We’re a thriving advice organisation that is part of the national Citizens Advice network. We provide information, advice and casework support to around 10,000 people a year. Our services are delivered by a team of around 40 paid staff and 60 volunteers. Supported by existing project funding and a long-term grant from the Access to Justice Foundation, we’re looking for two people to join our Senior Management Team and help lead the next phase of our innovative and award-winning development work. The Head of Core Service and Head of Community Partnerships will work together to:

• Continue developing our approach to community engagement, helping reduce access barriers for people from the most marginalised communities.
• Embed changes to our core service that make it more accessible and responsive to those communities.

Both roles also have overall responsibility for a range of funded projects and services and, as leaders and managers, responsibility for:

• Ensuring we live up to our values, standards and ambitions.
• Managing contracts and relationships with funders, partners and other stakeholders.
• Developing organisational strategy and identifying new funding and partnership opportunities.

With a focus on operational compliance and core delivery, the Head of Core Service role would suit applicants with a strong track record of managing advice services, ideally within the Citizens Advice network. Young Lives vs Cancer (YLvC) help families to find the strength to face everything cancer throws at them.

Citizens Advice Hammersmith and Fulham working in partnership with the national charity YLvC delivers a pioneering project via multi channels (telephone/email/web) providing advice to families of young people affected by cancer.

The project is expanding and we are recruiting a Welfare Rights Benefits Adviser and a Housing Adviser.

The project requires dynamic advisers who can sensitively, engage with families in an often difficult time. Reassure them in terms of options and steps they can take to address the welfare rights/housing issues they are experiencing. Knowing they have options to consider gives them reassurance in a time of uncertainty.

Working with the YLvC team who are located across the UK, advice provided by the project Advisers will also support YLvC social workers, to better help the families and young people accessing the charity support.

• Manage the service budget and review monthly management accounts: Set budgets and ensure resources are maximised.

Other

KEY CRITERIA

What we are looking for:

• Understanding and/or experience of working with people of complex backgrounds, ex-offenders, mental health, substance misuse, challenging behaviours

TLC: Talk, Listen, Change is a dynamic, leading relationships charity based in Greater Manchester.

We are looking for a Domestic Abuse Support Worker to join an exciting partnership project in Stockport.

You will support victims of domestic abuse within the Stockport Borough offering a person centred and trauma informed package of support and advocacy. 

The role 

In this role you will complete risk and needs assessments with victims of domestic abuse who live in the borough of Stockport. You will liaise with referring agencies, actively contribute to risk management procedures and team working. You will carry out a large and varied range of practical support which may include safety planning, advocacy, risk assessment and risk management. We also offer emotional support to those people we work with, encouraging and supporting them to rebuild lost confidence and self-esteem. We are a consent driven service and therefore the needs of the person we are supporting is at the core of all the work that you will do. 

As part of the Stockport Domestic Abuse Support team, you will also be supporting the partners of those who are undertaking behaviour change work on the Striving to Change Programme. 

You will attend regular risk management meetings to ensure that both parties are fully supported and that the risk is appropriately managed.

The Emma Project, Daria House and Jan’s Place are specialist services providing refuge and support services to women who have been subjected to domestic and/or sexual violence and abuse, including women who have been sexually exploited, including through prostitution and who also use substances problematically.
You will work closely alongside the refuges Team Leader and Service Manager to implement and deliver a trauma informed approach to refuge services.

Through 1:1 mentoring, you will ensure children and young people are equipped to think critically, assess risk, and make better life choices. The resulting mindset shift and confidence makes them more resilient to the risks of becoming involved with substance misuse and/or supply; gangs; exploitation and violence.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Delivery specialist Exploitation 1 to 1 casework and mentoring to identified at risk young people and their families.

• Establish and maintain positive relationships with children and young people to provide emotional support, guidance, and mentorship.

• Address individual needs and challenges, utilising personal experiences, local knowledge, professional skills and St Giles casework and mentoring materials to offer support and intervention.

• Assist children and young people in setting and achieving personal life goals.

• Collaborate with professionals to support and develop strategies to minimise the risk to young people.

• Maintain a trauma informed approach, that recognises and responds to trauma and amplifies the voices and experiences of children and young people.

Supported by the Statutory Grants Manager, this role is fundamental in developing, supporting and championing new and existing fundraising from heath providers and local authorities. The aim is to increase income generation in this area whilst raising SSAFA’s profile within local authorities and health care provision. This initiative will require relationship development and bid writing skills to create effective proposals for support.

Our Welfare Officers provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family. As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.

Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.

Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you will use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.

You will play an active role within the community, promoting the service through the delivery of presentations and representing the service at public engagement events. You will also work closely with RAF welfare teams, local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.
