Job description

We are looking for a dedicated Safeguarding Officer who will provide expert safeguarding advice and support to churches in the Mersey Synod.  Develop, manage and implement the United Reformed Church’s safeguarding policies in accordance with the URC Good Practice 6 and relevant legislation, enabling churches to develop best practice in their work with children and adults.The Mersey Synod of the United Reformed Church (URC) is a charitable organisation, and the Safeguarding Officer, will work with the 72 United Reformed Churches in the Merseyside Region.

The post holder will be the main contact for the churches to advise them on safeguarding children and adults at risk on a day-to-day basis, as well as providing training to a wide range of people as necessary.  They will have excellent communication skills, broad experience of networking across organisations, expert knowledge of current statutory safeguarding legislation and the ability to work and travel independently.
