Literacy Tutor

The Creighton Centre is a local charity with a long history of working in Hammersmith & Fulham, caring for older, vulnerable and disabled people. We tackle problems caused by social isolation and disadvantage by developing and providing programmes that offer people practical solutions and emotional support.

The Learning Disability Outreach (LDO) project needs a Literacy Tutor to teach people with learning disabilities, helping them to improve their reading and writing skills, to enhance their lives and achieve their aspirations. The teaching will be mostly in a 1-to-1 capacity, or with small groups. You will need some experience of teaching literacy skills and a compassionate attitude.

An interest in gardening and educating people in a small community garden would be a bonus, although not essential.

CYP Psychotherapist/Counsellor

Norwood are looking for a CYP Psychotherapist/Counsellor to provide therapeutic support to children/young people exhibiting emotional and/or behavioural problems or who are at risk of developing such problems.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• To provide individual therapy/counselling sessions, supporting pupils where there are concerns about their emotional wellbeing. Group interventions may also be delivered, depending on the needs of the centre/school.

This role is part of the Wiltshire Project which provides individual and family support to domestic abuse for victims and their children.

Working with children and young people, the team will focus on delivering timely and high quality, trauma informed support to children who have been the victims of domestic abuse.

This is a fixed term position to November 2025.

This exciting post will be working with children who have experienced or been affected by domestic abuse. Focusing on standard and medium risk cases, this role will provide practical and emotional support to children and young people, with an emphasis on early intervention and awareness raising.

In addition, there will be the opportunity to work with the team and manager to develop and deliver new group work provision for young people.

About this key role

As a Trainer, you will be embedded within a prison-based setting and expected to assess the suitability of applicants to become Wellbeing peer supporters and to complete the Learning to Advise course, which includes sessions on confidentiality, equality act, safeguarding and case notes and other relevant training.  You will then prepare, plan, and deliver the Learning to Advise assured course to individuals in prison, ensuring the completion of all relevant paperwork in a timely manner and delivering any additional Emotional Resilience/Wellbeing units necessary to individuals participating.

We will also rely on you to work with allocated learners to produce realistic assessment plans and to provide one-to-one support to learners as appropriate, whilst monitoring their progress towards timely completion and certification. Working in partnership with Big Dog Little Dog to design, adapt and deliver emotional resilience/wellbeing training sessions is also a key element of this role, as is working constructively with colleagues to achieve pilot targets and supporting local community projects with advertising, recruiting, and facilitating ROTLS.

We are recruiting a part-time (2 days per week) Carer Support Coordinator to join our supportive team who are committed to making life better for Manchester’s unpaid carers. This post is an ideal opportunity for someone who is passionate about support for carers, enjoys working as part of a team and wants to have real input in developing the service.

We are looking for someone with a good understanding of the needs of unpaid carers and recognises the value of peer support between carers. You might also have experience running groups, providing one-to-one support or information, or supporting volunteers. 

The role will involve spending a lot of time out in the community across Manchester working with carers and in partnership with others developing and delivering the service. Your office/admin base would be your home address.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in compliance with UK employment law and best practices.
• Oversee the recruitment and selection process, including job postings, candidate screening, and interviews.
• Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring a smooth transition for new hires and departing staff members.
• Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, performance management, and disciplinary actions.
• Communicate the employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
• Maintain accurate HR records and ensure data confidentiality and compliance with GDPR regulations.
• Collaborate with managers to identify staffing needs and develop workforce planning strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate HR metrics, such as turnover rates, employee engagement scores, and diversity metrics, to identify areas for improvement and inform decision-making.
• Stay informed about current HR trends and best practices and make recommendations for continuous improvement.

This role is 0.5-0.6 FTE with options for flexible and hybrid working.  Working hours will be discussed with the successful candidate to ensure a mutually beneficial working pattern

Healthier Lifestyles Project Officer x 2

Responsible to:  Healthier Lifestyles Service Manager

Responsible for:  Volunteers, as required

Salary:  £27,330.60 per annum FTE (Pro Rata if part time)

Hours:  Full time and Part time role available Monday to Friday. 

(A full working week is 35  hours)

Contract: 1-year fixed term contract with extension subject to funding

Location: Home, office (Thornton Heath) with regular travel in Croydon

We are looking to recruit two additional project officers mainly to help deliver our Live Love Later Life and Healthsmart services whilst providing organisational and administrative support to help these run smoothly.

An exercise qualification and experience of delivering health checks are highly desirable. However, if you do not hold these qualifications you will need to undergo a chair-based exercise qualification and blood pressure training. Applicants need to be willing to undergo this training. They also need to have the confidence and enthusiasm to deliver exercise to groups of older people whilst motivating participants that may have a variety of physical and cognitive challenges. These attributes will be assessed through a task during the interview process.

The Chief Executive will be responsible for providing leadership, developing, and implementing Living Well Bromley’s strategic and operational plans, leading on partnership and business development, and being an effective advocate for the charity and its beneficiaries.

They will lead a senior management team of three (the Operations Manager, Funding and Communications Manager and Advocacy Manager).They will be responsible for ensuring financial control and supporting and advising on governance best practice across all aspects of the charity.
