About the role

Over the next year, we’re expecting around five of our existing contracts to come up for re-tender. We’re determined to position ourselves to be in the best possible place to sustain these and support the mental health needs of our communities.

Achieving this goal will require our services to actively demonstrate that they respond to the needs of both our communities and commissioners; meet both best practice guidelines and possibilities for greater service integration, whilst also delivering best value. This role will help achieve this goal through identifying opportunities for service transformation. As new service models and projects are developed, the role will also work alongside our operational Heads of Service to effectively and sustainably roll out change.

About you

You will have knowledge and understanding of working in the mental health space, and be an experienced change leader and project manager who is interested in working with us to improve future ways of working. You are a strategic thinker who can build partnerships and collaboration, but are just as comfortable getting into the detail and using data analysis and process mapping expertise to help services get ready for change. Ideally, you’ll have tender experience (from working with the NHS).

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Head of Operations and Development (HOD) will play a pivotal role in taking our work to its next stage, helping us deliver even greater impact across our community.

Management-level experience in a charitable or not-for-profit organisation is an advantage, but more important is a hands-on, can-do approach and the motivation to help deliver the Centre’s strategy over the coming years.

• I ensure the delivery of safe, personalised services to each individual service user through assessment, person-centred planning and regular outcome focused reviews of services. 
• I ensure the development of aspirational support planning for individual residents.
• I ensure safe systems of work, such as personal safety and lone working; and compliance with all Rethink Mental Illness’ safety policies and systems. 
• I develop the quality of information recorded on Rethink Information System (RIS) and support staff in their use of RIS and the culture of person-centred support planning.

• I maximise service user experience through developing an effective complaints management culture and recording on Hive in line with internal policies and procedures

Some of the essential skills and experience required:

• I have achieved (or working towards) Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health & Social Care or the equivalent.
• 2 years relevant experience in an operational management capacity in a health/social care setting. 
• Knowledge and understanding of the current legal responsibilities and standards for CQC registered services, including the need for the management and delivery of person-centred services. 
• Experience of providing effective supervision, leadership and management of staff. 
• Must have experience of directly working with people with a severe mental illness.

As Strategic Lead for Adult Mental Health Equity, you'll be responsible for leading our work to address mental health inequalities, with a specific focus on our equity priorities around racialised communities and people experiencing poverty. This will involve the continuous development of our equity strategic plans and ongoing oversight and review of progress against objectives and outcomes. You will work across the organisation and with local Minds and external partners to understand challenges and barriers to adult's mental health and identify opportunities for Mind to address these, e.g. through partnerships and innovation, collaborating with key stakeholders, internally and externally, to develop and mobilise solutions.

Key duties and responsibilities

The post holder will:

-Lead continuous development of Mind's equity strategic plans, particularly focused on racialised communities and people experiencing poverty.

-Work with colleagues across the Mental Health Equity team to deliver the support offer to the local Mind network and assess for good practice, focussed around using the Advancing Mental Health Equalities strategy.

-Lead on the co-ordination & co-design of equity-focused programmes and services at both a local and national level.

-Build and maintain partnerships with relevant external partners, and represent Mind on alliances, collectives and strategic partnerships.

-Act as an internal expert and advisor on mental health equity, informing and shaping decisions to improve access, outcomes and experiences for equity priority audiences.

As Interim Bid Writer you will be responsible for maximise income, duties will include:

•  Developing and delivering income generation strategies with a focus on long-term sustainability.

• Developing existing income sources and leading on development into new areas.

We are looking for a Business Development Director to take on a pivotal role in leading this integral team.

 

The Role

 

As Business Development Director you will have strategic responsibility for income and growth across the charity. Duties will include:

· Leading on the income generation, communications and marketing strategy.

· Developing key partnerships with new and existing stakeholders.

· Leading the tendering and partnership processes to fulfil strategic objectives.

· Developing and implementing strategies to drive all income streams to achieve growth.

· Inspiring and motivating a team of dedicated, ambitious and talented individuals.

The Person

 

We are looking for a visionary leader! An experienced, motivating and influential individual who is passionate about the values, ethos and mission of the charity. The skills and experience we are looking for include:

· Experience in a leading income generation role within a charity.

· A good understanding of bid framework, commissioning and tendering.

· Proven experience of devising, managing, and implementing a budget and of financial modelling.

· Experience developing and implementing income generation strategies and of diversifying income.

About the role 

We're looking for a highly motivated and skilled Bid Manager who can actively craft commercial tender submissions and work with the team to ensure we submit high-quality, winning bids within UK government procurement rules.

You will sit in the Business and Strategy directorate and lead bid-writing across the organisation, line-managing a team of Bid Writers and working closely with other colleagues across Business Development, Marketing and Operations.

This position is a full-time, 35 hours a week, permanent contract with a starting salary between £44,500 - £50,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. We are open to a conversation about flexible working or job sharing. Whilst the role is home-based, some travel for team meetings will be required.

How will you make a difference? 

Through your bid management expertise you will proactively manage the workload of the bid-team, balancing known pipeline opportunities and the unknown tenders issued, ensuring capacity to bid on rewins and make the most of the new business opportunities. 

You will assiduously manage the end-to-end bid process and will support and empower the Bid Writers to take ownership of proposals and ensure they co-ordinate input from key stakeholders across the organisation.

How you will make a difference

As the Workplace Mental Health and Training Manager, I develop, deliver and manage mental health training and initiatives to support employers, employees and others, in creating mentally healthy workplaces and communities.

I create, and oversee the creation of, new and bespoke training, initiatives and contribute to the design, development and delivery of consultancy services, aligned with our other services.

I review our existing products and services for reliability, evidence-base, relevancy and effectiveness and apply or project-manage improvements.

I ensure the continued high-quality of delivery of our mental health training and initiatives to external audiences across both Rethink Mental Illness and Mental Health UK.

*Appointments will be at the minimum of the band.
