribution.
o Assist the Management Accountant for month end reconciliation and other tasks as required.
· General administration and support
o File all work, which may be in either electronic or paper format, in the appropriate file(s) as soon as it is completed. Assist the team to organise documents and file constructively.
o Assist in bank accounts administration as required.
o Respond to financial queries and requests as required in a professional manner.
o Other ad-hoc tasks as required.
· Provision of cover
o To provide absence cover as necessary for the tasks performed in the Finance team as required.

About the job
RDS is at an exciting stage in embedding our data sourcing and curation functions as a key partner in delivery of the ADR Scotland programme. We’re recruiting a Data Analyst to assess the suitability of making datasets available for research. This will include deciding if data is accurate and fit for purpose and preparing it for use in Scotland’s National Safe Haven (a secure computing environment). This will include using R/R Studio to write code to update datasets. The analyst will also work on developing ways to update and refresh existing datasets and improve discoverability through our metadata catalogue, as well as helping develop new data services which could include the creation of synthetic data.

You are an analytical self-starter, with experience of working with a wide range of analysis and synthesis techniques, including statistical analysis in SAS or R. You’ll understand the importance of ensuring data for analysis meets data quality standards and is interoperable with other data sets, enabling reuse. Crucial to this is the energy and focus we bring to ensuring charitable donations are utilised as effectively as possible through the Guy’s Cancer Charity, the Evelina London Children’s Charity and the Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity. - Develop and manage a portfolio of grants, advising and guiding applicants and grant holders, with appropriate support from Funding Managers where needed.

Overall Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Work proactively to deliver and maximise philanthropic and corporate relationships and delivery of income targets
- Secure long-term, sustainable income from High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) and Corporate Partners to meet fundraising targets
- Work with the Director of Fundraising and Fundraising Management Team to build and grow a donor pipeline by identifying potential prospects and connecting networks
- Diversify the Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy income streams by developing a suite of opportunities for income generation including; multi-year donations, sponsorship, Gifts in Kind, Charity of the Year, Sobell Business Club and payroll giving as well as stocks and shares
- Build, manage and maintain a portfolio of HNWI and Corporate events
- Steward relationships to ensure donor satisfaction and long-term financial commitment, including detailed and timely reporting
