Role Summary:
Global Health 5050 is seeking a hands-on Head of Operations to support the professional running of the charity. The successful candidate for this post is expected to play an integral role in contributing to the growth of GH5050, as well as taking a leading role in managing the day-to-day and longer-term operations of the charity.
We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual who is able to switch seamlessly between strategic thinking and in the detail execution. The ideal candidate will be capable of adapting to various responsibilities, whilst fostering a collaborative and flexible working environment across our small team. Role Responsibilities:
● Support the leadership of GH5050 and the key organisational management decisions that need to be made for the effective growth and operations of the charity.
● Ensure effective internal communications by facilitating clear, consistent, and timely information sharing across all team members.
● Own the candidate experience of our team from recruitment to onboarding, learning & development through to performance management and reward.
● Implement and maintain HR policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure legal compliance for a fair and equitable workplace, using external experts (currently Safe HR) as needed.
● Ensure the quality and effective operation of internal policies, including keeping core policies up to date, developing new policies, organising the review of existing policies.
● Maintain the risk register and monitor and deliver priority activities to mitigate risk.
● Own the implementation of a new organisation-wide programme management tool, ensuring seamless integration and securing team buy-in through effective communication and training initiatives.
● Support the Co-CEOs to engage with the board of trustees. Prepare documents for board meetings; liaise with trustees to fix dates and meetings; support the effective operation of board meetings; develop proposals for trustee engagement; take minutes of board meetings and follow-up on action points; support the recruitment and onboarding of new trustees to the board.
● Manage the operations functions including office rental agreements, our IT systems and providers, other suppliers of goods and services (insurance, HR, finance). Provide any other general operational and administrative support as appropriate, within the general scope and level of the post.
● Ensure that GH5050 complies with legal and other statutory regulations, including leading and managing Charity reporting requirements to the Charity Commission and other relevant bodies and undertakes ongoing risk assessments and proposed mitigation measures as required.
● Lead on Annual Returns to the Charity Commission in collaboration with the Finance Manager and Trustees and ensure timely and accurate reporting to HMRC.
● Work with Deputy Director and the Finance Manager on the management of the financial resources and project grants of the Charity, ensuring that all expenditure complies with funder and legal regulations.
● Direct line management of Finance Manager and Operations Executive. Support to ensure payroll, pensions, expenses, etc. are paid out in an accurate and timely manner and that new staff are enrolled in payroll / pensions etc.
Person specification:
● Bachelors-degree qualification or relevant professional experience.
● Experience working in a similar or relevant role with a passion for the GH50/50 mission and where they can have impact.
● Experience in human resources, policy creation and GDPR.
● Experience engaging with NGO boards of trustees.
● Demonstrated proficiency in managing teams, some of whom are based remotely.
● Experience of working effectively in a team, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative professional relationships with a wide range of partners across diverse contexts, including whilst working remotely.
● Experience working independently and flexibly. An ability to manage competing priorities and ensure projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.
● Strong familiarity with MS Excel and proficient in using a wide range of software.

The Internet of Production is a UK charity that brings together a global alliance dedicated to building a future of decentralised and distributed manufacturing. The Grant Fundraiser will be employed by the Internet of Production and part-funded by the Global Innovation Gathering.
Grants will usually be £50k to £500k, and larger grants will also be sought in consortia with existing partners in the Internet of Production Alliance and the Global Innovation Gathering. Our funding proposals are usually focused on creating opportunities for others in our networks – whilst maintaining the core of our organisations.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Write and submit grant applications, including narratives and any additional materials (such as detailed budgets, budget justifications, workplaces, monitoring and evaluation plans, logical frameworks, pitch decks, etc).
- Work closely with the CEOs of the Internet of Production and the Global Innovation Gathering (also successful grant writers) and with inspiring networks of visionary experts to design exciting, effective and fundable concepts and projects for grant applications.
- Plan appropriately to best fulfil a pipeline of grant opportunities, where some opportunities may be very short notice and some may require months of co-authoring.
- Assist with seeking out and prioritising potential grant opportunities from around the world.
- Develop a master bid document or other grant application tools and manage and maintain grant application files and folders etc for each organisation.
Person Specification:
- 10+ years of experience in roles that included significant grant writing experience.
- Experience of Horizon Europe grants, research funding or other large consortia grants.
- Exceptionally effective and clear writing style, with excellent English, including when under time pressure. Ability to speak German could be helpful but is not required.
- Understanding or appreciation of issues/sectors including poverty, resilience, climate change, economic development, digitalisation, localisation, environmental sustainability and ‘green’ initiatives, etc, would be very helpful.
- Understanding or appreciation of innovative approaches and technologies, particularly those relating to grass-roots community building, experimentation, co-creation, open-source, networks, Internet, making/manufacturing, creativity, etc.

Westway Trust is seeking a highly experienced and professional Senior HR Manager to join our vibrant, friendly team of three on a 2-year fixed-term contract to deliver a strong, credible, and reliable service across all aspects of our HR function in support of the range of activities undertaken by the organisation. Key responsibilities of the role include but not limited to:
- Provide high quality support to the Head of Governance and HR on aspects of the Trust’s HR function and on the provision of accurate, timely and relevant updates and reports as required by the Executive Team.
- Ensure effective up-to-date HR policies and relevant other policies that meet the needs of the Trust and its staff are in place, reviewing them on an agreed schedule in line with the Trust’s Policy Matrix and updating as required. - Lead on the Trust’s EDI policy, ensuring that the policy is implemented in a practical way throughout the organisation and in all our activities. Ensure the HR-related recommendations of the Tutu Foundation review into institutional racism at the Trust are progressed to a conclusion.
- Support the Head of Governance and HR in delivering the actions that support preparations for the next Investors in People (IiP) external assessment in late 2024. Ensure the Trust’s HR policies and practices remain consistent with the IiP standard.
- Work proactively with the HR Business Partner on the running of staff recruitment and selection processes, including sitting as the HR representative on the interview panel for more senior roles.
Essential Experience, Skills and Attributes
- Substantial experience of working in HR operations and of developing and reviewing appropriate HR policies and procedures in a charity or similar setting.
- Sound understanding of employment law and a willingness to keep up-to-date with relevant legislative changes.
- A passion for EDI and an ability to be creative and engaging in communications around this subject.

The Discover DeCrypt Trustees wish to appoint a self-employed fundraising consultant to undertake fundraising to achieve at a minimum the matched funding target (circa £92k) for submission of The National Lottery Heritage Fund Round 2 bid for The Sanctuary Project in St Mary de Crypt Church, Gloucester. The work will need to be carried out between July 2024 and July 2025 with all matched funding pledged by that end date and any surplus funding contributing to unrestricted reserves.
Introduction Discover DeCrypt undertook a major Heritage Fund project between Jan 2018 and March 2022. This capital project saw the reimagining of the church and adjoining Tudor schoolroom buildings. The project saw the Victorian pews removed (and repurposed), a lift (sympathetic to the buildings) installed, new toilet facilities, new heating system, new fire and intruder system, new lighting scheme and a new kitchen. Underfloor heating was installed within the nave and a new floor laid. The schoolroom was made safe and usable as it had reached the point where it was unsafe for the public to access. There was new interpretation in both the church and schoolroom.
An important aspect of this project was community outreach as the buildings sit within the city centre and had lost much of the original congregation and community. After the initial capital phase, three years of operational support was designed to help embed the charity within the community through volunteer recruitment, workshops, activities, concerts, art exhibitions and theatre. The church has also grown over this period, with regular services, weddings, funerals, and christenings.
The Sanctuary Project is the next phase of the Discover DeCrypt Story. It will see the conservation and interpretation of important Mediaeval and Tudor Wall paintings, Mediaeval stonework, and Victorian stained-glass windows. As well as the conservation work, the Sanctuary area and the elements within it will be researched and interpreted for the visitors to understand and enjoy. A very important part of this project is community engagement and audience development including giving students and the wider public access to conservation and heritage skills.
This role is funded by The National Heritage Lottery Fund thanks to National Lottery players.

Your operational management and strategic thinking are the primary skills and experience needed. You do not need to be a subject expert in the HRA; that is the job of our Delivery Team. You must however, like all of BIHR’s team, be a champion for our work and bring the skills, knowledge and experience needed to support our team in the planning and delivery of BIHR’s objectives

Pipeline Development

Senior MEL and Reporting Specialist - Breathe Cities
The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Senior MEL and Reporting Specialist to join our Breathe Cities Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation whose mission is to use philanthropic grants to catalyse a reduction in air pollution.
Under the supervision of the Breathe Cities MEL Manager and working closely with the Funder Relations Specialist, the role tracks programme performance, coordinates processes for donor reporting, generates learning and embeds evidence from Breathe Cities. This role ensures the MEL system drives maximum impact for the Breathe Cities Programme, and provides high quality and timely updates are provided to donors on this impact.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Demonstrable experience synthesizing learning from large volumes of data and communicating this in a clear and structured manner.
- Demonstrable experience writing externally-facing reports.
- Demonstrable experience in designing, managing and leading on the coordination of data collection, quality assurance, analysis and reporting processes and systems.
- Skilled communicator, especially in written form.

Following an increased funding arrangement for the Students’ Union with the University from £420,000 to £581,000 for the 2024/25 financial year (one of the few Students’ Unions in the country to receive a significant block grant rise this year), we are now opening recruitment for several positions to put in place the staffing structure we need to be able to deliver for students. We are currently undertaking a commercial review through Greenhouse Consultancy and Nina & Co as well as strategic research by Alterline that will lead to a new Strategy for the Students’ Union, and a clear direction for how to deliver commercial services.

Job Purpose
The Director of Commercial and Operations is a pivotal role within our Students' Union, ensuring both the operational excellence and commercial success of our diverse activities and services. You'll provide strategic leadership to our commercial ventures, oversee the seamless delivery of HR and finance functions, and play a key role in securing the financial sustainability and growth of the Union. This role is a two year contracted position with the goal of ensuring our commercial services are able to become self-funding, and not requiring a subsidy from the Students’ Union’s core income received from the University. We have a new and exciting opportunity to work with us as an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Manager (External) to provide continuity while our EDI Strategy Lead is on maternity leave. Reporting to the Executive Director, Impact and working with key stakeholders and colleagues across the whole organisation, you will help ensure alignment between our external For Everyone Strategic Framework and our new organisational strategy.
