The Head of Operations and Development (HOD) will play a pivotal role in taking our work to its next stage, helping us deliver even greater impact across our community.

We exist to fund research into beating blood cancer. In the past 60 years, we’ve invested more than £500 million into blood cancer research which has led to improved treatments and saved lives. Everything we do in the next five years will be based on a single aim – to stop people dying of blood cancer or the side effects of its treatments. We want to put people affected by blood cancer at the centre of everything we do. 

As Research Involvement Lead, you’ll be responsible for leading a programme of patient and public involvement in research, a core component of our charity wide involvement strategy. 

This role will ensure that our research strategy and funding programme is shaped by the priorities and needs of people affected by blood cancer. You’ll review and refine our processes to ensure they are in line with sector best practice and that they meet the needs of our community of people affected by blood cancer. The Creighton Centre is a local charity with a long history of working in Hammersmith & Fulham, caring for older, vulnerable and disabled people. We tackle problems caused by social isolation and disadvantage by developing and providing programmes that offer people practical solutions and emotional support.

The Learning Disability Outreach (LDO) project needs a Literacy Tutor to teach people with learning disabilities, helping them to improve their reading and writing skills, to enhance their lives and achieve their aspirations. The teaching will be mostly in a 1-to-1 capacity, or with small groups. You will need some experience of teaching literacy skills and a compassionate attitude.

An interest in gardening and educating people in a small community garden would be a bonus, although not essential.

You will have a detailed knowledge of accounting principles (ideally from within the charity sector), strong analytical skills; be able to demonstrate both operational and strategic thinking and have a proficiency in accounting alongside a relevant finance qualification; (ACA, ACCA, ACMA).

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care is an independent charity committed to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer, their carers, family, and friends.

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Cancer Information Specialist Nurse, and are seeking an experienced, flexible, and dynamic NMC registered nurse to join our team. 

At Cherry Lodge, we work alongside the clinical care of the NHS in an area centred on Barnet and covering much of North London and South Hertfordshire. We are based at the very friendly and welcoming Cherry Lodge Centre, in Union Street, Chipping Barnet. We also have an Outreach Service with an impact across the borough of Barnet, concentrating particularly on providing information and support to members of black and minority ethnic groups. Our Befriending Service provides additional support for people in their own homes.

Job Purpose:

To act as a specialist information resource for the management of people with cancer, their carers, and families.

To co-ordinate, manage and develop the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care (CLCC) information service by providing assessment, information, support and signposting to people visiting and telephoning the centre. Oversight of interventions and therapies delivered, ensuring the person with cancer/carer/family experience of support feels seamless and is transparent.

To work proactively with primary and secondary care and voluntary sector partners to promote Cherry Lodge Cancer Care and build awareness of the support available for people living with and beyond cancer. This will include further developing relationships with local cancer care providers including the North London Hospice and North Central London Cancer Alliance.

Contribute to the coordination of the day-to-day running of therapy and complementary therapies delivered at CLCC,  including mentoring of junior staff and volunteers as necessary. Working in close partnership with the Volunteer Co-ordinator and Befriending Service Lead.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Information/Service Provision

To ensure people with cancer their carers and families/friends gain access to the information they require by providing the following services:

1. To provide one to one sessions where assessment and planning ensures people are able to discuss all information aspects of their illness (symptom management, treatment, and living with cancer).

2. Provide support, access to therapies and signposting to other local services and support services.

3. Provide appropriate psychological support throughout the cancer diagnosis, treatment and follow up pathway, as appropriate and identified by the person with cancer.

4. Facilitate and support nurse/therapy led groups

5. Act as the person with cancer’s advocate, particularly where informed discussion may affect care management options, by ensuring robust links with secondary care Clinical Specialist Nurses.

6. Deliver support, information, and education to promote self-care following a diagnosis, and reduce risks of future complications. Actively encourage a Health & Wellbeing, enabling approach.

7. Work closely with the Cancer Information Specialist Nurse (Outreach).

8. To maintain a comprehensive, accurate and up to date information resource, including a database of information about local and national services.

9. Maintain professional links and liaise with other units/centres to ensure continuity of care and support for patients throughout their care pathway.

10.  To use communication skills and empathy to impart information at all levels. To work with the Operations Manager to audit the service on a regular basis ensuring that feedback from users of the service is used to develop services further.

11.  Support and participate in service review and ongoing development of nurse/therapy led services.

12.  Ensure clear and concise records are documented ensuring effective communication observing NMC guidance for records and records keeping.

13.  To provide information by telephone and respond to written requests for information.

Breck Foundation is at the forefront of efforts to safeguard children and young people online. Our organisation was founded in 2014 in response to the tragic loss of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. Our work aims to prevent this from ever happening again. Our work saves lives. We reach thousands of children and young people in schools and other community settings with Breck's story every year. Our talks and educational materials fill a gap in the current UK curriculum that otherwise leaves children vulnerable to online grooming and exploitation. With 98% of young people now active internet users, current and future generations grow up having to navigate new and evolving digital dangers. The Let’s Go Zero campaign is seeking two Climate Action Advisors in the East of England and the South East as part of its new climate action advisors project. This initiative will link thousands of schools across the whole of England with advice and support from a network of 31 local climate experts.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a disease of the brain and spinal cord which affects different people in different ways. There are currently 2.9 million people in the world living with MS and currently there is no cure. But, Overcoming MS provides hope through lifestyle changes which are backed by scientific research and which enables sufferers to lead a full and healthy life with MS.

Reporting to the CEO and managing a small team of two, we are looking for support to create long-term and sustainable income streams that allow us to plan for strategic growth. This is likely to involve building a pipeline of corporate partners, major donors, and legacy pledgers to grow income over the medium to longer term as well as managing and developing relationships with prospective high value donors.

The appointed candidate is likely to bring demonstrable experience of developing and implementing fundraising strategies, regularly reviewing them and monitoring against KPIs. You are likely to be a strategic and creative thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit in order to be able to identify and harness new opportunities and trends to drive income growth. As such a solid understanding of income generation opportunities outside of regular fundraising income streams would be helpful.

At the National Energy Foundation, our team is forward thinking in its approach to home energy and uses its influence and projects to make meaningful change. Our primary focus is delivering projects aimed at alleviating fuel poverty and helping residents to feel warmer, healthier and more comfortable in their homes whilst also helping them cut the cost of their fuel bills. In the next five years, we will seek to help more than 170,000 households out of fuel poverty. Beyond this, we seek to encourage homeowners to make improvements to their homes to increase energy efficiency. To enable this, we deliver several projects aimed at encouraging retrofit of energy efficient heating systems into UK homes.

Job Role

The Dalit Solidarity Network UK is a small human rights organisation working to eliminate caste-based discrimination in the UK and South Asia. Registering as an official charity in 2003, Dalit Solidarity Network UK continues to grow as an effective campaigning and advocacy organisation, working on the issue of caste discrimination in the UK and being an active player in the global movement.  Our major areas of work include documenting 'everyday casteism', building capacity of businesses to address caste-discrimination in overseas supply chains and UK operations and working with UK Higher Education Institutions to protect against caste-discrimination.

The Chief Executive will be responsible for providing leadership, developing, and implementing Living Well Bromley’s strategic and operational plans, leading on partnership and business development, and being an effective advocate for the charity and its beneficiaries.

They will lead a senior management team of three (the Operations Manager, Funding and Communications Manager and Advocacy Manager).They will be responsible for ensuring financial control and supporting and advising on governance best practice across all aspects of the charity.

This post is a first-tier post directly reporting to the Board of Trustees. Ideally the post holder will have a Christian faith and be committed to core Christian values.

EduSpots is an innovative, dynamic, and community-driven UK and Ghanaian registered charity which connects, trains, and equips voluntary community educators to drive community-led change through education spaces named ‘Spots’. Our vision is of our world where communities unite to create the futures they want to see, through education.

Since 2016, through collaborating extensively with over 250 local volunteers, who take a central leadership role in the development of the network, we have supported 50 communities in creating and running community-led and owned education spaces named ‘Spots’, with a strategy to support them in moving towards our ‘Dream Spot Model’. Together, we are developing a model for a community-led education space with accompanying network engagement that could have relevance in settings across the world. 

Our Ghana-based programmes team creates collaborative learning opportunities through three leadership programmes for volunteers: the Ignite, Catalyse and Peer Mentoring Programmes. These enable them to lead EduLit, EduSTEM, EduKidz and Ignite Equity clubs, alongside locally designed education projects, reaching over 10,000 students of all ages annually. We are in an exciting period of our development, having more than doubled our income, programme breadth and reach in the last year. In 2024, we are launching our new Catalyse Leadership Programme, alongside developing an EduSpots app to enhance data management and programme management at the community level, alongside a wider digitalisation process through the distribution of tablets across the network. 

We won the Tes International Award in 2018 and the Big Give Supporters’ Choice Award in 2022, and we were recently selected as a finalist for the Their World Scale-Up Innovation Prize. In 2021, our Founder/CEO was a Finalist in The Varkey Foundation’s  UNESCO-backed $1 million Global Teacher Prize.

About this role

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic fundraising professional, with a proven track record of income generation and a strong ability to develop impactful relationships with the skills to bring aligned individuals and organisations into our long-term EduSpots community. The post holder will be creative, passionate and self-motivated, with strong marketing and communications skills, able to design and implement strategic fundraising approaches. 

In this role, you will take on responsibility for identifying, creating and delivering impactful fundraising strategies that enable us to generate further relationships and income in support of our programmes. 

You will oversee the development of our individual giving and monthly giving strategies and further develop relationships with schools, corporate organisations and NGOs, with a focus on resource acquisition (e.g. books, electronic devices) alongside fundraising. You will also play a supportive role in events and campaigns, and work closely with our Head of Communications to ensure our marketing and communications strategy is integrated with our fundraising aims. Currently, we already have a trusts and foundations manager, but would welcome applicants with experience of trust fundraising.

Main Duties and Responsibilities 

The key responsibilities of this role are to:

• Develop our individual giving and monthly giving strategies, including:

  • Ensuring we have the right tools in place.

  • Strengthening thanking and communications to existing supporters.

  • Trialling new strategies for outreach to new audiences.

• Organise occasional fundraising events (e.g. face-to-face events in London; virtual events and fundraising challenges).

• Support organisation and delivery of appeals and campaigns (e.g. the Big Give).

• Support the development of impactful relationships with schools, universities, corporates and NGOs for fundraising and resource acquisition (e.g. books, digital devices, science equipment). 

• If time and experience, possibly support grant applications. 

• Line manage, and provide support to, the intern/s (fundraising). 

Other

• Ensure all administrative tasks relating to the role are carried out accurately.

• To comply at all times with the organisation's policies, procedures and performance expectations of staff as set out in the Staff and Volunteers Handbook.

• To ensure compliance with data protection legislation.

• Any other duties as may be reasonably required under the role.

Skills, Experience and Attributes

Essential

• Proven track record of successful income generation from individuals or communities - ideally in a similar education / international development organisation 

• Experience of developing and maintaining successful income generating relationships (e.g. with schools, corporates, individuals, communities)

• Experience of digital marketing to engage new charity supporters / donors (including using paid advertising and innovative engagement techniques)

• Experience of email marketing and donor conversion strategies

• Strong communication and marketing skills, ideally with basic design skills (Canva)

• Ability to work effectively in a remote based role with minimal day-to-day support 

• Outstanding interpersonal skills 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Ability to use own initiative and work to tight and competing deadlines

• Ability to effectively manage workload and prioritise tasks 

• Good IT skills - Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Zoom, Canva, Social Media 

• Alignment with EduSpots’ core values of care, passion, teamwork, sustainable impact, community leadership and play. 

Desirable

• Experience of writing compelling and successful funding proposals 

• Experience of managing and reporting to funders

About the role 

Working with key stakeholders in the charity and our staff who work with our community, you’ll lead the evolution and delivery of our EDI roadmap for change. You’ll connect, lead, manage and coordinate activities across the charity with strategic oversight, and drive change both internally and externally.

You’ll work closely with our leadership team and the People & Culture Directorate to ensure the delivery of our EDI strategy, ensuring EDI is woven through our wider strategic ambitions and connecting EDI initiatives. You’ll have a creative insight and understanding of people affected by Parkinson’s, and be responsible for identifying and putting in place the measures and deliverables that will enable us to achieve our ambitions. 

We are open to reduced hours for this role, we will consider all applicants who would like to work between either 21 or 28 hours per week. 

What you’ll do:

• Chair the EDI forum and affinity groups and ensure it connects views from across our workforce  that links to our priorities and influences  our programme of work. 

• Provide regular updates to our Executive Leadership team ensuring their sponsorship of EDI activity

• Work across the People & Culture team to make sure that EDI is embedded in our ‘people journey’. You’ll connect our EDI priorities to how we attract, develop and motivate our people 

• Connect with core subject matter experts, such as communications, data and insight and delivery teams to ensure initiatives become part of our core work.

What you’ll bring:

• Excellent interpersonal skills, confident influencer and relationship builder, and the ability to challenge others to drive change 

• An interest in or connection with Parkinson’s and a vision of how we can make a difference to people affected by this condition 

• Experience of working in co production and collaboratively with diverse groups of employees and volunteers
