Children’s online safety is both an important and an urgent issue and the need for our unique work here at Breck Foundation is greater now than ever. The primary purpose of this role is to help children and young people take practical steps to become more digitally resilient and be safer online. Our freelance School Engagement Officers introduce the highly impactful Breck’s story into schools and other youth and community spaces across the country and deliver inspiring, educational talks to students, parents and guardians, teachers, and other groups in a ‘whole community’ approach.

Breck Foundation is at the forefront of efforts to safeguard children and young people online. Our organisation was founded in 2014 in response to the tragic loss of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. Our work aims to prevent this from ever happening again. Our work saves lives. We reach thousands of children and young people in schools and other community settings with Breck's story every year. Our talks and educational materials fill a gap in the current UK curriculum that otherwise leaves children vulnerable to online grooming and exploitation. With 98% of young people now active internet users, current and future generations grow up having to navigate new and evolving digital dangers. We are committed to making the internet a place where children can live, play, and thrive in safety. We are helping young people reclaim the internet. 

Training: All necessary training will be provided, and time spent in training will be compensated.

More specifically, the post holders will:

• Research speaking opportunities and engage/build sustainable relationships with schools and other youth spaces with the aim of securing speaking engagements (known as bookings).

• Work with the Breck Foundation team to set up all new speaking engagements and ensure set communication processes are met and all calendar entries completed.

• Maintain relationships with named contacts within schools and other youth spaces with a view to achieving repeat bookings.

• Where practical, to attend and deliver bookings at different locations using the Foundation’s standardised PowerPoint presentations, with a commitment to educate/raise awareness among young people, staff, parents & carers about the dangers young people face from online grooming through gaming and social media and other online harms. School Engagement Officer (Freelance) Role Description

• Where impractical to deliver bookings secured, to work with the Foundation team to ensure that the booking is assigned appropriately and delivered to a high standard.

• Represent the Foundation in a professional manner and to protect and advance the Foundation’s profile in all engagements, including to work collaboratively with other colleagues to identify new ways to raise awareness of the foundation’s mission and to help expand their scope, reach and geographical coverage and income generation capabilities.

• If delivering bookings, carryout pre- and post-delivery engagements, including sharing pre and post presentation packs with schools and actively seeking feedback, testimonials and even Vox Pops where possible; and to log these on Salesforce.

• Reporting of data to contribute to organisational impact, including using surveys to document statistics for each engagement, for example number of pupils reached by age group.

• Log all notable interactions with schools and other organisation and institutions in the relevant organisation’s Salesforce account to enable the team to avoid duplication and maintain professionalism in our engagements with them.

• Provide ad hoc services which may be requested from time to time.

The Let’s Go Zero campaign is seeking two Climate Action Advisors in the East of England and the South East as part of its new climate action advisors project. This initiative will link thousands of schools across the whole of England with advice and support from a network of 31 local climate experts.     

About the Role 

Do you have a passion for climate action? Are you confident engaging with external stakeholders? We're looking for two advisors (one based in Kent, and one based in Norfolk) to support school leaders, local authorities and others to carry out projects that reduce emissions and inspire students and the wider community. We know schools are eager to take climate action, but often lack the information to do so.

You will play an important role helping them develop their plans, secure funding, and work in partnership to achieve their goals. You will support future new initiatives announced by our coalition members, the Department for Education, or other organisations working in schools, to ensure a smooth flow of information, enabling schools to transition to zero carbon.

• Developing and overseeing the delivery of an internal and external content plan, profiling Cancer Research UK's thought leadership across different areas of the cancer pathway and facilitating the translation of evidence into policy and practice

• Building strong relationships with key content, audience and communications teams in both the development and delivery of the plan

• Maintaining oversight of resource development, such as those aimed at health professionals, and ensuring a strategically-relevant and impactful portfolio of content and resources

• Liaising with evidence and health system engagement teams to identify and drive opportunities to support health systems audiences across the cancer pathway, bringing creativity, insight and positivity to the task

• Leading on the review and design transformation of our existing health professional webpages

• Managing communications on behalf of the Strategic Evidence team to key audiences, both internally and externally

EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-driven UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips voluntary community educators to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of our world where communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.

Since 2016, through collaborating extensively with over 250 local volunteers, who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’, with a strategy to support them in moving towards our ‘Dream Spot Model’. Together, we are developing a model for a community-led education space with accompanying network engagement that could have relevance in settings across the world. 

Our Ghana-based programmes team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for volunteers: the Ignite, Catalyse and Peer Mentoring Programmes. These enable them to lead EduLit, EduSTEM, EduKidz and Ignite Equity clubs, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 students of all ages annually. About this role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic fundraising professional, with a proven track record of income generation and a strong ability to develop impactful relationships with the skills to bring aligned individuals and organisations into our long-term EduSpots community. The post holder will be creative, passionate and self-motivated, with strong marketing and communications skills, able to design and implement strategic fundraising approaches. 

In this role, you will take on responsibility for identifying, creating and delivering impactful fundraising strategies that enable us to generate further relationships and income in support of our programmes. 

You will oversee the development of our individual giving and monthly giving strategies and further develop relationships with schools, corporate organisations and NGOs, with a focus on resource acquisition (e.g. books, electronic devices) alongside fundraising. You will also play a supportive role in events and campaigns, and work closely with our Head of Communications to ensure our marketing and communications strategy is integrated with our fundraising aims. Currently, we already have a trusts and foundations manager, but would welcome applicants with experience of trust fundraising.

Skills, Experience and Attributes

Essential

• Proven track record of successful income generation from individuals or communities - ideally in a similar education / international development organisation 

• Experience of developing and maintaining successful income generating relationships (e.g. with schools, corporates, individuals, communities)

• Experience of digital marketing to engage new charity supporters / donors (including using paid advertising and innovative engagement techniques)

• Experience of email marketing and donor conversion strategies

• Strong communication and marketing skills, ideally with basic design skills (Canva)

• Ability to work effectively in a remote based role with minimal day-to-day support 

• Outstanding interpersonal skills 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Ability to use own initiative and work to tight and competing deadlines

• Ability to effectively manage workload and prioritise tasks

Situated in the Programmes, Policy & Impact Directorate, and reporting into the Head of UK Programmes, the Programme Lead, Carer Poverty Alleviation is a new role linked to the development of a new major programme operating in England, Scotland, and Wales. The Carer Poverty Alleviation Programme is a new Carers Trust programme under our strategic goal that no carer is pushed into poverty or is financially disadvantaged by their caring role.

The Programme Lead role is the fulcrum for this new partnership programme, will be comfortable to lead within and outside of the organisation and in developing a new team to drive the programme to success. As a Conservation Projects Manager and a key member of the national Conservation team, you will work with experienced consultants and skilled craftspeople, with national and regional colleagues, volunteers, local partners and stakeholders to develop and manage a range of holistic, conservation and new use projects, from inception to completion, and providing professional advice and support to community led projects.  You will lead on all capital, conservation and maintenance, programmes in the region.

You will have expertise and specialist knowledge in the field of historic building repair and conservation, and a proven track record of project management (client side) in the heritage sector. You might be a Building Surveyor, a Conservation Architect, an Estate Manager, or a Project Manager, in this continually varied and unique role you will be working on some of the most significant historic buildings in the country. As you’ll be working on projects across the region, but not exclusively, it is essential you have a full driving license.

About the Role

This role supports strategy and implementation of behavioural change best practice in our country programmes with a focus on gender-transformative approaches and reaching key populations and vulnerable groups such as adolescents, people in extreme poverty, people living with disability, and those with low-literacy.

This role will provide focused technical assistance to MSI country programmes, supporting formative analysis, strategy development, coordination, capacity strengthening, mentorship, and implementation of gender-transformative and inclusive programme activities for behaviour change. It will also support donor and fundraising teams within MSI to include appropriate GESI language and best practice approaches into new proposal design.

The GESI Programming Specialist will also work with the Evidence and Impact team to document and share successes and challenges in gender and inclusion programming and support the dissemination of best practice approaches. The learnings and outcomes generated from key projects will be used to strengthen gender equality and social inclusion programming across MSI’s global partnership, significantly contributing to delivery of MSI’s 2030 strategy.

This role reports to the Head of SBC and Inclusion in the Technical Services Department, which supports gender, inclusion, and SBC programming across MSI.

To perform this role, it is essential that you have the following experience:

• Significant technical experience at an advisory level in social and behaviour change programming, with a focus on gender equality and inclusion. Must include project design and implementation, and technical assistance in the health sector, preferably in SRHR.
• Significant experience developing and embedding gender-transformative SBC strategies in an international development context.
• Experience at a regional or global level is an advantage, especially in building best practices and motivating teams to adopt tools, new ways of working.
• Demonstrated ability to ensure gender mainstreaming and social inclusion integration in project design, implementation, and M&E.
• Demonstrated capacity strengthening experience, including developing and conducting trainings, mentorship, and coaching of government, local, and community partners.
• Familiarity with formative research and monitoring and evaluation methodologies and approaches and ability to interpret data for decision making and inform programming and strategies. Experience designing, conducting, and using gender equality and social inclusion analysis preferred.
• Familiarity with social and behaviour change communication and social norms theories and approaches and substantial experience with mainstreaming gender and/or disability into SBCC.
