We are looking for a development manager with a range of skills and experiences to support other mining charities develop a sustainable future. You will have a background in partnership working and developing funding opportunities, as well as a good understanding of charity governance.

As Development Manager, you will:

• Support mining charities to develop business plans and budgeting and help them to identify funding opportunities and develop funding proposals.
• Provide secretariat services to mining related regional grant making charities. 
• Contribute to the development of and promote the organisations support offer for other mining charities, seeking new methods of supporting local trustees.
• Support the recruitment and training of local trustees and officers, encouraging good governance
• Develop local partnership working with other voluntary sector organisations, tiers of local government and local communities.
• Ensure the organisation interests and responsibilities in partner charities are retained and fulfilled.
• Represent the organisation with external parties, including, welfare charities, councils and local authorities as required

The Marketing Manager will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Museum including Commercial & Visitor Experience, Marketing, Digital Content, Media and PR and Membership to ensure a joined-up campaign approach. Ultimately, in this role you will combine hands-on delivery of campaigns with data-informed planning, stakeholder engagement and budget management.

Role:The Senior Development Officer ​plays an integral role within the Development Team at Forces Employment Charity (FEC). You will work with the Head of Development to produce high quality, bespoke proposals, and reports to demonstrate impact and outcomes to help drive the delivery of FEC across the UK. You will also work within the team to research and identify new fundraising opportunities from trusts, foundations and companies and convert these into long term business relationships.

Principle Responsibilities:

• To work closely with the Head of Development to research and identify new opportunities.

About the role 

Smart Works Reading exists to empower all women who need help getting into work. We aim to support 1000 clients with our Interview and Preparation service per year. As such, we require vital funding from Grants, Trusts, Corporates and Foundations to enable us to achieve our mission. We also need support to deliver our annual calendar of corporate events.

We are seeking a Fundraising and Partnerships Manager to join our small and ambitious team. The successful candidate will build a strong pipeline of grant funders, gifts from Trusts & Foundations, and corporate donations, incorporating both core and restricted funding.

The successful candidate will report directly into our Board of Trustees, and work alongside our small staff team, with the objective of maximizing local funding opportunities, expanding our portfolio of grant funders and corporate donations, and attendant relationships, and contributing to a growth in income for the charity. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching and identifying prospective funders and corporate partners, writing and submitting high-quality applications and proposals, and delivering excellent grant management, donation and stewardship updates. They will also work closely with the Events Trustees to deliver an exciting calendar of corporate and community fundraising events, and lead our annual sport challenge, Cycle for Smart Works.

We are seeking a proactive self-starter, with experience in philanthropic fundraising and relationship management, excellent written communication skills and demonstrable attention to detail. We would also love to hear if you have experience working with grant applications and/or funding proposals and using a range of tools to identify new funding opportunities.

Smart Works Reading is a collaborative environment, with dynamic teams and ambitious plans across the UK. It is a rewarding national community with regular liaison with the London Charity Partnerships and Fundraising Team.

This is a hybrid role, working from the Reading centre at least three days per week. Some evening and weekend work will also be required to support philanthropic fundraising and wider fundraising events such as Fashion Sales.

Duties and responsibilities

• Building excellent relationships and networking with corporate and community partners, generating awareness and income of minimum £165k for the centre across grants, events and corporate fundraising.
• Maintain database with relevant income tracking and pipeline data to facilitate regular KPI and financial reporting to the Board of Trustees. 
• Lead our annual signature corporate challenge - Cycle for Smart Works - to target income c. £25k, including managing the project locally from planning to delivery, identifying and onboarding corporate and community participant teams and stewardship of the programme.
• Securing one-year and multi-year grants from a range of Trusts and Foundations, including traditional grant funders, local charities, family foundations and corporate foundations to meet income targets c. 100k. 
• Researching and identifying prospective grant funders, and corporates, donors and individuals who could support Smart Works Reading, and building and maintaining long-term relationships.
• Writing high-quality grant applications, working collaboratively with the Chair of the Board and staff team to deliver creative and compelling proposals for both core and restricted funding.
• Maintaining strong relationships with current and prospective funders, including the preparation of impact reports and sharing regular updates on grant management.
• Maintaining an accurate data record of pledged, banked and prospective income for the Reading centre, working in collaboration with Smart Works Charity to maintain local management accounts. 
• Representing Smart Works Reading to a diverse range of stakeholders and audiences to generate income and raise brand awareness within the local community.
• Support the Events Trustee with stewardship of fashion and retail partners, including venue and catering supporters, as well as our corporate partners supporting the charity.
• Support the delivery of our signature fundraising events, including high-end supporter events and fashion sales, where the Events Trustee manages the project from concept to execution and ensures income targets are met.
• Developing and implementing new initiatives to raise funds for the charity, for example, Fashion Club, following other centre’s initiatives.

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate and engaging training lead for our parent and volunteer training programs. The training lead for parents and volunteers will lead on the design, development and delivery of a program of training support for parents impacted by Child Sexual Abuse and will support with the delivery of the training for new We Stand volunteers.

Role Description 

To plan, develop and deliver parent training and workshops for protective parents and carers whose

children have been sexually abused; to support parents and carers to understand and process the impacts of child sexual abuse and learn strategies for supporting their children after abuse together with those who share similar experiences. To work collaboratively with We Stand colleagues, to provide support that is accessible, appropriate, timely and tailored to suit the needs of individual clients.

To contribute to the recruitment and selection of We Stand volunteers including student therapists on placement and helpline volunteers. To lead on the delivery of induction and training for all new volunteers and ensure that they are adequately prepared and supported to begin their placement with We Stand.

Parent Training: 

Parent training and workshops are designed to support parents following a disclosure of CSA. The training focuses on providing parents and carers with the useful information and strategies they need to manage and support their child or young person’s journey of recovery. Via 1:1 or group sessions, parents gain the knowledge they need to help them support their child and regain confidence in themselves.

Key Responsibilities

Design and development of content 

• Setting up an annual program of training and workshop delivery for parents and carers

• Ongoing review and development of content to ensure the program is up to date and tailored to the needs of clients

Managing referrals and Assessment of clients 

• Working collaboratively with We Stand colleagues to promote training and workshops to relevant parents and carers

• Managing referrals to training and workshops and assessing the suitability of clients for the program

• Be a point of contact for parents and carers on the waiting list for training and workshops

Delivery of group and individual training 

• Deliver We Stand’s 4-week training programme for parents and carers

• Be a point of contact and support for parents during and immediately after their involvement in the program

• Where appropriate, deliver 1:1 training slots to parents and carers who require this additional support due to e.g. those with additional needs, high levels of anxiety or a particularly complex situation (including sibling abuse)

• Keep accurate and appropriate records for every parent/ carer attending training and workshops

Monitoring and Evaluation 

• Ensure that robust monitoring and evaluation processes are in place to capture the experience of all parents and carers attending training and workshops

• Analyse evaluation data against programme aims and objectives to ensure outcomes are being met and to inform service developments

• Take responsibility for continuous improvement of processes to support the effective delivery of training and workshops for parents and carers

• Contribute towards reports for funders, and the We Stand Board of Trustees 

• Contribute to relevant fundraising applications, as required

Volunteer Training 

We Stand relies on a team of dedicated and skilled volunteers to help us deliver life-changing support to families impacted by child sexual abuse. We are committed to ensuring all volunteers have the information, resources and support they need to carry out their role effectively and have a positive experience during their time with the organisation. This includes via a comprehensive training and induction programme and ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment and selection

• Contribute to the recruitment and selection of new volunteers following a best practice volunteer recruitment process

Induction training programme 

• Oversee and coordinate an annual program of induction training for new and existing volunteers

• Lead on the delivery  of a 4-week programme to induct new volunteers

• Assist with the review and development of content to ensure the program is up to date and tailored to the needs of volunteers

Monitoring and Evaluation 

• Ensure that robust monitoring and evaluation processes are in place to capture the experience of all volunteers attending induction training

• Analyse evaluation data against programme aims and objectives to ensure outcomes are being met and to inform training developments

Other duties: 

• Attend regular clinical supervision, supported by We Stand

• Attend regular We Stand staff and team meetings

• Carry out any other reasonable duties required from time to time by the charity

Person Specification

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Experience of design, delivering training programs for families impacted by trauma

• Understanding of the impact of trauma

• Experience of service coordination and project management

• Experience of providing support to volunteers

• Experience of working with clients who have experienced high levels of trauma

• High level communication skills, including experience of communicating effectively across cultures and with diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing

• An ability to develop, monitor, review and take responsibility for the implementation of a project plan including the monitoring and evaluation of projects 

• Excellent IT skills – with a good knowledge of Google applications

• Excellent organisational and time management skills

SSAFA’s Network & Community team, operating across the UK, are proud to announce this role as part of their strategic development plans.

This is a new fundraising opportunity to help provide support for serving personnel, veterans and their families ensuring that no-one battles alone.

Supported by the Statutory Grants Manager, this role is fundamental in developing, supporting and championing new and existing fundraising from heath providers and local authorities. The aim is to increase income generation in this area whilst raising SSAFA’s profile within local authorities and health care provision. This initiative will require relationship development and bid writing skills to create effective proposals for support.

SSAFA is entering into an exciting period of strategic development within this proven income stream. If successful, you will be the part of a small team with potential for career development.

There will be an occasional need to travel across the UK and to work evenings and weekends at key events.

With regular team meetings and a variety of communication mediums you will be given ongoing support, training and mentoring throughout. We are a remote team and well connected to all colleagues.
